Never saw Tweek's early sets at Xanadu, but I remember the first time I watched him play in bracket. Nine years ago at Genesis 3, my GOAT, Ranai, absolutely tore through the Genesis 3 bracket in his first ever US appearance, steamrolling FOW and Ally on his way to a nail biter game 5 winners final set against ZeRo. He then got kinda slapped around by Dabuz in an awful matchup, but it was also his first time traveling to compete on a big stage and he was EXTREMELY close to beating the best in the world at his peak. I was very hyped to see Ranai return to the states just two months later for Shots Fired 2. ZeRo wasn't attending, and he was seeded for the Dabuz rematch, but I believed that he would be more prepared than last time. Outside Dabuz, Ranai only had to beat AnTi and Mr R to make winner's finals, and he had already beaten Ally's Mario and gone last hit with ZeRo's Sheik so those sets seemed super doable. Victory wasn't assured, I was worried about Dabuz, but it seemed extremely possible. I was a Ranai believer. I was definitely not sweating his winner's side top 32 match against some guy named tweek who I heard played bowser jr. I was not a Tweek fan for a while after that lol. He's won me over since, though.
