I know this is a really old video but thanks. I haven't played smash for years (melee was the last game) and even back then, I was just a goof ball messing around with friends. I really want to give an earnest shot at getting good at Smash Ultimate. I know a few things have changed between this and ultimate, but I feel like lots will still be relevant for a beginner. Truly great job!

I'd been sketching out an "intro to Smash" video for friends who are new to the game. Instead, I'm going to show them this, which is nearly identical in content, but much, much better. The presentation and organization are exceptionally well executed, and the stills at 4:42, 5:06 are just about perfect ways to illustrate the attack options. Stunningly excellent work; I can't wait for the follow-ups.

This is an amazing video, really. The quality is awesome, and you go through everything in an ordered, understandable manner - while also being sympathetic on top of it. This video really helps me a lot, more than any official guide / tutorial videos did! I now know exactly what to learn in what order to get my Lucina play going. Also kinda nice to see Lucina - the character I want to main and learn the game with - listed by you as a good beginner character. Kinda makes me feel a bit more confident! So really, thanks a lot for this. It's rare to see such great content with so much thought put into it.

Hey Izaw, thanks for making this series! It’s probably the best Smash tutorial series on the internet, and I had planned to use it as a guide whenever I’m struggling at something in Smash 4. You see, my objective is to 100% that game, getting all of the trophies, characters, records, and other collectibles. However, since my Smash 4 disk was having problems working, I decided to 100% Brawl. Although I got a new Smash 4 for Christmas, I want to finish Brawl before starting Smash 4. Right now, I’m actually quit close to that goal, at least in terms of raw numbers. I’ve unlocked every character, every music track, 491 out of 544 trophies, 611 out of 700 stickers, 99% of Subspace Emmirsary, among other miscellaneous things. However, I’m having a hard time on 100 Man Brawl, Cruel Brawl, and Very Hard/Intense Mode Boss Battle. The reason why I’m bringing this up is because I have a question for Izaw or any of the Smash fans who have their own answers; please feel free to answer, whoever you are. Does any of the information on this series apply to Brawl as well? How much of it does, and how much doesn’t? Would it help my Brawl skills at all to watch a Smash 4 tutorial? I’ve been looking for Brawl tutorials, and they’re more difficult to find than I thought they would be, and the ones I have found aren’t near as thorough as this Smash 4 tutorial. If Izaw or any of the fans down in the comments have answers to my questions or have recommendations for good Brawl series to watch, I would gladly appreciate the support. Thanks for the content you bring to KZbin, Izaw!

Awesome video! True, but this is an intro to becoming competitive in Smash in a "zero to hero" kind of way. Theoretically, there are other ways, but becoming competitive-level at a fighting game, any fighting game, is an investment of time to learn, memorize, and refine in-game mechanics.
@hieronymushumble57168 жыл бұрын
Maybe a better way to phrase it would be, "try all of these moves out, and try to figure out what each one does." Eventually you'll know what all the moves are, without having to try to memorize anything.

A lot of people seem to be confused as to why Fox is listed as a good "beginner" character. While he can be considered somewhat of an advanced character to use ONCE you are playing at a somewhat competitive level, in beginner/low level play he can totally be great for a new player trying to learn the game. He is easy to maneuver around, has a great recovery in terms of distance(but pretty gimpable agaisnt someone competent, wich will make you learn how to play around gimping strats), pretty strong killpower/smashes wich is gonna be great for people to learn how to kill efficiently, pretty dang fast attacks, his attacks are all pretty basic/intuitive in terms of use or functionality, easy to learn auto-cancel windows, etc. He is absolutely a great character to start the game with!

A good and fun way to practice teching is to play only Pit on Palutena Temple or Hyrule Temple, with 300% by default. You can tech on most surface and even the arrow will make the opponent fly enought so he have to tech, which happen to be a fun game with other people (arrow only + tech allowed)
