That front piece of "glass" was probably designed for nothing more than fall and impact protection. Like a tear away for motocross, it was meant to be an expendable part of the product long term. The speaker thing is definitely concerning. If someone is picking them up by the straps or carrying them that way long term, how long before that speaker area becomes damaged.

It seems that the front glass panel acts like a glass protector, similar to the one we put on a smartphone, cool. Just a side note about the drop test: your walls are hollow, and your floor has parquet. Therefore, this particular drop test is impressive for a typical US house, but may not be applicable to those built with concrete, bricks, and tiles, where the glass may break at the second drop.

In all seriousness I am not a hater of it and can see some potential but unless there are some cool games for it I am not sure how this has any real use at the moment. A $2000 price point with lot of stuff for it may make this a contender as the next big thing. They have to convince me that this is the thing I got to have that I did not know I needed.

I wonder if Apple intentionally designed the speaker/band to be the weak point. Similar to how cars have a bumper/crumple zone that is designed to take the majority of the force from the impact. I assume it’s much cheaper to replace the speaker/band than to replace the whole Vision Pro. With that being said, I’m no scientist and I don’t know if this realistically could be the case. What you're experiencing is laminated glass. It's designed to break in that way, to prevent shards flying everywhere. Sorry to say that it's really not that impressive, since it's....designed to be that way. Also, you have to remember that something is only as strong as it's weakest link. So I think the speakers and headband damage is more worrisome than the the display is robust. Hope they improve things for the next version.
