If I learned anything from this it's taht Loco should not have been a coach. I get he was young, but his entire approach was to condescendingly argue with the players on any little thing. Almost all his scenes could be described as him asking what the players wanted and then responding to their requests with "well that is a bad idea", or "I haven't done anything wrong and you're dumb for thinking I did". Dardoch was literally a 17 year old kid who clearly tried to start off being respectful and hard working to eventually blowing up because he was being blatantly disrespected by everyone, and he wasn't having it. This doesn't excuse his behavior during then or in the years after on different teams, but come on. People were literally expecting a 17 year old kid who dropped out of high school to act like grown adult while they actively treated him like a child every step of the way. Like the mismanagement on this situation seems wild. I can only speculate so my opinion doesn't mean much, but unless there is more context, this could've been handled a lot better.

And the things the coaching stuff and steve say are true, but in reality arent helpful at all cause what they are doing by saying that instead of "yeah you are right. But what do you expect when all you are answering him is "you are just angry" of course he will be frustrated because no one listens to him. The worst about this is that both can be caused by other players and you dont know or dont feel like it. If your jgl plays good making it ez for you to land your cc or buff him popping off or when your adc doesnt listen to calls or doesnt look at the map and has pings muted. Supp is in my opinion the hardest role not gameplay dependent but working with the mentals in solo duo.

Hey Dom, I'm a new viewer and new to League. However, I coach soccer on a volunteer basis and enjoy watching pro-League. I personally love making a group of people greater than the sum of their parts. One of those incredibly important elements is team morale to make the team more than the sum of their parts. I've noticed in this video that morale in esports teams is critical. Another example I can think of is how G2 seemed to have so much fun in playoffs this split compared to other teams or even earlier in the season. My question then is this, how important in your career and as an analyst is team morale in esports? Is it more than regular sports? How do you foster good morale in an esports team? (This may be a stupid question but I'm somewhat curious)

If you're interested in more discussion about the coaching and management decisions, Montechristo and Thorin go into that in their watch party of Breaking Point. They talk about some issues you don't face in regular sports: the players (and staff as well) are all very young and often behind in their development of social skill as they just played a lot of video games, there are not really 'veteran' players (Piglet is the oldest at 22 and he is literally whining rolling around in his bed). And it is also more difficult to punish bad behaviour. If a player on a soccer team talks to the coach like Dardoch does, saying 'he only talks bullshit', you could just make him run laps around the field (or the whole team if you really want the behaviour to stop). The whole point of doing a bootcamp in Korea in the preseason is actually precisely to build team cohesions and social bonds, it's useless to practice 18 hours a day since LCS is on a different patch anyway. You can't have a space where everyone criticizes each other (quite harshly as well) if you don't build proper trust beforehand.
@baraenbojassen66112 жыл бұрын
Mistakes during the game are not clear in many esports which is why often times you'll find two players arguing about a simple play because they have different predictions of what the best scenario in the situation would have been. I don't think morale is necessarily more important in esports but it breaks down more easily because of what I previously stated. These are socially inept teenagers who are at the top of what they do so the pressure and ego involved is not the same as a regular youth team or a professional team of adults.

After watching this I gotta be honest, Dardoch came out of this looking pretty f'n good compared to loco and piglet. Holy what a disaster on their part.
@Ryan-qv9se2 жыл бұрын
he didn't express himself diplomaticly at, but you can expact that from a teenage superstar. loco and the rest of the staff were so limpdick on the way they approached everything. dardoch was inflammatory but at least he was getting real unlike everyone else

Yo dom it would be nice to invite dardoch to the crackdown and discuss about the past as topic discussion.

This had the makeup of some really explosive drama and seems like dom took a fact risk against his twitch channel and future orgs working with him. It wasnt too spicy but it had potential

30:40 Exactly a Duo botlane should really have a close connection. If Piglet hates him and thinks hes trash its already GG. Its basically just give criticism without being a cunt and that shouldnt be hard....

I would honestly love to have seen Dom stay with the team. I also would have liked to see this team not coached by Loco personally. I feel like a different style of coach is just needed for the players and their personalities
@haoxinchao74792 жыл бұрын
0 chance piglet would let dom coach him, would be like mixing oil with fire.
