At the end, I like the idea of giving your guest a chance to talk about whatever they want, but I also feel like that might be putting them on the spot too quickly. Maybe one thing that can happen is that Dom informs the guest like, "if you have anything you want to clear up or talk about, keep a mental note or write it down on your computer and if we don't get around to it you can bring it up at the end of the show" or something at the beginning of the episode, or even in the middle or something. That way, the guest might have more time to think of something because I mostly see the guests say "nah, I don't have anything" whenever Dom says his ending spiel.

It got annoying in the beginning he always didn't remember or he doesn't know what his opinion is to much PR.

"It's not really fair to say that just because people think your region is bad, it's okay to be bad." I don't understand how anyone can honestly argue otherwise. But there's a lot of people in the community that are ultimately just shills and want to paper over anything negative that's said about LCS and Riot.
@tetroid4876
@tetroid4876 3 жыл бұрын
Of course no one would argue that. But, if everyone thinks your bad, and you lose a game, it tanks your confidence a LOT harder, and this makes it difficult to show your actual potential. You fulfill the prophecy of being bad with any loss. Even if you’re doing well, it only takes one loss to take it all away. Doom culture and solo Q make a tremendous difference.

Thorin : It seems to me water is wet. Absolutely nobody :....?? Thorin : Funny thing about water being wet is.... Wetness is the ability of a liquid to adhere to the surface of a solid, so when we say that something is wet, we mean that the liquid is sticking to the surface of a material. Whether an object is wet or dry depends on a balance between cohesive and adhesive forces. Cohesive forces are attractive forces within the liquid that cause the molecules in the liquid to prefer to stick together. Cohesive forces are also responsible for surface tension. If the cohesive forces are very strong, then the liquid molecules really like to stay close together and they won't spread out on the surface of an object very much. On the contrary, adhesive forces are the attractive forces between the liquid and the surface of the material. If the adhesive forces are strong, then the liquid will try and spread out onto the surface as much as possible. So how wet a surface is depends on the balance between these two forces. If the adhesive forces (liquid-solid) are bigger than the cohesive forces (liquid-liquid), we say the material becomes wet, and the liquid tends to spread out to maximize contact with the surface. On the other hand, if the adhesive forces (liquid-solid) are smaller than the cohesive forces (liquid-liquid), we say the material is dry, and the liquid tends to bead-up into a spherical drop and tries to minimize the contact with the surface. HOLY FUCK SHUT THE FUCK UP THORIN. Man I cant fuckin stand it listening to thorin hurts my fuckin brain and ears.

I remember there being a very similar culture when I did debate in highschool (and coached during for a year or two after). For whatever reason American's seem hell bent on winning period. This leads to individuals putting wining period, over winning against a good opponent that would make them better. So like usually it's standard practice to post cases on public wiki's and disclose what you are going to be arguing to your opponent before the round. This way the debate can be well thought out and planned answers instead of hot takes trying to respond to the arg as its being read. There was always a huge pushback to this by debaters who would intentionally run args that didn't have much literature on them, so they could do shady things. Ex: resolution is "U.S. ought to ban handguns" and the affirmative gets up and reads a case about how the US should ban some hyper specific type of handgun (usually with an extremely arbitrary self serving definition of handguns attached). This way they in essence don't really have to debate, they just have to defend hyper specialized version of the resolution that clearly wasn't the intention of the topic. This gets even worse when you have someone's mom as a judge who believes that vaccines cause autism or some shit. (and for those who see problems with this kind of debating, calling out this style or argumentation as bad, is in of itself an argument often used in debate as a counter) In general though, Americans tend to care more about a win in of itself than a good win. To me personally its not really fun just rolling over people, I'd much rather lose to someone that's genuinely better than me, or rise to the occasion. Otherwise its a race to the bottom where we are all playing "who can lose the least"
@matthewwiles2996
@matthewwiles2996 3 жыл бұрын
Lol you possibly debated at the same time I did. That resolution of handguns was used my last year, people totally did that. Thats really funny
@xWhponderx
@xWhponderx 3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewwiles2996 dude that was my last year debating too. And granted, I was one of those people to an extent. My aff was an individualism K meant to turn the round into a discussion about what handguns represent, i.e are they actually an inherently good thing that should be protected? What do they actually represent, and intensify in our culture? That's cool as hell, I debated in Louisiana locals, and as many of the TOC qualling Texas tournaments as I could. I will say Texas debaters were 10x more fun to debate than Louisiana kids. Texas debate is like the EUW of highschool debate. People are either going to be super nice, or outright dicks with no in between. And also the skill is way better
@matthewwiles2996
@matthewwiles2996 3 жыл бұрын
@@xWhponderx i hated running neg on it because the trend became to try to sidelong the conversation on handgun purpose and definitional points that bogged down the conversation, so in a way I was totally against that kind of debate. I ran deontology on my neg and argued that the purpose of handguns were to cause harm and as such that made them fundamentally evil, as well at the fact that they treat people as a means rather than as an end in themselves, and only truly ran into trouble when people would drive the debate into purpose and definitions. It was crazy how obscure people were defining handguns.
@xWhponderx
@xWhponderx 3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewwiles2996 Yeah definitions debates in a competitive debate are inherently just going to be self serving shit shows. I also think you hit on something kind of problematic about the activity in general. Like you can make the neg work by running some skimpy DA's, numerous CP's or whatever but it rarely felt like args in the literature flowed neg. Like most literature at the time (and granted this may have changed) showed that handgun bans resorted in a brief spike in crime, and reduced levels (marginally like 1-2%) long term. So the debate became more about the US's role in enforcing a handgun ban, or how police would use a handgun ban to racially profile, or other stuff that is relevant to the discussion, but not really centered around whether or not a handgun ban is in of itself is good or bad. Ex: structural racism is going to be embedded into the US regardless of if we do or do not ban handguns; so arguments that say, "well x doesn't work because the US is inherently racist" really aren't saying anything productive to the discussion of whether or not handguns should be banned specifically. So unless the argument is "we need to do x thing instead with gun legislation to prevent the impacts of systematic racism" the debate is just two passing ships. And 9/10 it was passing ships
@matthewwiles2996
@matthewwiles2996 3 жыл бұрын
@@xWhponderx Yeah it was impossible to argue for "handgun" bans in particular because bans on handguns are significantly less effective than total bans for guns. This made that particular phrasing tough and I almost got knocked out in state qualifiers because someone ran rifle push, arguing that banning handguns was fine because carrying a rifle doesn't prelude to the secrecy of the handgun. Worst yet he took basically the entire case from a university debate team and his entire team was running the same case (Which was a common practice in my district). The neg was then forced to maintain the predicate that handguns were the problem, when much of what the negation wanted to run that all guns were bad. I was running pragmatism in one of my early docs to try to circumvent the restrictive nature of the terminology. It has been incredibly interesting talking to you

I don't get why Riot doesn't add dedicated servers in California since all the LCS Pro Players are there. They have the money to do it so why not do it. It'll make NA a bit more competitive as well.
