I was kinda frustrated with myself and had my confidence lowered back then. Hahahaha Planning to apply again. Hope I won't fail this time. ^^

His interview went so much better than mine. I bought a new headset JUST to teach, and during the interview the microphone output was not working. I could hear the interviewer but she could not hear me. The same issue happened with my first class and it was equally disastrous. I bought a different headset and the problem was solved, but I wish I had not had such a rocky start.

Honestly it is totally up to you. Choose the option you are more comfortable with. In terms of the automated option, I can't tell you what it entails. I only conduct live interviews, so have no experience with the automated one. Not sure if you did or not, but if you sign up (fresh) via my link provided in the video description, you can interview directly with me (as an option). My interviews are run exactly like this example. 😊

A webcam is required to interview. (You can use a built-in one or external one.) And any headphones are fine for the interview, but you will need a headset covering both ears with a visible mic once hired.

Props are definitely encouraged. (And in fact, it is a marking point on your interview rubric.) You can definitely use the slide, but using props is equally as important.

Hi! Apologies for my delay. It really depends on your interviewer, as it varies greatly in what they will ask you to do and their expectations. (Often, other interviewers will make you do more than 1 slide, whereas I only do the one.) Personally, I don't time the demo, and am not concerned with it being 5 minutes.

Awesome! :) You should try to use some form of headphones for your interview if possible, as that will give the best sound quality. (For teaching though, you will definitely need a proper headset covering both ears with a visible microphone.)

Hello, I was just wondering if the props are necessary, I mean, is there an itutor box we should have or it's we the props we have at home. I am asking bcs the interviewee just happened to have flashcards with "mom" and "dad".

Yes, props for your demo are highly encouraged. Props can be anything. It can be stuff around your home (family photo, your own drawings, etc), stuff you print (which is what the interviewee did with flashcards) or things you buy (toys, etc). I have a video on this specifically too, so be sure to check that out. But ultimately, be creative with it. :)

Hi! You get the lesson once you book the interview (via email and on the website). Props are definitely encouraged, and it is one criteria you are marked on. You can use a family photo, drawing, etc as well, so flashcards aren't a necessity.

Hi! No problem! Teachers are typically given both. (Everyone teaches adults. You aren't able to opt out of getting them to do only kids classes.) Kids will typically book more peak times though, so sticking to those times will increase your chances of getting kids over adults.

A friend of mine started teaching without a TEFL around a year ago - if it's now a requirement then I'd rather wait before booking my interview, don't want to shoot myself in the foot and have to wait for 6 months to reapply!

@@Metal-Spark Gotcha! It has recently changed (like only in the past couple weeks). So you do need your TEFL uploaded prior to being activated to teach now. You can interview without it, but if you have a while left to complete it, it may be best just to wait a bit. :)

@@Nipoga1401 I am sorry you feel that way. But I have worked with, mentored and interviewed nearly 2000 teachers for various companies. Racism is definitely a thing, but in my experience with helping teachers, color is not what is causing them to not get hired. If you aren't getting hired, you are making one or more mistakes somewhere in your teaching techniques. What you may think is 'perfect' may not in fact be the case. Hi Kelly, I applied through indeed and got an email to select the time for interview, but when on itutor website i tried login and gave my basic info on first page, I couldn't go on to the next page to select time for interview. Hi! Sorry to hear about your tech trouble. 😔 It could be several things. Make sure you have your cam and mic settings for the itutorgroup page in chrome on 'allow'. Make sure you don't have other tabs/windows/apps open that can access your cam/mic. I am definitely not an IT person haha, but those are 2 reasons I have seen. 😅

Hi! Missing your interview is not a good start for you. They would have switched you to the automated interview so as to not waste the time of interviewers who they are paying to attend whether you do or not. Aside from that, I am not sure what you are asking? You can just complete the automated interview whenever you are ready. No need to register again. In terms of content of the automated interview, I unfortunately cannot assist with that. I have no experience with it, as I only conduct live ones. :(

I am guessing you are meaning for the intermediate level slide? You need to adjust your teaching skills and language accordingly to match the student's level. So less instructional TPR, and perhaps still some educational TPR as needed. You can use more incidental language. It is more 'conversational'. You want your student speaking lots - ask additional questions, probe more, and encourage full sentences as much as you can. Still give praise. And correct any errors you hear. :)
