Hey everyone!
I went for my visa appointment in the US embassy this week and I found it a little stressful trying to work out what I needed to print out, which forms I needed to fill in (and how to actually find the embassy)! Hopefully you'll find these tips helpful.

Hi, Nice Video! I’ve been searching here about “How much net pay does a J-1 holder/Intern is earning inc. tax deductions” but have not found any. Please make a vlog about it. I bet it can earn lot of views here. Lot of J1-Visa aspiring applicants has no idea what they will encounter in the US during there stay, specifically at their paycheques.

So I passed the visa appointment and I got sent my passport with the same J1 visa back to me! Where is the actual visa is that J1 sheet? Or does the actual visa looks different?? And do I need to take that J1 a4 with me to USA?

So when it was time to go to the embassy I was so glad I found your video that told me more about what to expect. :) (I ended up waiting 4 hours in the waiting room inside the embassy... insaaaaaaaanity yep yep so glad it's all done now lol ) So anyways all that to say thank you Aimee :)

Or did you gothrough with some US institution who offers to help and find a traineeship program for you and in return they charge you a good amount of money to sum up the whole process. like i have come across with this ifers.org website who offeres to find a traineeship for you. Please suggest what did you do in your case. thank you Aimee. Good luck with your US life.

I don't think there's a deadline as such, but I would get it done sooner rather than later because if they have a lot of applications to deal with then it can take a good few weeks for them to send the visa out to you. Thank you Aimee for kindly replying on my comment. I'm getting DS form tomorrow and my agency said that there is a document checklist as well. Actually I read the US embassy website and they have clearly mentioned that it will take some longer time than I'm applying from my country. Even though they have mentioned that, my agency says that I can apply for urgent visa appointment because my internship stating date is on 01st 03 2016. did you provide any police report during your appointment? and how long took it for you to receive visa?
@AimeeRebecca
@AimeeRebecca 9 жыл бұрын

hi Aimee , helpful vid. i notice u said "IF" u r using an agency for employment. so how do u go about doing it without an agency, is that how u did it? because i wanna find d cheapest to do it and obiously agencies charge for everything they do for u.
@AimeeRebecca
@AimeeRebecca 9 жыл бұрын
+Dnx Zitro I went with an agency and you're right, they charge you for everything! The benefit is that they'll get all your paperwork sent out directly to you and act as your visa sponsor so it makes life a little easier. But if you want to go it alone then you'll have to find a job out in the US first and have your employer act as your sponsor. I'm not sure how you'd acquire the paperwork if you're not going through an agency, but I have no doubt there's information online about that. Hope that helps!

I'm glad you found it helpful. Hi Aimee, I have a question about the DS-2019 form. I want to apply for an internship in media, but I cannot apply before I am ‘elegible’ to work in the USA. The problem is that I have no idea how I need to apply for the agencies. Do you already need to have a signed contract from a company before you can apply with an agency? It is very hard to apply for companies is you are not elegible, but how can I complete the DS-2019 without an already signed contract? (I hope you can see this is a never ending circle) or how does these agencies work? Please help me, I am so frustrated 😂
