This is a problem many may have and your solution is the best way. I intend to hook up battery tender as I've read the security system draws a lot of juice. My security system alarm went off and all flashers going. Disconnect battery to stop that. (Keep a 13mm wrench in tool kit!) Take batteries to parts store and replace a dead battery, if need to. That cures that. Owners should know that key will manually open doors and trunk, if no power.

For most people this solution won’t work. I have had 2 continentals and normally the start battery doesn’t go flat, it’s the auxiliary battery that will drain in 1-2 weeks. The auxiliary battery runs the ignition switch to tell the start battery to start the car This maneuver tells the auxiliary battery to start the car, which is already likely dead I have tried this every time my battery was flat on both continentals and it has never worked. There are 2 places under the hood you can run a jump box to that will give enough power to pop the trunk, from there most of the time you can use jumper cables to jump the auxiliary battery from the start battery and it will start once the aux battery has enough juice to tell the car to start

Hi I have a GTC. I plugged BMW M3 to jump start the car via the front connection under the bonnet but it didn’t work. But I was able to open the boot/trunk. I’m not sure which battery connects to the front. It is the one for the electrics or to start the engine? Can I plug a jumper pack to one of the batteries at the back to start the engine?
