Most of them are hood rappers that grew up wanting success in hustling and grinding mentality of not giving a damn about anything else. And now they have it. One line that Drake said in Family Matters somewhat bothered me: "Always Rapping like you bout to get the slaves freed". A very out of touch line, especially since a large chunk of Hip-Hop (pretty much the standard) is about personal expression and social issues, just go to The Roots, NWA, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, the list goes on (I got a lot of dumb replies from people saying “there’s context to the line”… THE LINE IS STILL DUMB. The thing about Nicki is she's actually very talented and as far as rapping is the female equivalent we have to Kendrick where they can both do voice changes, cadence changes and are nice to listen to because the way they rap is never boring. Too bad that due to likely some very internalized misogyny and her personality and disposition, Nicki has become overly sensitive, protective, territorial and unhinged especially when it comes to other female rappers. One thing that label execs have realized that a lot of casual hip-hop fans haven't, is that Nicki's fans are the only ones actually supporting female rappers. No one is an actual fan of female rap besides the Barbz. These new rappers literally need a Nicki cosign because without it, there's no consistent fanbase for them to draw from. It's not that Nicki is overstaying her welcome or stopping anyone from coming up, it's that new female rappers just aren't good enough to stand on their own despite the massive amount of money labels are sinking into their careers. Nobody cares about female rap except for Barbz. For a long time labels thought they could just bully Nicki out of the industry, propping up Iggy, then Remy, and finally Cardi to knock her off the top. And it always works in the short term by garnering sympathy from people who hate Nicki Minaj for one reason or another, only for them to fall off as those same Nicki haters lose interest and the Barbz blacklist said artists. Even Cardi B who won a Grammy for Best Rap Album with her debut album still hasn't released a second album 6 years later and struggles to get her singles to chart in the top 10 or even stay on the Hot 100 for more than a few weeks. While these new artists may be capable of pulling Nicki out of character, she still snaps right back into form and comes out of it even bigger than before. If Nicki stopped making music today, female rap might literally die it's second death.

If the rap girls actually work hard for it and actually get it out the mud like Nicki did they could come close to to what Nicki has, the same conversation about who is this generation's Michael Jackson will be had about who's the next generation's Nicki when it comes to female rap (that's if it doesn't die once Nicki actually retires for real) cause they tried with the whole "Cardi's the New Nicki" "Meg's the New Nicki" "Doja Cat's the New Nicki" they always do this when a new girl starts popping especially when their popularity is some what in close proximity to Nicki. Overstaying their welcome is the best way to really put it. What we're seeing with Nicki is just a bigger, more accelerated version of what's happening with Drake imo. I've thought for the longest time that Drake is just as thin-skinned and petty as Nicki, he's just been better at hiding it/playing it off or had more people covering for him than Nicki had covering for her. Their heydays have passed and they're not evolving as people OR as artists. Drake hung on longer because of how he uses other artists (most unknowns) and hops on whatever wave or trend keeps young people interested.
