ITV 1989 Generic - company stills

Has the opening and closing stills for each regional ITV franchisee from the 1989 generic look, with exception of TV-am (was one ever made for then?). If you wanted to see how the logo animated between the begining still and the end still, try a KZbin search as there are plenty of examples around - this is a mere summary!
This look was developed further by some companies (eg Border had a version made for Border News), some were altered, (Yorkshire changed their version to show the full chevron at the end), or simply not used (Anglia, Channel Television, Granada, Television South West, TVS Television and Ulster Television). And Grampian Television, Tyne Tees, Border and London Weekend Television reused the music/developed upon the music in later years. The music was also used and later developed upon for ITV National Weather. A KZbin search for any of these will usually yeild results.
Note: Most of these clips were found online and simply compiled into this video clip - as was the music. I claim no credit for anything!

Of all the ITV regions I'd say both ATV and Central had the most creative presentational graphics. Central in the mid-80s really went overboard with their graphics and they were a pleasure to watch. Nothing has ever beaten the 1970s ATV logo graphic with its fanfare though !

I discovered a CD I'd recorded about 12 years ago with this sound track on. It's brilliantly produced and addictive listening ! I've just driven down the M1 from Leicester to London with this playing on repeat. It never gets tiring to listen to.

Thames actually did two versions of this - 1989, and one to reflect their revised logo in 1990.

Central played around with their version quite a bit, using their own music on it and also combining it with their existing cake idents.

Scottish (my region) only used it but didn't fit so they went back to using the thistle

I thought this was just for Yorkshire Television at first cos the first thing i ever saw with this was YTV but i think this is amazing with how it was part of so many idents.

The TVS logo was based on the logo of TVS Entertainment, the holding company of Television South, which is why it doesn't resemble.

TigerWalrus26980 TVS' logo was a flower (or at least that's what it was meant to be). Agreed it would have been a better fit for the ITV Generic Ident. ***** sslaxx lancededcena123 EMP made idents for all the ITV regions, as seen in this video. However, some companies never used them - these were Granada, Anglia, Channel, TVS, TSW and Ulster. Also, Scottish only used theirs for a few months before dropping it altogether in favour of the full thistle.

This generic look works for some of the regions, and it just looks weird for others. It works for regions like Anglia and LWT because their logo patterns fit well in the V. But for regions like Thames, Tyne Tees, Yorkshire it just dosen't feel right.

Awful. You'd be forgiven for getting the impression there's no real talent working in TV graphics. These idents are like a warning that the quality of what follows is very likely going to be the same tired old rubbish you've been watching for years...
