You can drown children in the Sims 2. It's actually quite unnerving since they don't have animations, so they will just teleport around aimlessly, leaving puddles everywhere. What's worse is that when they die, they are put in the Universal NPC family folder. Because children aren't allowed to be out late at night (the only time ghosts appear), an adult sim from the child's family is supposed to come get then. Thus, dead kids summon universal NPCs and make them do things they aren't meant to, potentially causing game corruption. Edit: you can also burn them

Even though I'm older now, I still have a hard time "dealing" with it and "managing" it. I interpret the clown as using humour to conceal your pain and to laugh, so you don't end up crying instead. This was one of the only PC games I owned as a kid, with the vacation expansion pack. I liked playing it until I got a burglar and the sound terrified me, and I got that "They will come soon" prank phone call. I became so terrified, being like, 6, that I would only play the vacation mode from then on because those events couldn't happen ... I'd just buy the cheapest house on the map, put a phone in, and immediately call a cab for the vacation world.💀Still a game I have amazing memories from.

Good to know I wasn't the only one completely terrified of these stuff LOL. In my case I didn't have the vacation expansion pack so what I would do was every night I would pretty much remove the doors leading outside so incase anyone popped up there was no chance at all for a burglar to come in.. I also remember a phone call scaring the shit out of me and I don't even remember the message itself, just the fact that super eerie music started to play so after that moment I basically removed all phones and only put them if I wanted to order food.

I remember playing the game for the first time with my sister when we were about 9 years old. We stole it from my dad's CD collection and played it when my parents were asleep. We recreated our whole family in the game and decorated the house. When buying furniture, we saw that there was a firework launcher. Of course we didn't know any better and we put it inside the house. We made one of our sims launch the firework, and then all of a sudden it started a fire in the house. The music was absolutely TERRIFYING, like something out of the Psycho suite, especially hearing it at 11pm at night. My sister started screaming and crying and I had to unplug the computer because our dad's sim caught on fire and was dying. Never played it again lol. This game was absolutely traumatic as a child and I'm glad I'm not the only one with these memories.

I used to watch my mom play this game a lot. We'd have fun talking about it, strategizing things like how to tackle aesthetically lighting large spaces (ceiling lights did not exist yet), searching for the mushroom stools in Magic Town together, and just generally sharing ideas. It was great to play it together. The weirdest and most disturbing bug that we ever ran into was when her favourite family had a child. After the baby bassinet exploded, instead of reveling one kid, there were two. My mom was surprised and quickly paused the game, figuring out the logistics of a bedroom for two kids when there had only been space for one. And then we noticed something odd... She couldn't give one of the kids tasks. The child didn't have any way to be controlled. She also was really mean, a slob, and was constantly causing problems. It was like she didn't have any personality points. What was worse, everything that she did, the child with the personality who we could give tasks to took the blame. It was like having the evil clone potion, except that she never despawned. We tried everything that we could think of to be rid of her. Restarting, moving, etc. Meanwhile she was just causing more messes and getting her sister into more and worse trouble. My mom decided that enough was enough, and walled the evil one into the bathroom. For three days the kid screamed and cried between taking baths until she eventually curled up and died. When Death came that evening, instead of taking away the body, they made a beeline for the children's bedroom and tried to take the wrong girl. She woke up screaming, and Death became alarmed and ran away. They never came back, and we were stuck with the body. My mom, in a last ditch effort to fix things, moved the family out again, hoping that everything would be okay, but she was really upset when not only did the living family members move into the new house, they took the body with them. She deleted the family and put down the game for a couple of months. The whole situation was, understandably, really disturbing for her.

This is a weird as hell comparison but this reminds of an old short kids horror movie I used to watch as a child. Basically a girl got a doll that was designed to look just like her (missing her birthmark on her neck but that's not important here). Basically the doll was secretely alive and had an evil soul or something (lmao) and would come to life to cause trouble and the girls family would always blame it on her. At some point she started turning into a doll through evil doll magic?? But Basically she was trying the whole movie to destroy the doll and even at the end when it was thrown out nd found by another group of girlsI think it was still alive kandoand

So, when I was young I was VERY bad at keeping my Sims in good moods in the Sims 1; big surprise, right? It's still difficult when I go back to it as an adult - the game is so punishing sometimes. Anyways, we had just gotten the Magic expansion, and I was SO excited to make my Sim into a wizard that I sent them down the magical looney tunes hole. No one in our family had any idea what we were doing, and it didn't take long until his moodlets dropped massively (if they were even any good to begin with), and I desperately tried to keep him in the magic world and make him a wizard. My sister and mother knew more about the game, but there wasn't a way to fix his mood.. And then he kept getting this Action prompt (the ones that appear to show what the Sim is doing/going to do) of "Leave World" or something similar, with an image of a park bench. That felt ominous as heck to me as a kid, and even MORE so now, though it probably just meant "return to home lot". Remember no matter how many times I cancelled it, it kept popping up. I don't remember what happened, what I did or anything after that point. Honestly sounds like a terrible CreepyPasta, reading through that ahaha.. apparently it was an action related to leaving Lots, but wouldn't normally be shown to the player? Either way, eerie as heck

"Since babies were considered items, it was technically possible for burglars to steal them." Well... That took a dark turn.

I have played Sims 1 for like 5 years but only experienced the upside down glitch once. I was super confused and freaked out for sure, I thought my sim was cursed 😂

I remember playing late one night when I was barely a teenager and to this day nothing has ever scared me quite as much as hearing the ghost jingle for the first time.

I'm loving this little series exploring The Sims games, I really hope you get into some of the spinoffs like The Urbz. That game was a y2k masterpiece.

Great video! We were horrified when one of our first Sims kept increasingly coughing. We were fortunate we were able to do the sufficient "rest" / high enough motives route that he very slowly got better. We learned the source later on & the painting cure when we found one of those guide books. Still can't believe our character and the hamster managed to survive (and why yes there were much rosebuds ever after!!)!

I remember me and my sister made an orphanage in the sims 1 the kids all lived in one room and weren't allowed out unless they had to go to school the two ladies who ran the orphanage bulled the hell out of those kids 💀

Nothing says "The Sims" like locking innocent people in the basement and forcing them to work for money lmao 🤣 I usually attempt to raise as many children as possible really efficiently and I was DISTRAUGHT when they started being taken away by social services in TS4

Once me and my friend who had just learned about sims ghosts, killed our sims so we could see them. It did not work.

I had 'Big Brother' where after an arbitrary amount of time, the Sim I liked the least would be eliminated

Ordering a pizza and getting The Sims 2, Battlefield 2, or Need For Speed Most Wanted with it? What a time to be alive! I remember those games being out, but I was too young to remember that glorious bundle lol
