You have a unique style in grafting, it stand out different from others people grafting. I thought wrapping the scion with parafilm or plastic bag is prevent from rain or sun damage. I think your style makes more sense " wet the paper towel and cover with plastic to keep it moist" . thank you sir for teaching us the right way.

Just grafted my neighbors cherry tree to my peach tree yesterday. I am so eager to see if they take! I took all of your tips into consideration and used your paper towel method. I also grafted my uncle eureka lemon onto my Meyer. It may be a tad early but I tried it anyway since it’s warming up a bit here in Northern California z9b

Patti Hayden Hello Patti! Happy New Years!!! We’re so excited for 2020 & hope this will be all of our best growing seasons EVER! I saw your last comment- but fell behind in response- so glad you wrote me again! Anything I can do to help/ share with you, please do not hesitate to ask! However, that grapefruit we all ate from about a year ago is now the site of a pigmy palm. 🙁 However, I’ll try to find the source for the best citrus cuttings that can safely be shared- as citrus has a lot of diseases that are under strict transportation rules. Citrus greening & miner are just a couple big concerns. Please keep in touch!!! Charles 🌱👍

Charles, What is you opinion on grafting tools? They are pretty inexpensive and look like they would work on slightly thinner wood than your fig cutting. But it makes perfect mating cuts. Thoughts?

Hi Charles, I moved my fig tree a few years back and it went into shock and it did nothing the following year. The next year it came up but only like a foot if that so figuring it was in a bad spot I moved it again and last year it grew to only about a foot again. Can I take a cutting from that and try and root it to start a new plant? When should I cut it and should I only take 1 cutting or take the whole foot and cut it in half to try and root 2 six inch cuttings? Thanks Joe - Before I moved it the first time it was a beautiful fig tree and produced tons of figs.

Can you also graft a pear? How to do it?
@IVOrganic2 жыл бұрын
Hello Ricky 👋 YES pears can be grafted on related (not the same) pear varieties. Some even have success grafting pears onto apples- but don’t last, nor heal as well in general. Best times to graft are late winter, after last chance of frost has passed: for me in Los Angeles it’s late January to early February. Or you can approach graft in spring, summer & early fall! Good luck! Charles 🌱👍

@kevinbowyer55924 жыл бұрын
Charles I received my Figo Preto cutting yesterday, and I’m very excited to graft it. I currently have a panache tiger stripe tree and a Violette de Bordeaux tree. Would either one have an advantage over the other to receive the Figo Preto cutting? I was also considering purchasing a new potted fig tree and grafting the Figo Preto to that and planting it as it’s own tree, do you think that is a better idea? Thanks!
@IVOrganic4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Bowyer Hello 👋 I’d recommend grafting into an established in-ground tree, rather than a potted tree for maximum vigor- fastest healing & growth. Charles 🌱👍

The bunny in the back is stealing the show! He definitely is photo bombing! I am fascinated by graphing and i am just curious of course and this may be a silly question but is it possible for the grafts to eventually grow out? Can you graft different fruits on any tree? Do they have to be the same kind of fruit trees? Can you put an apple and pear tree? I currently have grown from seed a red pear tree and she is tiny but an adorable little seedlings. I can't wait till she is big enough to graft. This is a tree i want to stay inside my house in my livingroom as a plant, I really hope the tree will be fine for a few years inside. I will be taking the tree inside and outside to get at least 6 hours of sun everyday unless its to cold. As it does hrow i want to try graphting but i am so worried it would kill the tree?

needabettername So long as the string does not break as you secure the graft- at least 6-8 lbs, or more. I think mine was 4-6 lbs, because it broke easily in my hands. Charles 🌱👍

@@IVOrganic Ok thanks Charles, I wasn't sure if transporting across borders would be a issue. Funny thing with this border cross contamination, I can see other countries restriction but ours is just a line on the map that doesn't restrict anyone other than humans. Birds, bugs and the rest of nature flow freely! Kind of a oxymoron. You know 1st time I viewed one of your videos I thought, Oh who is this fast talking salesman but then noticed the flow of free information and the energy you put forth loving everything botanious (look a new word Lol) and I enjoy the knowledge you put forward. Hey My middle name is Charles after my Grandfather, great name and vaccinated with a gramophone needle also. Cheers

How much potash can I put on my avocado tree?
@IVOrganic4 жыл бұрын
Daddy Dustin Miller What’s the source? Wood ash? Regardless, use sparingly if it does not come from a package with specific application instructions- as wood ash (for instance) can change the soil pH. So, as they say, ‘less is more.’ Also, don’t just add potash- apply a balanced organic fertilizer when feeding your avocado & other plants/ trees. I hope this helps!? Charles 🌱👍
@daddydustinmiller51504 жыл бұрын
Yes ashes. 😝 ok will use avocado fert. Don’t wanna take any chances altering the pH. Thanks 🙏🏻. Love your videos and products!!

You always make me nervous with that razor blade. My buddy who is a master gardener talked to me about grafting and tree damage in nature. He said that there is no reason to paint the open wounds on a tree because it will heal itself. They do that in nature. However, after you showed the insect in the dead wood feeding downward into the main part of the tree, I'll paint my prunings.
