@waltzingangel Yes, I assume that people who are quoting a musical to make an outlandish argument on subject matter they are otherwise completely 100% ignorant on are, in fact, deriving their opinion of Hamilton's personality from the musical. I would wager that, if asked, they would also believe Hamilton's influence actually prevented Aaron Burr from becoming president (which any of us with actual historical knowledge know is false; their duelling quarrel resulting from a gubernatorial contest). It's common sense, try some or take Burr's character's advice on talking less.

But just from the 100% clear historical facts in the musical (eg. the Federalist Papers) you can tell that he is not a person who likes to stay quiet. Even if all you know about Alex is from the musical, you'd still have a *much* more accurate image of him than the reporter did. Also, a quick google search shows that the image his personality that is given in the musical is indeed accurate.
