Jhope had a delivery because it was time. He looks at the box, and you see the Jack come out, because he is now in the box. He is looking in the rooms he's locked away for so long and revisiting himself again. As we go through the rooms, we get to the deepest part of the human body - the bones. In the x ray there he says his deepest desires, of wanting to be greedy, of wanting it to be okay to be greedy for more. In the end you see real jhope looking down, cocking his head to the side as he ponders about letting this all out. He closes it softly, and his nails are black and the unleashing has already begun. Jack is out of the Box, and all the innards are the album coming in two weeks. I am stoked for this, Jhope can not be defined by the industry by the fans by anyone, Jung Hoseok is coming out and ready to come for our throats.

I feel like the part with the x-ray could also mean how Army is always telling BTS they want them to show "more" of themselves. So Jhope's answer is "ok, you want to see more of me? Here's me down to my bones"

This style of music fits him so well so even though NOBODY saw it coming, it somehow makes perfect sense. The running theory is that the theme of a jester is what he's using to criticize the industry that made him have to hide this side of himself. A jester is the only one allowed to criticize the king and get away with it (when he tripped the boss onto the copy machine and everybody cheered). I'm personally so grateful that he feels comfortable enough to show us this side of him. It's also important to remember that jhope isn't a fake, just another part of him that he just so happened to show first. Also so many shots of the mv are references to Fight Club whose main character is named Jack Moore. This man is a genius.

it's him for sure. even the rock and early hip hop influences feels like a reference to earlier bts records, especially skool luv affair and dark n wild which now i'm thinking he might've contributed even more to, style-wise, than we thought. he's always been dynamic, this darker side has always been there, he's human. in a way it feels like he's doing kinda the opposite of the other rappers, joon and yoongi whose earliest releases (RM and Agustd) were really dark and angsty, and more recent ones (mono and D2) are much lighter and more reflective. hobi gave us the side he was more comfortable (experienced) with sharing with us because it fit the persona he presented to us the most first and now he's ready to really do something edgy and personal because he's improved and grown soooo much in his producing ability since Hope World. sorry for rambling (i took a hit before watching this)

Holy shit....J-hope surprised everyone and revolutionized the k-pop industry, in a few words he showed how eclectic and professional he is, now more than ever, because he can show what he knows how to do without being tied to restrictions of a contract and that is why he is thirsty for music in the universal sense, and that prizes are not worth more than doing what you love and being able to breathe and shout that "The best is yet to come". Many won't understand what to be between the lines because they are melodic fans who only expect luxurious mv's and in the 'standard' k-pop, but they are not just that, they are much more than just BTS members, they are human beings with different visions and refined tastes and that's why they can't be stuck to a single rhythm, they are pop, rock, jazzz, react, r&b etc..... CONGRATULATIONS J-HOPE, what an epic and powerful song, the dark exists in all of us, and is the best version of ourselves. A true fan respects their idol's choices and supports him unconditionally, they don't just have to do what we like, but also what they like. CONGRATULATIONS J-HOPE, SHOUT OUT, BREATHE, BECAUSE THE SKY IS THE LIMIT. I LOVED THE REVOLUTIONARY SURPRISE IN EVERY WAY., let the other members come. THANK YOU FOR THIS PIECE OF ART THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. 💗👏👏👏👏👏👏😍

Jack is associated with a desire that Hobi can open and close. There is also the desire to do more things outside the idol world, but Hobi is showing a jack that can open and close without being dominated by instinctive desires like Fight Club. Hobi has a healthy ego.

I LOVED this song, and loved your reaction! I think Hobi's finally trusting us enough to let Shadow Hobi out of the box. We've seen hints of this aspect of him (hello, TEAR), but this is just so RAW, I loved it. The more I listen, the more I get little snippets and reflections from his other work. The "inhale, inhale, exhale, exhale" part sounds exactly like "popping, ricking, hopping, tutting" from Chicken Noodle Soup, and the bit about his work being his breath reminds me of a line from Outro: Ego.

The origin of the line 'eenie meenie miney mo' is a line used as a divine sign who should live or die... 😳 The one that gets chosen as the 'mo' dies 😳 in this case Hoseok chose to k word his 'baby flow' and keep his passion but still he said it's not enough.

I was soooooo immediately obsessed with this song on first listen !!!!!!! I could NOT be more proud of hobi. I feel like he’s been SO ready for this for so long, and I love thinking about how excited he just be. Honestly I was stunned but not surprised ????? Maybe we forget but hope world had a lot of actually serious, sad, and intricate clever lyrics, as has disease recently, and his insta has been so fresh and experimental and cool idkkkkk I feel like I expected the edge, but he’s FAR exceeded my expectations. It’s SUCH a classy refined release, trendsetting, etc etc. And the Jack in the box concept is perfect, like he’s said about the album being themed/storytelling so I believe we’ll get more exploration into this ‘Jack’ kinda character and there’s so much he can represent, how a Jack in the box encompasses performance and an entertainer, but also being trapped, repetition and a mechanical system, fear, box like thinking outside the box, and the jester himself people have commented on how the jester in the court was the only person who could criticise the king and society. So hobi could REALLY get raw and dig deep here. But also possible choreography???? The puppetry kinda moves???? Oh I will NOT survive hobipalooza

I dunno, I’m surprised people were so caught off guard by this kind of music from him. I absolutely loved it and I think he did amazing, but it sort feels like “oh of course he can do that style” to me. Old school hip hop is of course bts’s roots, so :) the sort of grunge rock touch was awesome though, and I suppose I can see how that would be a bit unexpected

I got that old nostalgia from ‘Hope World’ (which he did a while back to those who aren’t aware) and so it didn’t surprise me. But fans who got into BTS after that oldschool era might not be familiar with this JHope at all
@amaliar5735
@amaliar5735 Жыл бұрын
Esther Cho yeah I suppose that’s fair that newer fans might not know, but I’ve been surprised by the amount of people who are saying this & hope world are complete opposites. while hope world’s definitely very colorful, the lyrics to a lot of it are really still more bittersweet at some points so it’s not like entirely a “happy” album. And I think he’s shown similar rapping styles in the past, though nothing quite like this.

Must admit, overall I’m surprised by not SHOCKED, just delighted !! I think this style suits him soooo much, and when you think about it Hope World wasn’t actually entirely all sunshine and rainbows - even daydream had pretty introspective and clever lyricism, blue side too and the other half of the album had a lot of cocksure swagger as well as the poppy light ones. So it shouldn’t entirely blindside us army, take disease too more recently! I just adore how he explores and innovates, this certainly feels so very fresh. I feel like he’s really been refining himself lately, even with his instagram, and I just love to think about how EXCITED he must have been to have time to explore this project of his, and then to release it. And I LOVE it, obsessed with it instantly. That BASS??? His distinctive flow?? The chorus drop??? I cannot be more excited for him to explore this Jack character more w the rest of the album, I get the impression from what he’s said it will be themed and storytelling like that, and it’s SUCH a perfect concept, there’s so much about it, like all the meanings…the surprise, the performance, the entertainer, the repetition and mechanism, thinking outside the box and expression… And can you imagine a dance inspired by Jack in the box? AHHH
@kiaegypt748

I think that with them doing solo projects, we’re going to see MANYY different sides of each of them but because J’s is such a contrast from what we already see, it was meant for him to be first. Like this is what we needed but didn’t know we needed. This Jack alter ego, persona, different side of the coin of Jhope is everythinggg. I honestly cannot wait for his album release. I think we’re going to see soo much of his deeper elements. His dark thoughts, sad situations, and just an immense amount of raw, dirty(not in the sexual sense), and edgy talent. He’s one of the most diversely talented artist I know. I’ve never seen someone who can fully embody totally different styles and not have it look cringy or underdone. Hoseok put his alll into this and it’s soo different yet soo natural. If we were going to get something like this from any of the members, it was only ever going to be him. Not to say no one else could do it, but I just think this is HIS element. I honestly don’t think anyone can touch him when it comes what he brings to the music industry as a whole. He’s extremely, extremely talented.

That's not our funny J-hope, that's not our sunshine Hobi, That's not even our PRO Jung Hoseok, we're calling this guy JACK lol I've always said that I feel like there's waaaay more to Hobi & his personality than he's led on. What's crazy is that this style of music literally ONLY fits Hobi. The mix of the Boombastic 90's hip-hop beat with grungy-rock sound is something I see him doing a "Hope on the Street" no--bones freestyle dance too. I fully understand why they all need to take time apart to do their own thing, this is a style that doesn't suit the group, but suits Hobi PERFECTLY. I'm stoked for the rest of the album! "jack in the box" is definitely gonna represent hoseok's change in music style (not a huge tangent from hopeworld if we rlly think about it, but still sth different) bc "dis-ease" was his work as well, which is probably why it sounds similar to "more". i'm so happy he took this step cause a part of me has always felt bad that hoseok's had to keep on a persona for a time longer than the rest of the members. he's an enigma and has good control of what he wants us to see regarding him. seeing his raw side through his music makes me connect better w him. i also feel like i can get an idea of the things he'd been struggling w internally. i'm so excited to see what other interesting stories he will be telling through his album! he did say there's a coherent storyline he'd thought of when arranging the tracks in the album.

I like the song with the video (which is my typical for their title songs).. It’s not anything I would have considered to go on my play list. But it’s growing on me. It’s like I have to hear it every day for some unfathomable reason. Bottom line - I really like this new side of J-Hope. From what I’ve heard, the rap is “old school”. I’m old and never listened to rap before discovering BTS, but if this is old school I’ll take it.

This is him too! But more of JUNG HOSEOK and less of jhope. His persona could be a manifestation of his real personality. I remember in one interview the members asking him a question that is something like 'do you ever feel like changing up your persona but can't because of your name' and initially he was denying it and frustrated say no no but when he had to show the yes or no symbol he showed yes and said a little cause sometimes it gets tiring. I do think jung hoseok is quite sunny too. BUT there are a lot of deep dark desires, emotions and ideas that he got that are less 'hopeful' and that he probably had to lock up. Like the box showed. He gave us a glimpse into his inner being by opening the box.

1. not anthony going on and on about the delivery dude's jacket i love it! i just know you're buying time coz you're nervous about what's to come 2. 5:11 he didn't know what's about to hit him 3. 10:01 it is him, hobi is not one dimensional which is mister sunshine, in fact hope world sounds funky & bright but the lyrically it's not really cant wait for this album to drop so people can stop associating hobi to one thing and instead embrace every side of him that makes him human.

i knew you'd like this💜💜 I was just saying before this dropped that I'd like to see the members explore more grungy or rock type sounds and 💥 BOOM 💥 Jhope has done it. I don't want to consider this an "alter ego" because then it kinda feels like another box. That he can only be this alter ego when he explores this type of sound or other not bright sounds. He's still just himself and his previous music and style isn't the only thing that defines him. He can do it all🎶🎶

Maybe you haven't seen the MV Boy Metts Evil. Jhope wrote it. then you see it's not that surprising.

As a rock/hard rock fan and also a bts one I was so pleasantly surprised!! He managed to combine amazing oldschool hiphop with this raw grunge guitar and it turned out to be a perfect match. I rly hope the whole album keeps the same vibe because ive been waiting for more rock in bts' songs for so long now :D

Now you see the Dark J-Hope not the Sunshine J-Hope. Jack in the Box. He is out of the box free to show his real self the kind a music he loves n suits him. This is sickly hot 🔥 love it.

This what happen when BTS does their solo album, they come out the box being free. All the members doing their solo album before entering mandatory military service for 2yrs Olds it's the S.Korea law all male has to go into the service. 1) Jin album* Astronaut 2) J-Hope* Jack-In The Box

Truth I am not shocked of his direction … listening non stop his first mixtape in between Daydream and aeroplane you have .. Baseline, and Huarang , and blue side last track that also has a darker side and already few elements how he used his voice on “More” , old rap beat and darker lyrics .. so yes adding the rock was the only twist and I enjoyed because I dream already to see his live with real band behind him …. I am just impatient to hear his full album ..it seems we are seeing only the pic of the iceberg ..and I am pretty sure as in Hopeworld I didn’t hear already my favourite songs of his new album …
