It does hurt a little for three minutes but it’s probably worth it for the five years it can last. Unfortunately my iud expelled after I decided to get it done after finding this channel. But I would still encourage others to try it as all bodies are different. I’m not giving up. I’m trying the arm implant which I found out about through dr kristina too. I have endometriosis so it’s really important to me and i love your channel. ❤️❤️ Thank you

I got my IUD inserted 5 weeks ago. It was a way better experience than I expected. I haven't had any problems, some cramping on and off but nothing unbearable. Overall I'm very happy with my experience.

i can tell you all from experience that your doctors technique matters! Yes all IUDs go in the same place ... but not all doctors get it there the same way! :/

Your videos helped so much to ease my worries, thank you! Insertion was definitely uncomfortable but it was over and done with very quickly and definitely worth it for 5 yrs of contraception! :)

Got my Kyleena inserted today and I felt a pinch and slight pressure, but it was over so fast I didn’t even know what happened. Had some mild cramping after, but nothing horrible. Your videos really helped ease my mind beforehand! Now I don’t have to worry about birth control for 5 years :)

Everyone’s body is different, but I passed out from the pain and threw up. And have spent the rest of the day trying to recover. It may be that it wasn’t a gyno and was just a doctor but definitely the worst pain I have ever been in. It makes me terrified of the removal

Sorry to hear about your experience. Inserter experience/expertise can certainly have an impact on the degree of discomfort. Be reassured that removal is typically far less uncomfortable compared to insertion (see video #13). -Dr. Dervaitis

Had mine inserted June 3rd here in Northern Ontario and mine saved my life in ways no one would expect. I thought it was bad uterine pain I had at the end of the month. I went to the ER. After ct scan I went onto emergency appendectomy for ruptured appendix and my appendix wasn’t on the right side it was in the middle!!! It saved my life. I have to go for ultrasound for placement check when I am recovered enough as ct showed it sitting low. I will forever be grateful for the piece of plastic that saved my life.

I had Kyleena inserted last week. I've had worse period cramps but the actual insertion of the kyleena was worse than any of the cramping. The cramping I could deal with but this other intense pain was awful. I'm also disappointed that my provider hadn't supplied any kind of clean up items or that I was advised that I needed to bring my own wipes. I hadn't had a good experience at all.

I didn't feel any sort of pain on insertion... not even discomfort to be honest! And I was so worried about it because all the accounts I read on the internet. 😄

My insertion felt like a sharp pain my doctor told me it would hurt for a couple seconds and my cramps since I’m on my period hurt worse 😭😰😰 I felt dizzy and hot afterwards everyone Is different so not the same experience. If I’d known it hurt that bad I would have taken some painkillers before the insertion

Sorry to hear this, I hope that your pain improved afterwards and that the dizzy feeling didn’t last for long (some patients can experience this briefly, it’s called a “vasovagal” reaction). While some doctors recommend taking NSAID medications (like Advil) before insertion, some studies have shown that it may not make that much of a difference. I tell my patients to take NSAIDs for the cramping afterwards. -Dr. Dervaitis

I'm so angry at myself. I keep listening to horror stories and taking out my iuds even though I have had no serious side effects from any of the 3 iuds. Because of my stupidity I have to go to planned parenthood to have a liletta iud inserted with no numbing spray, cream or injection. I'm scared to have a iud insertion without numbing medication. Ladies if your iud is not giving you serious side effects do not take it out. Don't make the bad decision I made to listen to horror stories. Remember that it is mostly people with negative experiences that post and people with positive experiences don't post too often.

😕Kenniana you sound so frustrated! Sorry to hear all of this. The internet can be such a scary place sometimes. If it doesn’t work out for you, remember that contraception is about choice, and there are still other options. All the best, Dr. Dervaitis

@@dr.kristinadervaitis789 I'm just mad at myself because the iuds worked for me and they were causing me no problems and I took them out just because of horror stories. There was no reason for me to have the iuds removed. The iuds worked so well for me.

@@kennianamonje2381 the numbing solutions can actually make pain worse. Ask your doctor if it's possible to prescribe a prescription strength option for either pain and/or anxiety if thats what is bothering you.

Get pregnant and have children there is higher chance of having cerval dyplastia and abnormal cells and HPV on cervix Birth control like IUD and birth control medication cause abnormal cells and HPV on cervix CIN 1 2 3 not cancer Had high grade cerval cancer CIN 3 and HPV on cervix used eschorotic treatment were put tampons with medication on them put in side of female patient cervix. Normal pap smear still got pregnant, did not hurt sexual function this is natural way to heal cerval dyplastia and abnormal cells and HPV on cervix. Having IUD put in cause my cancer
