This is the most recent live performance by Angelina Jordan - she is 17 yrs old and will turn 18 on January 10th, 2024 - She first sang at age 1 1/2 and began to teach herself how to sing at age 2 by watching the Jazz greats (Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrongs, Dinah Washington, and more on KZbin)- she entered Norway's Got Talent at age 7 and won the competition at age 8 - and has been singing professionally since then - she signed with Republic Records in 2020 at age 14 - Angelina has been writing songs since she was 10 years 0ld - So far 12 have been released: Oslo, What is Life?, Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Love Don't Let Me Go, Now I'm The Fool, Fire and Rain, All My Fault, Good in Goodbyes, Diamond, and Our Time. The video starts by saying that Angelina is there to honor a cause, and for that that reason she performed this song with especial reverence to the honoree and her family. Narges Mohammadi is in prison for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran. What is truly disturbing is that she was sentenced to a total of 31 years and 154 lashes. For anyone that is unaware of the context and importance of this performance at this event there are three things that make it particularly significant: Angelina is Norwegian and Norway is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize; her grandmother is Iranian; and Unchained Melody was written about a prisoner longing to be reunited with a loved one. It must be especially heart wrenching for Angelina, given her Iranian heritage and her empathy for the disadvantaged and downtrodden. It is even harder on Narges' husband and her two children, who are the same age as Angelina and received the award on behalf of their mother.

Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, and Adele to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, "Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone . Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and currently signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records had agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. From what we know, she is finally done with school. She had a single that came out May 5th called Love Don't Let Me Go, a new EP called Old Enough that came out Friday, July 21st, a newly released video of her new song called Now I'm The Fool, and a new album of original music which will be coming out early next year. Angelina just recently released her new single, Our Time, and is fantastic! She returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. On September 22, 2023, Angelina had her first U.S. concert that sold out in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. On December 11, 2023, she was asked to come back and perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. She first performed at this prestigious event in 2014 when she was 8. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to sing for the whole world, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. This concert was in front of the children of Nargis Mohammedi honoured here. Imprisoned whipped and on hunger strike. Angelinas emotional performance is full of longing. You cannot understand Angelinas control or versatility with one song. She is the most predictably unpredictably brilliant artist of her generation. She has complete control of the colour texture and such abilities like her vocal fry. You should follow this up with her new EP to get an idea of her versitility with the genre cocktails she has created, not to mention her great lyrics. EPs name OLD ENOUGH.

"Welcome to the wonderful world of Angelina Jordan!" The journey with her you are about to go on is something you will not believe. In regards to this emotional rendition of 'Unchained Melody', it was sung as a song of deep love and hope. Since Bobby Hatfield sang it years ago it became more of a 'romantic' song. Angelina sang the song at the Nobel Peace Prize event in Oslo, Norway, and the award was given to Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian woman imprisoned years ago for standing up for woman's rights and the oppression of women in general. The mother of twins (a boy and a girl) is still imprisoned and the children and their father are living in France. The hope is the Iranian government will free Narges Mohammadi so that the family can be united once again. The children were awarded a diploma, a green gold medal plated with 24 karat gold and a document confirming the prize amount (which varies for a recipient each year). Angelina is all about love (you are about to understand that comment when you listen to her sing more) and she sang this song directly to Narges Mohammadi, her husband and her two children. When you listen to it again you will see Angelina thoroughly into the music and the message of the song.

However, her greatest prodigy marvel has been her baffling ability to be so precise in accuracy of all things singing at such a young age. John Gary vs Angelina Jordan Unchained Melody ((((( One of the most memorable experiences of my life was seeing John Gary perform live in Seattle, WA, when I was 20 years old. He had such a powerful and beautiful voice that filled the whole auditorium. During the break, he sat down on the edge of the stage and played his guitar, singing Unchained Melody with so much emotion and passion. It was a sublime moment that I shared with my wife, and I felt like we were the only ones in the room. At that time, I thought to myself; how could anyone top that performance, but 56 years later a 17-year-old Angelina Jordan just did. Angelina Jordan's performance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Norway in 2023 blew me away. She sang with such passion and emotion that I felt every word in my soul. I love watching people discover Angelina Jordan. Not many have started with this masterful rendering of the iconic song, which Angelina sang just a couple of weeks ago at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony honoring Narges Mohammedi, the Iranian activist for women's rights. Most believe that Bobby Hadfield's rendition is 'The Gold Standard' for the song, but in this rendition Angelina brings forth such a degree of emotion laden penetration to my inner being, far and above what Bobby's rendition ever achieved in me. It's a fitting tribute to Narges Mohammadi, who is this year's Nobel Peace Prize recipient and languishes in an Iranian prison for trying to increase women's rights. The fact that Angelina's beloved grandmother is also Iranian, must have increased the emotion she brought forth in this spectacular performance.

Welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan. You have stepped into a deep rabbit hole here. To give you some background, I am including a bio put together by another of her fans, Andy Schnell. Angelina refers to her fans as her Angels, so I'm sure you'll hear from many of us. Here's the bio: Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The vast majority of the prize money was donated to charity benefitting poor children. Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter and allowed Angelina to copyright her version. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. Personally, Angelina is a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. As true as all you state is, people need to understand that Angelina has stated that if not for Billie Holiday, THERE WOULD BE NO ANGELINA JORDAN. Her grandma mentored in many areas of life, but when it comes to singing, Billie stands alone as her 'one and only' musical mentor. She has heard all 'The Greats', but no one is held in her highest esteem except for Billie. Anyone who takes the time to listen to Billie's catalog of music will see that she did things that no other singer before Angelina was able to do. She was/is 'unquestionably' the most inventive, improvisational singer in the history of music. The elements she brought forth were the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' responses that are now a trademark of Angelina's singing as well, but there are many others. If you listen to Angelina's 'glass' sound booth rendition of Billie's song 'I'm A fool To Want you', it quickly becomes apparent as to how many unique inflections, radical 'key' changes within specific lines of lyrics, as well as going from talking to singing within specific lines that were Billie. It's amazing when you realize, as Angelina undoubtedly did, that Billie was a poor black girl who was totally self-taught as a singer, overcoming obstacles that included being reared as a child by a prostitute mother who gave birth to her at the age of 13. When Angelina would sing with so much adult like emotion as a child, people would wonder how she was able to give off the impression that she actually experienced all that came forth in her music? The plain fact of the matter is that she didn't, but was able to note that Billie did, and with Angelina being the 'vocal chameleon' she has always been, she could tap into Billie's personal emotional output. Let us not forget that Billie adored a father who was seldom around, and then found out he died in 'the south' when hospitals refused to treat him. Then, she reads a poem called 'Strange Fruit', that she converts into a song that spoke of how 'Blacks' were hung dead from trees throughout 'the south'. These two events I mentioned are what fueled all the heartfelt emotion in Billie.......and are what Angelina is able to capture in her vocalizing. As she stated, 'No Billie........no Angelina'! 'Strange Fruit' was such an 'all powerful' song that it was banned from radio stations throughout 'the south' but still sold over a million copies.

The reasoning behind her softer emotional arrangement was that the recipient of the prize is currently imprisoned in Iran, sentenced to over 100 lashes and decades in jail due to her standing up for women's rights. Notably, Angelina's Grandma Mery is Iranian as is AJ in part. Plus Norges two adult children were in the audience and I assume received the prize on behalf of their mother. Imagine the maturity of a 17 year old teen singing live in front of a full orchestra and millions of her home countrymen, and the world, having to perform the song in such a way as to honor a political tortured prisoner, plus honor the beauty of the song and take care not draw attention away from the main focus. Any mistake would have been obvious, including excessive runs and over belting. Few if any singers could have risen to such a high pressure situation with such grace and poise. Angelina not only rose to but soared above, channeling her inner angelic emotion. A true prodigy the likes of which I have never seen in my 68 years on this earth. What an honor to witness. A performance for the millennia. Brings tears to my eyes each and every time. 20 out of 10.

Madam, I am sorry, but a lot of folks does not know what the NOBELPRIZES are, and think it to be some idiotic TV-show. The NOBEL PRIZES (THERE ARE 5 CATEGORIES) are the only and highest praise any human on Earth can get, regardless of color, religion, cultur or nationality. This is the highest honor on this planet, to receive such a prize. Now the recepient of this PEACE PRIZE is a incarcerated woman (31 years and 152 whiplashes) for asking for equal rights. This was more emotional than Bobby's take on it. My top singers for this song are The Richeous Brothers til now. Angelina tops them imo. If you cant give a 10 for this performance, a 9.75 at least is the lowest you could possibly give. Me? It's definitely a BIG 15/10 !! Otherwise a lovely reaction.

FYI. The Righteous Brothers did not record "Unchained Melody". Bobby Hatfield recorded it solo, because Tom refused to sing it with him (big mistake).
