What is special about this seal is that during that time every other seal was in Persian language, even Shahji Raje's own seal but he made sure his young son Shivaji's seal should be in Sanskrit, which was very novel thing in those times. Maybe they already had a conviction that his son will establish an independent Hindavi Swarajya! Shivaji Maharaj continued this work by establishing the Rajya Vyavahar kosha through which Marathi was purified of the FAT and Sanskrit words for administration were re-introduced.

Chatrapati Shvaji Maharaj wanted to bring back original culture back. So, he not only made sure he had a Sanskrit shlok on his rajmudra but he also ordered all official documents to be in Marathi and Sanskrit. He also ordered to create a "shabdkosh" for Marathi as Farsi and Urdu was taking over and Marathi words were going out of use. He was one of the first kings in a long time who dared to do such thing even when his empire was surrounded by all different Muslim empires.

Rajamudra here is the REAL authentic mudra of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaja adopted after his Coronation: श्री महादेव श्री तुळजाभवानी शिवनृपरूपेणोर्वीमव तीर्णोयः स्वयं प्रभु र्विष्णुः एषा तदीय मुद्रा भूबळयस्याभयप्रदा जयती TRANSLATION:- "Glory to Mahadeva, Glory to Bhavani the Establisher, In this form of Emperor Shri Shivaji, Vishnu Himself has come to grant security to this Planet Earth." Even in the Western calendar, the birthday of Chhatrapati Shivraji should be March 1 (today's Gregorian calendar) not Feb 19 (disbanded Julian calendar in the 1700's). All over the world, old Julian dates are transposed to Gregorian when celebrating birthdays of people born in the Julian system. We Bharatiya's have not even followed that correctly, instead celebrating it incorrectly on Feb 19th ! What can I say!
