In case someone hasn’t already posted this if you hold the reset button on the back of the airport time capsule for more than 10 seconds it will do a hard reset which will return it to its factory settings as if it was brand new so you don’t have to keep updating every time it will just come up as a brand new airport time capsule keep up the good videos love watching your stuff

I recently bought an airport express to help with my airport time capsule and I had the same issues. It was kind of annoying getting it to connect to my airport. But now it seems to work fine.

I used to use power line adapters too, but in the end they kept losing sync with each other, and I couldn't access my WD Cloud Was where I keep all my bluray and dvd rips, so i decided to go down the route you're looking to go down with hard wiring the whole house, and I can honestly say its well worth doing. I have the router in the living room going to a 5 port switch which feeds cat6 cables to my printer, and then a feed upstairs, and then a 3rd one going off round to the other side of the living room where I have all my entertainment stuff connected like tv, sky hd, Apple TV, libreeelc box, and my pioneer amp. The line that goes upstairs then goes into my bedroom into an 8 port switch that feeds my entertainment centre and then feeds another 8 port switch to the other side of my bedroom where my pc, Mac mini, ps4, sky q mini wifi booster, Philips hue hub and WD Cloud server reside. I have completely ditched the powerline adapters and have seem an much improved setup in terms of speed, throughput and reliability since switching to hardwiring. I got flat ethernet cables at 20m runs from amazon and they were only £12 and I can't recommend them enough. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014DWLWXY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

The issue with the airport express for me is that with a 150mbps fibre connection, the 10/100 Ethernet port doesn’t cut it

Very nice! I use to have the older flat style Time Capsule and it worked perfectly for several years. I might need to pick up one of these since I miss the easy integration into macOS
@ItsMyNaturalColour7 жыл бұрын
That's deffo one of the main things I enjoy, the AirPort Utility and the simple setup with minimal complications. Even though the software can be a little hit and miss with multiple AirPorts, I find that once they're all set and configured they give me absolutely no bother at all. Since living here I haven't had a single issue or need to reboot any of them outside of software updates or changes to the network such as adding this Time Capsule for instance. Very pleased and on top of it all, fantastic signal all over.

Tom, run one hard line downstairs, and then get yourself a nice "cheap netgear" 1 gb switch and run your other lines from there to wherever else you need them downstairs, it should save you a bunch on cable, the only things I use wireless are my phones-tablets, everything else has a hardline. Great video!

You know, I think this'll be the route I take, good idea. Thanks for watching :)

@ItsMyNaturalColour7 жыл бұрын
I REALLY do, the whole workbench needs a complete overhaul. I've got shelving, lighting, patch panels... all sorts sitting here waiting to be installed, just need to get a decent couple of days to make a tidy job of it.

awesome 2 videos in a row now this is going to be fun to watch while playing enter the matrix on my other laptop as my gamecube keeps crashing during a sewers level, this is why you should get multiple versions of the same game and there is sometimes cool stuff with a cirtain version

Hey Tom! Have you considered checking out MOCA as an alternative to power line networking? It runs on RF/Coax alongside your cable tv and internet, and is much faster than power line. We use it to route our gigabit internet connection and really don't have any throughput degradation over Ethernet. Stateside you can get a bridge set (you can add multiple bridges to one host) for around a hundred bucks.
@ItsMyNaturalColour7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! Never heard of this, I'll deffo check it out :)

Do you have vdsl? How many mb/s ?
@ItsMyNaturalColour7 жыл бұрын
I do, freshly tested 68Mbps down and 19Mbps up. Paying for 76/20 so pretty happy! Could prob notch it up over 70 if I eliminated the 25m extension from my master socket to the office.
@dustinschings70427 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I do not thing the 25m Ethernet cable is hindering your speeds.

I was debating buying one of these, but with my MacBook Pro failing again and my MacBook Air only having 2GB of ram, I couldnt justify a full Apple based network and wound up just buying a hard drive to connect to my ASUS router

My AirPort Extreme Time Capsule overheated and died, I will never buy one of those again and our warranty claim was denied. It worked well but got extremely hot over its short life and led to its failure. Apple's insistence on quiet operation and lack of a fan led to it's demise and erased all my backups. Thanks Apple!

I think they've discontinued all of them which is a shame, although as I said in the video there's a lot of competition out there these days, so many good products.

...how you can even upload this video? you did not show anything, just you very confuse how to install the simple device. i supposed you would show how to use the time capsule like a server to have access from anywhere , out of your home... like having access to all your files when u are far away from home,...spend my time waiting for that..
