I've been using my Pebble for a month and have to admit that I don't love it as much as I hoped I would. I usually wear a nice 'regular' watch and, in comparison, the Pebble looks and feels like a children's toy. However, I've put a wrap on it to tone down it's garish colour scheme, swapped the rubber strap for a leather one and I can't deny that it has been really useful to get notifications without touching my phone (as a result, my phone battery is lasting much longer). Admittedly, this suggests that the new Pebble Steel would probably be a better fit for me but the surprise has been that I now crave more functionality so am already keen to upgrade. As I use a Galaxy S4, the Gear 2 looks exciting. Prior to the pebble, I thought the idea of answering the phone via my watch was ridiculous but, having been able to see who is calling on the Pebble, there have been many occasions where my phone has been in the other room and it would have been handy to quickly answer the call, even if just to acknowledge and say you'll call back directly from the phone as soon as I can find it! No interest in the camera but a prettier Gear with added functionality that is actually useful, as opposed to simply for the purposes of showboating, would be brilliant. The smartwatch is definitely here to stay and will improve in leaps and bounds over coming years. Google Glass looks cool but if you don't need to wear glasses, are you really going to start? Your wrist is a far more accessible (+ cheaper and more robust) way to access data, hands free.

I think its smart that they put the camera on the strap because if you look at the screen at the right angle and the camera was on the watch,it would be facing upwards

I own and wearing it right now the Gear 2 Neon. For the 1st week I was skeptical and I thought it was a waste of money. After the 1st week I realized how much I use it. After a month, I cant live without one. I am not allowed to use my phone at work or on the road and the watch allows me to know who is calling, who is texting me, and tells me exactly what email I just received. This and more. So yes, I love them and can't wait till they make them more powerful.

I have the Gear 2, it's pretty awesome, probably a bit expensive for what it is, but I love it, it blows everyone's mind when they find out it has a camera and a tv remote in it :P Hopefully more useful watch specific apps come out soon to make it feel a bit more worth the purchase cost, but otherwise I'm really happy with it, would recommend :)

I don't think the watch itself should have a camera, but being able to control the camera on the phone it's linked to can be a powerful tool. My biggest question is that since it links via blutooth, can I leave my phone in my car where I get reception at work but be able to go into my work building where I don't get reception and have them still linked where I would get my notifications that way?

Ok... i'm pretty sure these guys don't know what consumers want. I'm pretty sure that people WANT to have a stand alone watch that does everything a smartphone does and MORE. I'm still not sure how practical the smart watches can be as I haven't experienced one of them yet. All I know now is I want an intuitive interface and a long battery life. The thing I personally concern is they rely on the voice command a bit too much. It's ok if you are amongst friends, but when you are at work or alone in the public it just make you look like and idiot talking to your watch. Any opinions on this?

Too chunky? The gear is not chunky. A forward facing camera IS A MUST so is the one on the wrist. 2 cameras are a must. Waterproofing is a must. The gear failed as a huge seller bcuz of the high price tag. $299 is way to much for a companion device. $199 is the price point. Why the fuck would anyone buy a Gear when you can buy the Note3 for the same price. That's why it failed. Price is the key factor you have to get the product out there bcuz it is not a high demand product. I don't even wear a watch anymore. You have to make it look cool. You have to have unique functions. YOU HAVE TO SELL IT AT A PRICE PPL WILL BUY IT AT. $99 for companion $199 for stand alone otherwise it's a FAIL.
