Peter! Again, I am moved to tears by your words, music and ideas. Receiving your sincerity and humanity has been an incredible experience As far as forgiveness, I just had to share my thoughts. Working with highly traumatized people for over 25 years, we approach 'forgiveness with the Greek understanding of "Aphiemi" ---- which implies "letting go" or "releasing. " This allows the person to set THEMSELVES free, and has very little to do with finding attributes in another which may or may not be there. We can find endless sound reasons for why a person comes to do what they do in hurting another, but in forgiveness, maybe the grace comes in setting yourself free so that you are no longer tethered to the harm done. I truly treasure your essence and what you radiate. It is such a balm for us all. THANK YOU!
@cesardelcastilloyurrita9344 Жыл бұрын
Can we find solid reasons to explain why all these horrors are committed in the human condition? I disagree. In fact, I think that is the fundamental reason why they continue to be committed. We can explain some biological mechanisms of the predatory survival instinct, some psychological mechanisms of how sadistic or masochistic programs act that enjoy humiliating and dominating others or allowing themselves to be humiliated and dominated by others. But we still do not know how to decipher the primordial source code that orders the deepest desires of these programs and in general the dark side of our human condition that for thousands of years continues to systematically update a terrifying gallery of horrors that seems to have no end, of the In the same way that we still do not know how to explain the primary reason for the emergence of life nor why it must do so in such hostile conditions that tend to make it impossible before it emerges and that throughout all its evolutionary efforts continue to pressure to order its involution until trying to destroy it. And as long as we do not find a true reason that explains in a coherent and clearly intelligible way the reason for the existence of all those negative dark forces that in fact prevail over other noble and creative purposes, sincere and real forgiveness is not possible. Yes, it is as an expression of a desire to leave behind the horror experienced. A generous, very noble wish that expresses a dream of overcoming those ghosts and not being trapped in the feedback poison of a conflictive spiral of endless revenge. But a wish should not be confused with firm reality. The only real way to overcome a horror suffered that caused serious harm to oneself and one's loved ones would be to find a reason that, with absolute certainty of its evidence, explains to us that what happened in order to achieve a greater good than that horror suffered. And that inevitably the only way to achieve it was that and only that. And I don't want to go on and get bogged down in endless theological discussions that I have personally explored in depth, but unfortunately, according to my own conclusions, no one has yet found that solid necessary and sufficient reason that your comment suggests. For this reason, the lucid reflection of a certain excellent and unforgettable poet remains valid: "To be or not to be, that is the question", and I fully subscribe to it and add that today it remains an unresolved question, that is, an uncertain one.

Mr. Gabriel, when I was much younger and lived on the East Coast in the US, I’d listen to WMMR in Philadelphia. They’d refer to you as St. Peter Gabriel. How profound as your music played a vital role in my journey this year. My life has undergone significant and beneficial changes. It’s been years and years of work but finally I’m free. One example that I’m proud of… I’ll begin my 21st month of sobriety in December. Forgiven many. However that doesn’t mean that they are welcome in my life. Not unless, reciprocal. I’m free. Much, much gratitude to you. Wish you and yours much joy and abundance.

Thank you Peter for embarking on this wonderful full moon experiment! I can say without hesitation what a success it has been! Quite an amazing achievement as you’e given so much to so many this year-paying attention to the planet with monthly releases, art work, new instrumental musicians, singers and causes/concepts that span the globe-and then sharing them with all of us, sharing your process and thoughts. Thank you! I have thoroughly enjoyed every song released for i/o and am a long time fan-so even though I would have probably like all anyway 😊 I feel that this is some of your best work ever! You and the band are an inspiration and the dream concert would be to have i/o performed in Royal Albert Hall, with as many factions as possible present (the Orch, Singers, musicians) My husband & I attended the concert in Seattle and would totally travel anywhere to hear that concert again! Back in the day as a high school kid in Kentucky, I remember listening to Security on my Sony Walkman in the dark, while waiting for the school bus-then would go home and listen to the prior 3 albums after school. I attended the Security tour @ the Univ of Indiana in early 80’s. The band blew-out the sound system 🤘and you had to play Here Comes the Flood as an encore. I remember the band marching by with face paint and drums. Wow! 40+ years later still so inspired! Keep it up, let us all know about the Dream Concert 🌍 and Kudos!! ❤️ 🥁

I feel this message deeply. Oftentimes, the words “I forgive you” are not achievable given the unfathomable circumstances. But allowing space around the pain, fear, or hatred, can offer a glimpse into the offender’s own life and humanity which in turn, invites the heart to feel tender again. This reconciliation with one’s own heart weakens any power the offender had, with compassion being the final product.

Thank you firstly for your 12 wonderful "mood pills" - one a month for a year creating and re-engaging the connection with you as one of the worlds finest artists. I can only speak personally but I know that I will miss this regular artistic outpouring as we enter 2024. Secondly, I was fortunate enough to be living and working in the beautiful country of South Africa when Nelson Mandela became President, and during the peace and reconciliation process. On a micro level many individuals involved in the 'atrocities' were able to find 'peace' with their actions, but for my part I felt that the process gave the nation a focus to listen and learn; the acknowledgement (on all sides) of the horrors of apartheid seemed to allow the collective consciousness to forgive and live with the past, and so to focus on the new futures which were then made possible. In my own private life I have wallowed in the 'toxic waste' (as you call it) of failed relationships; and ironically I have long ago forgiven my partner for her part in this. I have not successfully forgiven myself, and so many of the songs I write seek this self-forgiveness. It is a worthy subject indeed, and I look forward to hearing the final song from I/O.

Thank you for taking the time to connect with us. This last song, I agree that we can become tainted by unpleasant events and should take a step back to find peace in forgiveness, my problem with this is it's hard to forgive the wholesale disregard for every attack on mother earth and all that live with her. But I do try to fight my anger and hate and each little step I take I see that there are people who do care and that dilutes the poison of hurt within me and then I remember that being kind can heal us all.
