Gentle Leaders are also aversive and praised like they saved the world. The dog didn't really care about the collar and it wasn't necessary to begin with. Some employee probably told her to get it and she blindly listened.

Roxie"s "Mom" clearly has anxiety, fear her dog will injure another dog. She seemed desperate to me to prevent that at all costs. That kind of intense anxiety/stress can make a person try to force a situation, or get easily frustrated.

@@LoriFahy Agreed. The harness goes on before a walk, how can it make it more difficult, it's still just one leash. If holding the leash is that difficult use a hands free leash. I don't see how having the leash attached to a collar instead of a harness makes things easier for the owner, only that she thinks it does.

@@imzadi83fanvids7 the only thing i can think of is actually putting the harness on. My dog has had a harness since the day i got him. I use it literally every day, and in the car he has it on and is leashed into the seatbelt, .. he actually steps into his harness himself, because he understands whats required. Perhaps her dog doesnt like the sensation of being put into the harnesss.. All thats needed is a harness up, and reward, and then rinse repeat until the dog sees the harness as a great idea! .. If the dogs fighting her, and is probably easier for her to just click the lead onto the collar.. not the best option for the dog though

Being an experienced dog handler myself, I never understand why people walk or exercise dogs in high heels or platform shoes? There is no way I could do any exercise without feeling my feet are securely planted on the ground including roadwork. Just seems to me an accident waiting to happen with a handler!

I wouldnt exercise my dog in platforms but I could easily walk with her on platforms (maybe even heels) because I have a very well trained toy poodle. He is social with other dogs and humans, he wont pull and he’ll walk according to my paste. But I also walk my friends dogs sometimes and their dog can easily pull me so I would never even consider wearing shoes like that with him.

Was going to say the same thing. Always walk your dog in sensible shoes/ sneakers because you never know when something is going to happen regardless of how well trained your dog is you may come across one that is reactive and could go straight for your dog. When you're exercising your dog, it's not meant to be a fashion statement, and nobody will worry what your feet look like, but if you do need to protect your dog it's better done in sturdy shoes, not something that's going to twist or break your ankle.

This dog was really damaged by poorly using adverse/punishing methods. Discipline is one thing, totally shutting down and confusing a dog is another. I never got that type of "no pull" harness to work for any dog. I always use a front clip. But it seems to work alright for her! At least she had her on a slip collar when she forgot the harness too, I was scared she would slip away. Hearing her frantically say "Roxie" over and over again would make me just as stressed as that dog is. I'd lash out too. lol

I hate how many people bash on Roxy's owner. Is she the sharpest tool in the shed? Probably not. But she obviously cares about Roxy and was mostly unaware of the harm she was causing. She could've done better, but at least she kept trying. The real blame lies on the previous "dog trainers" and I can't believe that you don't need licensing to work as one.

Honestly, I don't understand why the owner is freaking out. Compared to some of the other dogs I have seen Victoria work with....who bark and growl and rip their owner's arms out trying to get at other dogs and even run away....this little dog seems very calm. She's not barking. She's not pulling the leash. I see ABSOLUTELY NO aggression in this dog. The dog stopped and LOOKED at the other dog as it passed, but she certainly didn't LUNGE after it.

She is strong, but tenacity, consistency, love and routine....Now, my husband said..."I knew you would work it out with Lula" We can now walk her in peace! Although it is an everyday effort!

I have a medical alert and phyatric service dog for my hypotheyroidism and ptsd and her training wasent easy even the basic commands and with her tracing she’s good around other people and focusing on me and tasking when needed and I told the lady to give her treats which what I did with her training and they said your dog behaved amazingly and worked with her and I said yea she’s a service dog and then they said she denied are treats and I’mlike yea she usally knows to leave food on the ground
