IXION Chapter 3 Part 4. I investigate the Reactor Wreckage, and ultimately move through the storm in this episode. In between there is ample researches and research upgrades going on. Highlights are unlocking Trains, finally, and also the Large Batteries. Things are definitely getting tenser and tenser...
IXION is finally here, and I am more than a little bit in love with this game. Describing the game genre is a bit difficult, since it combines so much from so many games - but one quick summary would be that this is a Sci-Fi Space game similar to Frostpunk, but with a lot of aspects leaning on logistics, grid city builder games, factory and production games, and so much more. The storyline is simply awe-inspiring, and the soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a game.
I hope you will enjoy the series as we explore the story of the Tiqqun, as I try to guide it through space with presumably the last remnants of humanity, in the hopes of finding a colonisable exo-planet that we can colonise.

About the Game

IXION combines city building, survival elements and exploration, into a thrilling space opera as you explore the stars. Propelled onwards through a perilous journey, you are the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station, charged with finding a new home for humanity.

Still watching, so maybe early comment: Devs released a new patch yesteday. The stability debuff from stored cryonic pods has been updated - you will now get -1 in a Sector that is storing more cryonic pods than the total active population of the Sector, rather than the previous station-wide debuff of -1 per group of 250 stored cryonic pods. So, a sector focusing on population, with a Cryo Center, and you can store a lot fo cryopods. :) Edit: Thanks for showing the trains! :D

The Tech you wanted was the Self-Cleaning Lubricant in the Waste Treatment Center. Saving 5 Power per Center is kinda huge. Really good series. Helped me solve quite a few situations that otherwise would have needed several reloads.

I finally get it in Ep23 I think! And yes, that is a *really* good Tech! It's difficult to keep track of things when I record. Have to focus on too many things all at once, including telling you guys - the viewers - what I'm doing and why. And I've been working a .. lot .. these past two weeks on Ixion-related stuff.

When I drove across the system through the storm, I just turned off the EVA hull repair to prevent injuries/deaths from the storm. I did have a large hull deteration rate. but due to the upgraded drive to max, made it across in minimum time. I think I was under 50% hull when I arrived, but turning on all the EVA after I arrived, quickly repaired it. (Did have a storm damaged Solar Panel, but had plenty of power so waited until I got the hull repaired before I fixed it.)

That works - however, if you are struck by lightning it can actually kill crew inside the Tiqqun too, and not just EVA workers. I've had that happen (infrequently) in a few test runs I did. Just so you're aware. 😊

Hahaha. The gluon particles are actually references in an event where it's described as part of the weapon of the Piranesi, so indeed I got to watch those... But I got the pun 😄

Yup, I almost dropped the series when he left them behind, not just because it was messed up, but also because it can actually ruin a playthrough if you're not careful.

The issue is, and I don't know if they've fixed this bug yet in yesterday's patch. But, at least pre-patch yesterday.. If you reach 5000 population on the Tiqqun, the game just broke. Dialogues would be empty, and no more progress was possible. I'm worried about that bug, and I want to complete this series to the end. Even if the bug has been fixed, it might not retroactively apply to older saves either. But I will attempt a "all best choices, best ending" playthrough (skipping a lot more of building stuff and so forth than I have been doing in this particular seris) later, on a fresh save. Probably over New Years, after they release the next big patch, which I believe is coming sometime in January. Until then, please forgive me for trying to avoid a game-breaking bug while I do something that I detest doing in games: don't play as Good as I possibly can.

@@Caledorn Ah! So it was because of a bug. That's understandable then. A slight criticism however. Your playstyle actually reminds me a lot of how I choose to play these games. Careful, deliberate, and trying not to miss anything... I even loved the more focused building stuff in your earlier videos in the series. (partly why it was so jarring to see you having to leave all those people behind)... Anyway, what I want to say is, this sort of playstyle sometimes makes us forget to use the ⏩ function more often, even when we easily could, instead of just waiting on normal speed... It's fine for a private playthrough but not as good for a larger audience. It leaves a lot of dead spots in your videos where seemingly nothing is happening. I think you've still got the best playthrough on this game right now. But this was just one thing I noticed you could easily improve up on, to increase its entertainment value.

Glad you enjoyed it! The story is getting more and more creepy now. And I love it. The trains are a huge benefit. Not only do they provide quick population movement from sector to sector, but they also provide +1 stability in each sector they're built in, the provide station-wide coverage (if trains in all sectors) for the Health Center (100 patient capacity), and on top of that they even move the stability bonus from the Exofighting Dome to every single train-connected sector on the station too. Stability will not be an issue, I think. 😄

My last time through the storm, my Fusion Station lost all of its water. It was full at the beginning, with lots of ice in storage close by. But ALL of the water in the Fusion Station had disappeared and my crops could not get water. Have you seen this? How can it be avoided?

A good contender for the most useless upgrade :) If i remember rightly its a 30% reduction in the silicon chip cost when opening a new sector

Yeah, that upgrade is completely useless. As Graham said - -30% electronics for opening a wall. I can't off the top of my head think of any tech that is actually more useless than that one. And there are several techs that aren't exactly good.
