Mamamoo is one of the groups that got me into kpop (Starry Night). I still adore many of their releases, but for me, the music post-contract renewal has felt somewhat soulless. Mamamoo were on the cusp of something amazing when Hip became a massive hit. However the results of songs after that have not been great. Where are we Now is a beautiful song, but ballads are easily forgotten in the fast-paced kpop world. The reception to Dingga, Aya, mumumumuch and Ilella have been pretty lukewarm. The last time the kpop community as a whole truly got excited over a Mamamoo song was Wanna Be Myself back in 2020, a song for a commercial. Mamamoo to RBW is what BTS is to Bighit. Imagine 2019 Bighit investing in Txt instead of pushing BTS further forward. Makes no sense right? That is what RBW did/is doing. The money is going towards Oneus and Purplekiss, who are not showing Mamamoo numbers (as expected). RBW is going to have a horrible realisation if all the members decide to leave the company next year.

Pretty sure that the term "falling off" is more used to refer to popularity rather than music quality. As far as I'm concerned, Itzy's music quality hasn't actually dropped, it just became different and some people can't get used it. They haven't fallen off.

To me it's probably Blackpink and Itzy. Like the last Korean title track I actually liked was Not Shy, and Dalla Dalla actually aged badly to me, which mean the only title tracks of Itzy that I like is Icy, Wannabe and Not Shy, with a special notice to the English version of Loco. I do not like the Korean version, but the English version surprisingly slaps hard for me. Regarding Blackpink Kill this love was a good song, however it was very repetitive, I absolutely love Lovesick Girls, it is my favorite title track of their's, and Ready to love is also a good song, however just like Kill this love it's very repetitive and therefore I found it quickly boring. Songs like Ice-cream, How You like that, Pink Venom and Shut down, I do not care for what so ever, and normally I wouldn't consider b-sides to be part of it, however I have listened to all their b-sides, and I like (some I love) all their b-sides, until the Album. I only like three songs on the Album including Lovesick girls, and with Born Pink I only listen to Ready to love. And honestly this entire thing with YG first deciding to give them solos, then suddenly decided that two songs is enough to be considered an album is absolutely laughable to me. I like Jennie's Solo, Rosé On the ground and Lisa's Money, however I'm not in love with any of the songs, and it doesn't feel like we are getting the quality of music we should be getting from them considering their status, company and the amount of years they have been in the industry. And lastly there's the lyrics. Sometimes they are plain mad, I can't remember if it was in Pink Venom or Shut it down, where's the lyrics about them never being gone or something like that was in, and that was just YG using Blackpink to plain and simple disrespect their own fandom. Also the lyrics doesn't really feel person to Blackpink at all. Theirs little to non personality or felling of the individual girls, and you could easily just give the songs to another girlgroup, because there's really nothing that makes them feel special. Edit. Also why was there a random Rosé solo on Born Pink, like they could literally had released it on her own solo "album"
@uwu_geisha3066 Жыл бұрын
first , when it comes to Born Pink album , every song is greatly produced and YG said on Hard to Love that its "little gift from Rosie to the Blinks" second , lyrics dont need always to make sense , their lyrics always do make sense its just few words that are "Ratata" or "Whip it Whip it Whip it", other groups do that stuff too but i see youre ignoring that fact when it comes to BP.... third , i see you love Lovesick girls , have bad times dealing with love huh? and no im not toxic nor trying to be rude but accept that they cant always do girly or boohoo T.T vibe , they love sassy in your face attitude, i dont wanna sit in my room and cry over some guy , i wanna feel good about myself and i wanna feel strong and answering on your last question : she deserves it? and DONT come at me with "but Jisoo...." Jisoo was not the only underrated member , Rose was with her too , and CURRENTLY looking at the likes and followers on IG Jisoo wins, she literally has 2 mil more followers than Rose , AND IT WAS LIKE THAT SINCE THE BEGINNING, i just hate when i see yall crying and complaining about Jisoo just cause you saw one random fan ignoring her just to run to LISA , not Rose but LISA , fan ignored Rose too, YOU KNOW :) yes i am Rose bias and ill always stand for her. Dont try to call me rude or toxic , maybe i sounded somewhere rude but i apologize even though i see my msg completely normal since there are no rude name calling or sending dead wishes/threats

@uwu_geisha3066 You wrote so much, yet so little of it makes sense. Me liking Lovesick Girls says nothing about my love life, and yes it does make you toxic for starting to mix personal life into this discussion. It's an upbeat song. If you sit and cry to it, that's on you. No matter what Hard to love is or the intention is, it's still doesn't make sense that they decided to give it a spot on a Blackpink album, and not on Rosé own stuff. Because one, Blackpink barely gets any music to begin with, and two Rosé has already debuted as a solo artist. And Jisoo not feeling ready to go solo, is up to her, and I aren't going to fight anyone about them. But there being "so many genres she wants to try" doesn't really makes sense, since where exactly is she trying them. Now Blackpink lyrics being bad with no depth has nothing to do with ratatat or whatever, every artist put in filler words and sounds. It's how little personality most of the songs have, and how you can basically give the songs to everyone else, because so little of their songs actually says anything about them as people or as a group.

The only reason they're so visible and popular is because you your engagement so idk what else to tell them 🤷🏿♀️. For the group though, I've been following them for so long and the way the fans behave it's impossible to have an honest opinion on them. They should have more experience by now but they undoubtedly have more knowledge on the brand deal side of things than anything else. Rosé is so passionate about music and I know if she had the choice she'd be dropping EPs the way skz and twice drops albums and singles. I would love to hear more from her. Also, I heard them talk about Coachella being the first time they figured out how to have fun while performing and it was such a monumental moment for them as people (not just as the brand BLACKPINK). But there's so much time in between comebacks also, the content and promo periods are so limited/ exclusive that they don't get the room to nourish and grow the lessons they've learned from previous activities imo. As fans who see their step by step we know they're talented and deserving of the success. However if a casual listener came in and listened to their whole discography back to back in a couple hours or days the growth in their sound, lyrics, line delivery, skills etc are actually at a snails pace and unimpressive next to their tenure as a group. What is growing at record speed is the glamor of it all. The fact that "most expensive music video yet" is what hypes the fans for a comeback rather than some interesting new thing about the music itself. And the fact that them swearing in the song rather than them trying to do something musically out of their comfort zone and outside the formula is what's hyped says alot about the expectations and focus from the fans on this group. I'll keep supporting and even as they grow up or delve into solo endeavours but I can't sit here and act like they're perfect. Done... I'm sorry lol Blackpink gets me rilled up

As a fan of blackpink since their debut and have experience every comebacks and ups and downs, it's really sad to see the current situation. I have to agree that Born Pink era was not as explosive as I expected, compared to their previous comebacks. But I think the reasons as to why blackpink seems to fell off in the general public & kpop fans' views is not really coming from their music quality (again music is subjective). But more of the way YG manages them and planned their schedules. Born Pink promotions was too short for the audiences to feel anything, and fans barely have any new content from them. YG definitely takes advantage of the fact that fans will eat up anything, so blinks ended up just ate anything left there is from the comeback or from the group in general. It doesn't really mean that the quality of their music is getting bad (again it depends on ppl taste). The biggest issue is that YG did not provide them a big enough space for them to grow as an artist, but instead focus on putting a very rush schedule and use the "biggest gg" as a shield to cover up the quality of the promotion. The hate that the girls receive it's ridiculous and haters just really take the label "biggest gg" as an excuse of standard to bash them, saying "they are the biggest gg then why do their music/performance is so bad". But heck YG literally put them on tour RIGHT AFTER the promotion comeback. The promotion was short af but during that time they have to constant flew btw Korea and US and Paris. I honestly think the whole promotion in the US was not worth it cause the Jimmy Kimmel stage was so bad (the stage was so dark 💀). Now they are gonna be on tour till next year, with barely any breaks between so honestly it's understandable if their performances and energy is not stable. And i have watch their tour stages it's not even that bad, there are moments they do seem to lack energy , but there are also moments the girls gives all out, it's just ridiculous the constant hate train the girls has to go through. *this is a long a** comment lol sorry but as someone has been with them from the beginning, I believe they deserve better and could do better if YG were to be smarter in their strategy

@@moonies321 totally agree. I definitely love all the songs on Born Pink but I can't argue with people who don't. It just might not be their personal taste. The 100yr hibernation they take in-between comebacks def reflects in their performances. It's like expecting someone who's been in a coma since 2010 to wake up today and use the internet as proficiently as someone who's been awake and present the entire time. I can't give too much to the girls in that.

the thing w dreamcatcher is that when ppl say they've fallen off, is because they don't like how they walked away from a more recognizeable rock sound that they debuted with, but didn't give them any noticeable growth compared to deja vu and thereafter. i see the divide as between 2 different eras: struggle era and 3rd gen shine era. they renewed their contracts today and honestly back during deja vu i really thought after losing to everglow, that it was it, no more, the company is gonna drop them. so i very much get why they left their older sound behind took more from their b-sides than usual. it has just caused a rift between fans who think that dc has fallen off the SECOND they got a win and way more recognition in the industry. that's telling .... all i can say is, where the fuck were y'all complainers at when they had the sound y'all 'wanted'???

Yeah since they debuted w such a distinct sound and concept some ppl make it seem like unless they’re releasing the same speed metal “anime vibes” music they had at debut they’ve abandoned their musical identity which I don’t really think is true. They’ve made it clear they wanna stick to the rock genre but the experimentation with that genre is what finally made them “stick” in the industry. I would love a TT from them that is more their older style BUT I’m certain that in the eye of most kpop fans it would be “too predictable, dated, sounds exactly like all their other songs”,etc. similar to the backlash gfriend faced with their song Crossroads. As someone who’s been a 127 stan for a long time, I feel like they’ve always made polarizing songs. I remember Fire Truck, Simon Says, Punch, and Wakey Wakey coming out and people hated them, said the whole “noise music” thing and whatever. Sticker and 2 Baddies are just the polarizing comebacks but having Favorite in between was like the palate cleanser so I think it’s just part of their cycle. So they’ve never been on my radar for falling off but I also own up to loving trashy music like 2 Baddies. I also feel like Chungha’s just been doing her thing. okay so while i like the girls in blackpink, i think that they have so much more potential. sure their songs are currently okay enough listens, i dont think they’re living up to the same hype that was around for cbs like DDUDU DDUDU. the sound was different to what they did beforehand, just slightly enough, for that cb to fill the expectations the fans had, and even surpass them. i remember when it came out and it was just fantastic! plus the energy around the girls at the time was just unreal. now, fans are basically being starved of content and YG is basically keeping them in the basement to come out and throw scraps anymore and the only reason we take those scraps is cause it’s the first thing we’ve gotten in relatively long time. some of the songs on the current album FAR surpass Pink Venom (in my opinion anyway). plus the sound isn’t as impactful or exciting as it was at the time of ddudu ddudu because we’ve heard those heavy instrumentals and not mention the members themselves seeming to have had more fun back then too. blackpink cant fill their own expectations since they already started off on a high note, then went PAST that high note. as a result, everything just feels the same and unfortunately less impactful. this doesn’t mean i think the recent cb was bad, just not up to usual par anymore.

honestly, as a music student, i believe the best way to judge music is by analyzing if it fits what is proposes to be and if it's effective on doing what it wants to do. not every song is about deep meanings and groundbreaking production, sometimes it's about fun or performance or making the listener feel a certain way. in that sense, i believe blackpink should get more recognition for being able to make music that makes so many people (specially women) feel great about themselves and confident enough to dance. beyond lyrics and producing and anything else, their music is about creating certain types of feelings in people. and that's definitely not something easy to do. i think that they are what they want to be and their music works the way it's supposed to, not just cause of the music but because of the girls' personalities and presence as well. an artist doesn't manage to get as big as they did and still are doing without having something special, privillege gives you a good mark to start but it doesn't take you all the way there.

Thank you for your honest video! Speaking personally, I disagree about Mamamoo. There’s been a fall off in quantity (the last two mini-albums have only had seven songs between them) and frequency, but not in quality. The last three mini-albums (Travel, WAW, MIC ON) are full of music that I can’t get enough of. I think it’s important to remember that the title tracks by themselves can give a misleading impression of a group’s musical trajectory. For me, and especially for a group like Mamamoo, the B-sides are just as important (and there are a lot more of them). The two B-sides on the latest comeback (1,2,3 Eoi! and L.I.E.C) are pure fire 🔥 for me. I can’t get enough of them, either listening to the mini-album on repeat in the car, or watching the enormously fun live stages on KZbin. Respectfully, I can’t take your criticism seriously that Mamamoo’s B-sides are only worth listening to one or two times. They have about 80 B-sides on their two albums and thirteen mini-albums! If you’ve listened to them all and that’s your opinion, then fair enough (but I disagree and don’t understand 😅). If you haven’t listened to them all, then here’s a list of 30 of my favourite A-side-quality B-sides: Peppermint Chocolate, Don’t Be Happy, Gentleman, Sting (A Little Bit), Ahh Oop!, Taller Than You, My Hometown, I Miss You, Recipe, Cat Fight, Memory, I Love Too (Never Letting Go), AZE GAG, Star Wind Flower Sun, Rude Boy, Paint Me, Rainy Season, Sky! Sky!, No More Drama, Waggy, Bad Bye, Destiny, Hello Mama, Dingga, Chuck, Diamond, Wanna Be Myself, Another Day, 1,2,3 Eoi!, L.I.E.C. I’ve left out many more that I think are just as good in their own way, and I’ve left out all the solo songs and subunit songs.

When it comes to Mamamoo, I will have to disagree. I wouldn't say they fell off. More that they are not growing as much anymore. When it comes to their solos, it is really close to their personal colours. Wheein's music is very for the Korean taste. Especially their Indie-pop/R&B that they have been liking for a while. I wouldn't say thay it's just like BOL4, but it's in that realm. Moonbyul's music is closer to her personal tastes as well. While I prefer the darker and earlier releases, the music is really her. It makes sense that Hwasa’s seems better because the production and genre fit both international and domestic preferences. I will agree with AYA. It flopped even in Korea which is their main bastillon of listeners. But, Mamamoo's recent comeback is literally very similar to the GOGOBEBE/HIP era. And, as far as numbers/sales go, they are the most stable. I do not think that MAMAMOO fell off. I'd argue that some people probably don't vibe with them. If anything, they are one of the groups with the most stable fanbase (like the ratio between fan departures, OG fand and new fans). AYA was that one song that was a miss. I will agree to that.

Imo, nct 127 didn't fell off, they never did. people would count anything as a "failure" if they dislike it. no matter how much an artist try, there will always be people who'd say they "fell off." why? because it doesn't suit their taste. I like the sound of nct 127 and they're probably my most favourite subunit out of every nct subunit. no artist sticks to one genre or concept. they constantly change as they starts to get "older." nct 127's music may have changed but it still has that neo feeling. I'm actually glad that SM is experimenting stuffs rather than sticking to one concept or genre. the main issue is, everytime they release something people say "it's trash" but later they come to like it. now people are saying cherry bomb, superhuman, limitless, simon says are masterpieces but there was a time when they used to hate these songs as well. many are saying sticker is nice but when it was released, people said "SM forgot how to produce music." imo no groups falls off. it's up to a person's taste. yes there are some songs from them which I dislike but that doesn't mean I count them as a fell off group just because it didn't suit my taste

First of all, Boss is NCT U's song and this is the first problem. Non fans, and now that I'm looking at it, and fans alike have this problem with understanding that NCT is a "divided" group, each fixed unit has their own sound. We go out of our way to stream "bad" songs but y'all won't go out of your ways to stream the "good" ones. You legit brushed over Favorite and Punch in favor of Boss, a song that's not even theirs. I absolutely love Sticker even if the flute may be a bit too much sometimes, had great raps, great vocals, and an interesting beat. I don't think I'll ever come to terms to explain how much I like what Dem Jointz has been creating with 127 (he does have Arcade with Dream too). As for 2 Baddies, it was a failure lyric wise but not in production. The bridge, breakdown, that final chorus, to me that's music Now with Superhuman, I love her, it's a personal favorite but I've come to notice she's quite disliked. That negative energy Sticker gets on the daily should be put positively over the great songs they've done but we know how k-pop stans function. Anyways 2 Baddies is definitely unbalanced but Sticker is great and I will leave on that and the fact they've managed to outdo themselves with every album they've released. 2 Baddies is Aoty, I don't make the rules.

My main three complaints with the label "fell off" are: A) They are only basing it on their personal opinion of a song or two. Just because you personally don't like a song, doesn't mean it's not good. B) They use it on a group when their comeback numbers aren't setting records. (Lower album sales or no all-kill at a music show, stuff like that.) Sometimes, fantastic songs don't do great numbers. *cough* Dreamcatcher C) They use it because a group's comeback wasn't well-organized by the company, even though the music is really good. (No teasers, few music show performances, two sets of stage outfits, minimal album design, etc.)
@mayojuno11 ай бұрын
definitely! when i hear people say that groups have "fallen off" i generally take it with a huge pinch of salt for the reasons you've mentioned. other people's subjective opinions of songs have no bearings on my own subjective opinions, and popularity of a group isn't what i personally prioritize, so most reasons for groups being said to "fall off" don't matter to me. i think there's a lot of nuance and self-awareness missing in the kpop community's treatment of things like music quality or stylistic preferences, so i don't tend to take comments about "falling off" very seriously at all.

@nick38052 жыл бұрын
For me, it's absolutely baffling how Itzy went from "I'm the Mafia" to "Puuuuuut my sneeeeeaaaakers ooooooon! One, two, ready, get set go!" As for NCT127: I have nothing to say of them. I use Sticker as alarm clock as I jump off instantly to turn it off as soon as it starts. And The Fact that they released a title track in which they pronounced the key part of the chorus wrong! The 'e' is pronounced! It's a short 'e', Porsche is a German Family Name and Germans pronounce the letters they write! We don't write letters that we don't pronounce, that's the thing of English and French speakers. Another group where I see a decline is BTS if I'm being honest. This has been said countless times, both justified and unjustified, but that's my honest perspective. The last good song BTS released was Suga's Solo, Daechwita and for group releases it was On. The other songs were uncreative and uninspired as well as just such an obvious attempt to get a Grammy and fully land in the western Main Stream that I guess it was unavoidable. The lyrics have no depth (I'll just say: 'Smooth like Butter, pull you in like no other, don't need no usher, to remind me you got it bad, Ain't no other, that can sweep you up like a robber, straight up, I got ya, Making you fall like that') and if they do, it doesn't even come close to their old masterpieces. The songs are full of autotune that makes the members' voices sound all the same and... I didn't recognise RM's voice in Pt(S)D, how did they even do that??? I'm not going to say anything more about the topic. Even their fans seem to know deep down that the songs are bad, otherwise they wouldn't scream "(insert any BTS song from after Daechwita) is a gift from BTS to ARMY! Ewewewewew!" as if that changed anything. If you can't even find points that make those songs good and have to rely on them supposedly being a gift to argue in favour of them then maybe, just maybe, you should just take the option into consideration that the songs just aren't good.
@g.g.11762 жыл бұрын
As a fellow German, thank you for mentioning the pronounciation of Porsche! I absolutly hate when people deliberately pronounce german brand names wrong. It's one thing if you seriously don't know and mispronounce names, but majority of german brand names are getting butchered in the english language. And when it comes to songs I can't stand it. Like, whoever wrote that song/sang the demo for it/produced it... Like no one thought "maybe we should look how this is actually pronounced in case we say it totally wrong". And it happens with a lot of brands from other countries that don't originally come from the US as well. Like why does no one care for that?

I got so very excited when the Flip That teasers came out because I thought the change in directions would be a good thing but... flip that was so bad... and I barely like the b-sides besides Playback. Because I became a fan of 127 only a few months ago, and I became a fan BECAUSE of Sticker! 😂 I have liked kpop for a long time and randomly clicked on sticker one day, and i was hooked. I genuinely love the song and I don’t just stream it to support nct, I stream it because I think it’s a genius bop 😂 I actually didn’t realise people hated Sticker until I went into the comments section of the video. I also genuinely like 2 Baddies. I think 127’s music has actually evolved (their old stuff is still really good ofc) and I think they are leaning more into the ‘Neo Culture Technology’ concept nowadays. Trust me when I say many people genuinely like these songs. Her songs broke records too but she actually wrote her own songs and it’s proof that blinks don’t care about actual songs that make sense or have a powerful meaning behind them. If Lisa released on the ground her Stan’s would eat the song up but since it’s Rosé they care less. It’s weird because Lisa could release a song about ducks and her Stan’s would eat the song up. It seems most of Blackpink songs are about how being baddies or how much money they have and that’s why as a group they need to switch it up.

I sadly agree for Mamamoo, their music is not hitting as it did before and it's the company's fault. I discovered them at the MAMA awards in 2018 with that phenomenal stage with everyone in red! Listened to their stuff ever since and I was over the moon when I first heard Gogobebe. At that time even their songs for promoting products were amaziing (I believe that Gleam is actually an ad for glasses). Then HIP happened and it was massive - different from the 4 seasons 4 colors project completely, but it just catapulted them. ThenTravel album happened... and that's where the downfall started, in my opinion. Dingga was cute, but I couldn't relate it to MMM at all (I kinda like it now, but it's really not my cup of tea). AYA felt like it was created for end-of-the-year shows because if MMM is performing, the performance has to have a massive stage. Yes, I liked the stages, but the song really felt like it wasn't created for a group, but for that performance on MAMA and MMA and other award shows. Even though I like b-sides on Travel album more than released songs, I don't see how the songs and their topics connect, which is something we had a lot of in 4S4C. Where are we now was forgettable, but that song had written "the end" all over it for me - in terms of the last comeback MMM had with all girls under RBW. I considered getting that album, but that's where RBW totally messed up with packaging and distributing it. And now ILLELLA.... what the hell is even that song? For any other group, it would be a solid bop, but for MMM this is offensive. It feels like it was made just for the sake of making something to shut the fans up and RBW is messing up promotions completely. You know what's bizzare to me about ILLELLA stages? For the first time my bias, Hwasa, does not pop on the screen for me at all. You know who does? Wheein. She is so relaxed during this mess of a comeback, she's glowing. And to think back on her struggles thinking she's not vibrant enough in MMM next to other girls... It really shows that she's having good time in new company and that they treat her well. Sorry for this rant, it's just that I've been a pretty active MooMoo back in the day and it breaks my heart to see RBW failing these 4 amazing talented gems. I really hope Byul opens her own company and they all ditch RBW.

I think it's true that you don't have to listen to a whole discography to know of you like an artist or not, the title tracks are chosen based on which represents best the artist/album's sound, so if you're not into the main track of an album, you're just simply not gonna be that interested to check out the rest, specially if it's an artist you listen to casually, for me personally, if I don't like a title track, I will only listen to the album if it's an artist I really love, but other than that, is just a no for me and that's it Edit: I thought you were gonna talk about PENTAGON, I know they are not your cup of tea, but I love them personally, I just really enjoy their music, however it would be cool to hear your perspective on them

I get the unappeal from NCT’s music from what people and mainly non nctzens say but what I feel like people forget, especially nctzens is that they would always complain about how kpop has gotten very generic and predictable but when a group like nct makes different music it gets trashed on. Like they would get trashed for songs like Touch, lots of people didn’t like it for being too basic. But when it comes to songs like Punch, sticker, superhuman etc. they get more trashed on. And it’s funny when people say that the best songs of nct were kick it, regular, or Boss when those songs are very basic and generic in melody and rhythm too. So how can you say something is generic but get mad when something is different and settle in with the basic stuff when just talking shit about it? NCT for a while had been experimenting with different sounds but it seems they settled on this noisy sound. They finally took the “neo” and “technology “ from their name and put it as their actual brand which is why we hear all these “new” (neo) and “futuristic/mechanic” (technology) sounds. It’s like nct can never satisfy kpop fans with their sound, not even their audience. Their music is not bad, ofc to each their own but considering what I explained about how kpop fans act towards kpop music, I don’t think it’s fair to consider NCT in this list. Especially when they do great in charts and numbers.

The thing with Blackpink that hurts me the most is the lack of passion. As a BTS fan who has dipped her toes in the Blackpink space, the difference is very stark. (This is not to start a fan war or anything this is just for point of comparison). BTS have a lot of passion for they’re art and their songs. Even during their English releases, BTS always put forth their all. Even if the lyrics weren’t super deep and meaningful like their other songs, they still sang every note with as much passion as possible. BTS (in my opinion) respect their fans time, efforts, and support. Blackpink do not (not from where I’m sitting at least). BTS communicate to ARMY when things change, like when they announced their change in schedule. Even if they don’t need to, BTS go out of their way to give their fan base more than we deserve and that resonates. I am by no means trying to say that Blackpink as people are selfish. What I am trying to explain is that bittersweet feeling towards the members, the group, and the BlackPink brand. I don’t think they need to go to the extent of BTS. There’s a reason why BTS is so huge and why they have such a strong and dedicated fan base. In fact, I don’t think many other groups should or even can replicate BTS’s devotion. BUT Blackpink’s lack of efforts, enthusiasm, or shits given especially during their promotions and stages, is just downright disrespectful. I don’t think Blackpink are selfish, but they are doing less than the bare minimum knowing that they’re fans will support them anyway, neglecting to take into account their fans who bought tickets and albums, who streamed their producer’s mediocre songs for hours on end to make sure they broke records, and fans who’s unwavering support allows them to get all the brand deals and buy all of their designer that they talk about so much. In return for all this support they couldn’t even do as much as to or pretend to give their all in their performances. I think Blackpink have abused their privilege and I can’t really even defend their place as the second biggest kpop act or as THE biggest kpop girl group anymore especially when looking at groups like Stray Kids, Red Velvet, Twice, etc. Groups who bring their entire asses to their projects and promotions with far less if any time off. I really hope you all understand what I’m trying to say and that I’m not trying to bash Blackpink but rather criticize them.

I think the issue here is that , you probably got into bts, or other groups before getting into BLACKPINK, and other groups probably do most, if not all of the things you said BLACKPINK doesn’t do, so you subconsciously/unconsciously associated that with all idol groups. I don’t work at YG, and I can’t tell you what happens there, but what I can tell you is that BLACKPINK has passion for what they do, and they really love their fans. Others may not see it, blinks see it, and that’s what matters to the girls.

@@jjan3 Actually, Blackpink has passion and loves blinks a lot. They wanted to meet blinks as much as possible, having comebacks, and write their songs so much that Jennie said she even kept a whole notebook full of lyrics and stuff. They can’t show it much because of YG’s control. They wanted to ‘bring their entire asses’, but YG doesn’t let them. When Jisoo,Jennie and the members finally got credited for Lovesick Girls and for other songs they were so happy about it. Thus, they did not ‘fall off’ because of the so called ‘not having much passion’. They also loved the blinks a lot and doesn’t treat them as ‘song streamers’ nor ‘endorsement buyers’. They did not abuse their privilege at all, but some people see it as the girls fault, because the company made them like so. Their songs are so called ‘mediocre’ by people because they didn’t have any control in writing lyrics and it’s YG and Teddy who made the songs. The girls have no choice but to follow them.

I don’t think any of these groups fell off, I just think the concept, specifically girl crush, was over-used and it just became boring and thus people have started to turn away from it. Same thing happened with cute concept with groups like SNSD, A-pink, TWICE, and Lovelyz and which is why groups like Blackpink became so popular when they did. The reason why groups like NewJeans are doing so well now is because it’s something that isn’t heard much. Now that they are gaining popularity, I can guarantee you that there will be hundreds of other groups copying them and that style since it’s the new trend. Eventually, it will become overdone and probably the cute concept, or sexy will come back and the cycle will go on and on again.

I love loona for butterfly, stay because of solos and b-sides, and didn't really expect them to release another earth shattering titles after butterfly. I do dissapointed with so what and why not, but its fine when I got PTT and flip that. back into the topic of fell off, I understand orbits that expect them to release song similar to [++] and [xx] but I don't think they fell off yet especially with PTT. They just did what they have been doing from start, experimenting with new sound yet still had loona's feel to it. I might not like all of them, but loving more than half songs in each mini album sounds like a great deal for me even if I don't like the title.

Nah calling a song terrible and saying that it only got views because its the artist popular is invalid. Just because you don't like a song it doesn't mean thats it is personally I loved both Lisa's solos and I still listed to them almost everyday If you don't like a song it doesn't mean its terrible for everyone. If lalisa only got views because of popularity why didn't ytc?

Appreciate the work and video, and I agree on pretty much all fronts. I hope to see these groups come back, I don't stan any of these groups, but I'd say I'm a casual listener. I haven't like a NCT 127 song since Superhuman or Highway to Heaven whichever came last but I can see they have potential, it's the same for all these groups though they work crazy hard so I hope they can come back!

I think a lot of it comes down to expectations - anyone who's a fan has at least some expectations for every release, and when they're not met, unless the song is really good they'll be disappointed, even if that same song ends up drawing in new fans. Aside from things like sales or awards, how good a certain song is is subjective, e.g. some of the songs you mentioned as disappointments are some of my favorites from those groups (Visions for DC, Villain for PIXY).

i don’t know WHAT jyp thinks they’re doing with itzy honestly….i never stanned them, but they were a pretty outstanding group. you could see their talent in performing, the production value was amazing, their writers were really hitting, and now it just? you can’t see any of that anymore? the music feels kind of vague and generic, and god knows their title tracks lately haven’t shown off the girls’ talents at all. tracks like icy, while more out there, still slayed because the members shone, but with comebacks like sneakers and boys like you, they’re just not given anything to work with. and when your members don’t look impressive performing the songs, none of them are going to hit right - and they haven’t been

Blackpink should change their name to "Pick me girls" because their discography has become lots of pick me lyrics and flexing, that's the only thing they can do and its boring.

I noticed the songs you don't like is repeative hook chorus songs. For example, I personally didn't mind Purple Kiss' Memem because of the concept is similar to Loco's Itzy. PK kept their dark concept and went for "going crazy" track aka what like call "Assa style" track. However, Itzy needs some help because WTH is up with their marketing team and AR. Chungha's Snapping and Replay kept momentum till was at her peak. But I think she's being stunted by her company and the economy. I agree with NCT tho funny enough bc I was why SMent "What is this?" I think you need to mention VIVIZ too hear too.

VIVIZ just debuted and had 1 comeback (I don't know if this from the UNIVERSE app counts). So it doesn't count.
