There is no deesser on the market sounding as good as manually editing the sibilants and consonants so that you can attenuate them separately. Among several benefits, lowering sibilants a lot enables you to crush into compressors and saturators in a way that cannot be done without the sibilants ripping your head of as a result. You can lift the top end with EQ for air without abrasive sibilants. This is why it's worth taking the extra time for tedious boring work. Therefore, if someone comes out with a deesser on par with the manual approach, it is pretty much a first. Being an idiot got nothing to do with it...

Yes, when it comes to de-essing, most professional studios and editors still rely on manual editing (or a hybrid workflow). It's not because de-essers are bad, but because you just can't have the same control using them. That being said, I love ApulSoft and the price is reasonable. However, I think the developer should have given a better and more detailed explanation of what's going on there compared to a regular de-esser.
@Arcessitor2 ай бұрын
Seemed pretty obvious to me. Are they gonna have to hold your hand and explain what a regular De-Esser does to see the obvious difference?
@croay2 ай бұрын
@@Arcessitor I mean, I wouldn't mind holding hands with the dev, he's actually kinda cute... but I guess that my point is given how Weaver and other users (you can check the trailer's comment section) aren't really sure what the differences are (Pro-DS does almost exactly the same thing), it would be smart for the dev to actually elaborate on it.

To all the real ones who don’t spend funds on the plug ins you can achieve dynamic saturation with the free with the spectral compressor. It works more like a clipper but I with a bit of research I think it can be used as a saturator.

Diosper is also another cool one by the developer of the plugin you mentioned (there is also some other funny ones like puberty simulator and loudness war winner)
@_mickmccarthy2 ай бұрын
And not sure about other DAWs, but at least in FL, Patcher allows you to create these sorts of effects (and a whole lot more) yourself with your existing plugins. They've got some utility plugins like Fruity Peak to allow to make dynamic variants of existing plugins, Stereo Shaper to allow you to do mid-side variants, and Frequency Splitter to do multi-band variants. All while working with your existing plugins that you're familiar with. You can do a whole lot more I'm sure, but those are the ones I use most often. I think Max for Live in Ableton is similar, but I'm not at all familiar with it so can't really speak from experience there. But it definitely seems like there's been a huge surge in the plugin industry lately and now they're starting to run low on ideas.

I feel like this really goes to prove your theory about everything useful already having been made and marketed. Going into the sibilance to adjust it manually? Going into the transient stages and messing between them? This is more computer nerdery than it is music making. Now I love a bit of computer nerdery. But it’s the music making side of me that I think is worthwhile.

ADAA is kinda like oversampling. It helps reduce a lot of the aliasing artefacts you could get from not using oversampling. But you don't actually need to oversample, so you don't get filtering artefacts from that process. So it's kinda like oversampling, but the process is less heavy on the CPU since you don't need to process more data, and doesn't have some of the filter artefacts and other downsides of oversampling. It stands for anti-derivative anti-aliasing and it's getting more and more common nowadays.

Like it’s mostly new people to the scene, or the piracy scene, that would say something like that where they even give out the name of the site. Majority of people who pirate already know that site, and most already have seen a fl 2024 version on there, meaning it’s obviously working, because it’s THAT SITE.
