Swallows on the wire. My memory of a beautiful childhood... Beautiful song and video.

Glorious, masterful singing.

Many thanks for this and bravo to the tenor. I read a bio on Gurney 45 years ago, had since listened to some of his songs and read some of his poems--a sensitive soul as all great artists are.

Thank you for posting this wonderful song, so beautifully sung by Ian Bostridge. Equally beautiful, from the Elizabethan songs, is "Tears". I have a CD on Naxos of Susan Bickley singing it, accompanied by Iain Burnside. It is all Gurney songs, and is one of my top favourite CDs.

Lovely monochrome photos; like how you placed the owl at the end. This is my equal favourite interpretation with Ian & Jennifer Partridge's recording. Interesting that you have placed his name by mistake at the end of your notes.

Thank you. Whose name did I place by mistake?

Come, Sleep, and with thy sweet deceiving Lock me in delight awhile; Let some pleasing dream beguile All my fancies; that from thence I may feel an influence All my powers of care bereaving! Though but a shadow, but a sliding, Let me know some little joy! We that suffer long annoy Are contented with a thought Through an idle fancy wrought: O let my joys have some abiding O let my joys have some abiding.

A great favourite of mine. Beautifully made video. Stunning photos. May I ask what program you use to put the videos together?

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately, I had to sign in to Google+, which, putting it midly, I dislike, even to reply to your comment. I use ProShow Gold to assemble my slideshows. Best wishes.
