I truly like how he explains that she couldn't help, but to cheat because she learned it by her family. This song has many meanings to it, but what I notice the most is every parent need to be careful of how you guys raise your children. Every single thing you do, the kids will learn it and will grow with it until they understand how to use aggression, cheating, running, and etc to run away from their fears instead of fighting it ahead. The problem with us now is that our parents didn't sit down with us when we were children and taught us how not to fight each other when we have a disagreement because they were so busy figuring it out for themselves.

It's hereditary girl, you was just playing from the start, yeah Shit, but if you let me explain, shit [Verse 1] I shouldn't let you explain, you should just let me explain I see the games you be playing, it's really ice in your veins It's kinda fucking insane, argue and power exchange? I guess I'm out of my lane, I know I'm losing my brain But, I know it's hereditary baby 'cause your mama was a G And your daddy wasn't there so you be tryna play with me, yeah Shit, but, but that ain't the wave, yeah But if I'm keeping it true, I know why I be this way now We don't speak, we sit, eat food faced down We don't sleep no more, we need space now She gon' leave and go and her find her a bae now Ouch, ouch, that's pain, yo, oh so painful Trying to change, just let me die in the rainfall I can't save her if she don't want to be saved, how Please God, do something for me God She cut me deep just to see if I'ma bleed out I know this ain't what I need, but who's to say what I need What you say to your demons? What you say when your heart is walking away with your feelings? Ahhh, but didn't you know I tried, tried, tried, tried Tried to be the guy in your life? But you tied my soul, spirit, and mind Been doing this all your life [Bridge] The fuck you want me to say? And if I'm keeping it true It's probably never gon' change, no But, I guess it's hereditary baby, why you playing with my heart? It's hereditary girl, you could've said this from the start, yeah But, but ain't that a waste? A big fucking waste of time A big fucking waste of time, yeah [Verse 2] Uh, okay, I remember all the better days Used to spend a hella lot of time Guessing something had got in the way Guessing I was probably out of line Then you said, "Don't speak to me" I'd be like, "Okay, it's fine" That's just gon' prolong the fight Know that we said that if one of us upset Then we just not gon' sleep tonight, aw damn Man this shit has turned all bad Call mama, call dad, call Izzy, call Precious, call Pat Shit, it's like she spit in my face And now the world's fallin' down on me And I can't handle the weight But I'm finna get medicated, maybe it'll take the pain away A relationship will make you have a fucking revelation But, but that ain't a waste, no It's never been a waste of time, a waste of time, waste of time

This is my favorite song off the album. It felt like he was talking to me. Something I needed of my path of healing because I don't live in that space anymore. Thank you, J.I.D. for being so transparent. It's much needed & appreciate it. You're going to go far! I'm sending love & blessings your way. I hope you read this. & please come to Memphis again! ❤️

People are missing the point that the reason she was apathetic towards cheating on him in plain sight is that she went through a cycle of cheating and a damaged household. She was numb to it because she grew up with it.

This song powerful as fuck, for so many people they've been raised in sometimes even happy homes, but values haven't been shown to them and it produces young and women who don't understand true love right infront of them, it's not a looks thing or a personality thing, they just have such a warped perception on what green flags and red flags are. But you can't blame just them, their parents directly influence them, man for a long time I thought cheating was okay, I understood love but if it wasn't love I'd cheat, and that came from my parents, similarly my first (and luckily only) heartbreak that brought me to the edge of suicide was the opposite, they was loyal but to the wrong set of ideals, and couldn't see love, couldn't see what made or broke what a good man is and tried to leave good for what's better and then realised better wasn't good, by the time she came back good had gone, and maybe that girl is still the same and will always be the same but kids who've experienced this behaviour and have been brainwashed with it as a direct cause, leave pain in their path, for other people and eventually when they realise for them, by then it can be too late...

I listen to this song alot and after the second listen I realized why I tune into it often...feels like no matter what happens or what you try to do to make everything ok it's never enough. Sad some people feel negativity is ok to let take over, even when the door is being held open and instead of walking in they would rather judge and stay on the porch and keep the mud on their feet...then it's your fault when everything becomes shit.. then you try to fix that too and bam still not enough, negativity wins Everytime in the end...a few weeks isn't enough to try to keep negativity away and let it in whenever you feel it's necessary..still to this day I'm trying to keep my shit together...but it's all my fault anyway truth be told...im sure I know what I should have done in the get....yeah...I feel you jid. I've been needing this song way longer though
