Great video Ivy! Love the before and after and how-to transform a trotty gaited horse into a smooth four-beat gait using natural training methods!

Should I share this on your facebook page? I forgot to do it when I first finished it.

A very nice mare with no inclination to pace. I would've called what she was doing at the beginning still within fox trot. If you watch them show, they are very bumpy, not that I'm recommending that. But you were helping a very nice mare smooth out of her fox trot by moving more towards an even rhythm, which gives a smoother ride. I need to do this with one of my mares, who is also pretty trotty, but not much inclination towards pace unless she gets excited. Maybe the lady didn't care what gait, in that case she would probably prefer saddle rack. It's just I see plenty of MFT's who can rack and don't fox trot as nicely as this one does.

So as soon as you feel slightly bumpy/pacey, you do what exactly?

I've been using this same method for a year and a half on my Icelandic, but he's still not tolting. Any suggestions? Or is he just not bred to gait? I ride 4-5 times a week and always pull him back when he tries to trot, just keep pushing him forward at the walk. Saddle fits well and I'm riding him in a plain snaffle.

You must get the back feet longer and trim the heel to get the trot out
