Mario, glad that you did the video on basecoat with the Iwata ws400. I've been wondering about this very same thing. I've just started painting again from 40 years ago as a hobby. I have the Iwata series 1 and I know someone that used it with base and said that it tiger striped on metallic's..... I think that I can adjust it out but we shall see... My first job will be F-350 for a friend. Truck is also a metallic black. I'm 70 and I'll bet it will kick my butt. Thanks Mario for the video...

Hi Mario, beautiful finish from the WS400 Series 2 it laid the clear on perfectly👌I haven't tried my WS for basecoat but I have heard from other people that it puts it on very smoothly, maybe I'll try it one of these days but I don't like putting base through any of my clear guns, thanks as always for sharing your expertise with us Mario👏🙏👍John UK

Mario, your job - Brilliant! Can you tell me, what is better 1.3 or 1.4. I look at the buying ls and ws. And look at the 1.4 for both, can you give me an advice which is better? For clear ws 400. But, what do you think for base, ls or dv1?????? Please, give me your advises )

@@emildehermenzhi7073 thank you! It depends on your clear if you have some thick clear the 1.4 is better. But in general you can’t really go wrong with the 1.3. I recommend the DV1 base gun all day everyday 👍

The only thing they really changed was the machining for the cap threading on the gun body, on the og supernova if you align the split tops with the air cap it sprays exactly the same

Ive got gti pro lite atm, and I am looking for a second gun dedicated only to clear coat, which one would you choose? 5500 cc, dv1, or ws400 s2? or any other?

If you're in the USA the X5500 CC isn't a good gun, it's made to atomize the thinner European clear coats, not the western clear coats

You can’t go wrong with the WS 400 new or old. Can’t go wrong with the DV1 either. Never been a fan of the 5500.

​@@mariopaintclass6091 Thank you. I got a test gun few days ago the old series ws400 and its amazing gun once you close the fan a little. Hearing two opinions about sata 5500cc that say its nothing special does help a lot.

No offense but i get the same paint work out of the super nova and just to top it off i just bought a porphis for 250$ and it blows the Nova away this is just my opinion but the new Iwata is a marketing thing it's a new model with a new bumper nothing has changed.

I have the series 1 supernova i use 1.5 for base 1.4 for my clear

@@enforced_viper6066 That's all you need there's this thing that you need multiple guns i been doing this for 35 years never other than primer have i had to use 500 guns...
