Yea, believe it or not, upgrading your base is a huge XP boost. As far as you first hoard night goes, the wisest course of action is going to be to use a POI and make changes and upgrades. You can probably make it through the first 3 or 4 horde nights this way. A dedicated horde base is VERY resource intensive. I used Pass n Gas #4 and it only cost me about 20 blocks to get a good Horde base. The truth is, you really don't need a Horde base. Find a POI that is mostly comprised of cement blocks (tap it with an axe and if it's 5000 life it's made of cement.), knock out all ways to get up to you, climb to the top of it.. wait it out. Easy peasy. Personally I have started to doubt the contribution that a Horde night brings to the game. It's really only good for XP. It costs a LOT of resources, only good for XP, (which is VERY easy to get) and doesn't provide anything other than the.. "I survived a Horde night". I may just turn off Horde nights and see if I miss them at all.

You are mostly likely aware of what I am going to say, but new players may not be. On the subject of clay: This is not a method I target for cobblestone. This is my habit early on for clay needed in my forge. Potted plants, I make room for them in my inventory, and smelting the potted plants down in the forge can add up nicely in the forge. I don't scrap them, I just feed them whole into the forge, much like I would radiators for brass. Any clay you don't have to dig or use a tool to get, is something I find of value and time saving. You can start your collection of potted plants well before you even build the forge.

I've never had a problem with resource gathering in any build, cruz i always go for The buried supplies first, that way i get foos AND resources.

I believe the reason the first quest is buried supplies is so new players know the ground is made of clay cuz after updating to pc I didn’t understand that

I just got into the game but I did figure out that I really wanted a nice Horde base, I farmed around 500 blocks on day 5 since I didn't bother saving the axe books. And I built a pretty nice base following a guide from WaywardEko, I love watching your videos and getting a good idea what my next goals should be though! Ur really consistent in giving information in a chronological order, it makes it really easy to follow along. Much love from the Netherlands

If you make cobblestone you can update any building in the world and get xp for it except traders of course in vanilla.
@Rdlprmpf123 ай бұрын
You can save a lot of material by upgrading an existing building to a horde base. The outer wall of the crypt from that last mission is amazing for an early base. Just build a little ramp on the inner and outer side of the wall to let the zombies up and then a little "base" up there - a few scaffolding bars are enough. A ladder for yourself and that's it for at least 2 weeks. Costs

Found a base design i like though i believe its around 150 blocks for the basics and easily over 200+ making sure the horde cant knock it down. But i do know it works perfectly. Atleast on a lower difficulty, insane may actually show any faults it has (apart from cost). I do think i could alter the design to make it cheaper but i may try that later. Currently at day 4 and on nights where i wasnt already in a poi or just hiding for my life id focus on improving horde base. While i do enjoy trying to reach and survive first horde night as a challenge (that i likely shouldnt have set for myself as a new player). I dont think will be doing it often or with faster zeds after i have done it once. Lost quite a few good starts to either ferals or not knowing a poi had dogs. And im now starting to wish there was some kind of icon or something indicating when lucky looter has proc'ed. As i feel the times i started out with it i have found better stuff overall but have no real way of knowing if it has helped or if i was just that lucky. I mean i do doubt i have had it proc 3 or 4 times in a single poi when its at level 1 but yeah.

@@sakuraokami25 I played the Wild West Mod a lot a while back, and it has quests where you have to go to a place, build a horde base out of supplies given (you can use more if you bring them) and then fight off a horde. I got really good at quickly throwing down a decent elevated base that isn't terribly expensive. It's not cop-proof or rage-mode-proof, but it can be made to be pretty easily.

Instead of gathering materials for building your own base, is it viable to just take over a building and barricade it for the horde night?
@IzPrebuilt3 ай бұрын
Viable? Yes. Optimal. No. If that's what you want to do though you can vertainly try. The issue is just finding a good poi that you can meaningfully fortify.

I think they will eventually get in and you can’t hide from them on horde night they will always find you. You can build an „afk base“ where they just run in a loop until horde night is over. I would just turn off horde night if I didn’t wanna mess with it.

The armor piece Izprebuilt mentioned here has a chance at getting 2 points in progress when reading a magazine. A lvl 6 nerd outfit has a 50% chance of it happening. Doing this properly can make Izprebuilt not need as many books to learn how to craft things he might need in the future.
