As a therapist, I can't tell you how important rules, boundaries, having age appropriate consequences and CONSITANCY is at the younger ages. Parent's don't understand why their teenager isn't listening to them or respecting their rules but you can't expect a 15 year old to all of suddent start listening to rules when they never had to before. Parents are scared of their kids not liking them or thinking they are mean. If your little tells you you are are mean, you are doing something RIGHT! It's not your job to have your kid like you. It's about setting reasonable, age appropriate expectations, consequences when those aren't meant and then most importantly, is being on the same page as your partner so both of you are holding he rules and being consistent with consequences.

I was going to say this! Especially as a former educator, they learn first at home and it helps so much when they’re in school and with other children and adults. Naturally kids will push boundaries to see where are you being inconsistent? It’s important to be consistent and holding what you stand on because when you aren’t you are telling them that it’s okay to be inconsistent and that they don’t need to be consistent themselves.

I love how Benji always teaching the girls to be respectful towards Judy.. sometimes kids are not scare of the mom for some reasons lol maybe cause we are too soft hearted… but teaching the kids to respect the mom and them seeing Benji respect their mother is top teir… You two are such great parents ❤

The way benji was parenting bella got me in my feels. My dad was always the stricter parent and enforcer of the rules, its actually made me respect my dad so much more bc looking back as an adult it takes alot of strength to be that parent to put their foot down bc its so much easier to give in and give your child whatever they want in that moment but in the long run you risk having an ungrateful kid who wont listen. I love my dad. Benji is such a great dad!!

Judy I have been watching more consistently since you started documenting your pregnancy with JB, you are a mom I truly admire here on KZbin! As a child care/early childhood teacher, the way you and Benji discipline the girls in a way that’s consistent and stern, and teaching the girls to be calm in moments where they have “big” feelings is super important and helps them as they grow to control their emotions 🩷

Good for you for standing your ground as a parent. In the long run, you are teaching them to respect you and all adults and good, solid life lessons. It doesn’t take away your love for them. Amen Benji! Amen, Gentle, butt Stern children have to learn how to respect their parents and then do what they are told.Our Parents taught us that we are all married now and we taught our children that now we have grandchildren and we are teaching them the same thing, none of our grandchildren.Or children ever say no to us or took a long time to do something when we ask.And they never talk back to us either.But we all have to respect one another. Great job, Benji 👏🏽 👍🏼

It's good you realized how soft you have become....the littles are young enough to change this. I know we get tired after so many children but it doesn't help them when we aren't being the parent they need. They don't need a friend. I learned later on that asking children so many questions is like giving them authority and power. They are not ready for that when they are little. It's like they are your equal, so why do they need to do what you say? You are not mean, you are the parent, the leader, the protector, the guide they need. It's not about feelings for you or them. You are doing great and you are growing too.😊😊😊
@PcfulSol10 күн бұрын
As a teacher and psychology student here, I've observed that some individuals are very strict and stern, while others are extremely nurturing. To effectively manage and guide children, it's important to strike a balance between these two approaches. This balance is key to fostering both discipline and growth in young minds. This is great example ❤

I love the personal accountability, Judy!! As a parent, we just want the best for our kids and sometimes, we can either be too stern or too soft. I tend to be extremely stern with my daughter at times and I deal with a lot of guilt as a result. We don’t always get it right, but LOVE is definitely at the root of it all. ❤

You are the parent what you say goes. No child should have that much authority over you. No whining, crying, begging, or batting their cute adorable eyes at you shouldn't keep you from being firm. if you give in to your children because you feel horrible for saying no or you don't want to see them sad they will use that against you. they may be little & cute but their not stupid. sometimes they will play you against your spouse. I'm a Filipina & i grew up on a strict household. my parents belived in spanking being sent to our room with no dinner. we had no chores assigned because their was already that expectation that we should clean without being told or learn to cook. kids nowadays are lazy. they won't lift a finger to help unless you ask them.

We love a self-aware Queen because of course you don’t show us your whole lives so we can only comment on what we see. And we know that Benji is the best husband and father to you and the girls but if WE can see, sometimes you put them before him in situations where it’s OK if you give him the attention first then he might feel it too. I love the Travis family and the integrity that you guys have withheld over all these years on KZbin and all the changes that it has went through but as much as we learn from you guys maybe you get some insight and learn from us as well. Love you guys.
