As a young man, I read your book "Knowing God" when I was 21 years old. That has made all the difference in my life. Thank you. Now you would be smiling as to how little we know God. -(India).

I am an atheist, but love listening to him speak. His voice is so calming. And what he says about reading, generally, I fully agree with.

I still praise the Lord for JI Packer and his ministry especially his books. Only God knows how timely his writings have been to me. A writer that "gets me" if such a thing ever existed. He saved me alot of mental distress and perplexities with his timely wisdom. I can't wait to give him a big hug in heaven when we meet.

I’m so thankful that I got to know this dear and godly man in the late 70’s when my husband & I were students at Trinity Theological College in Bristol. He was Vice Principal with Alec Motyer was Principal, we were blessed indeed.

Thank you, Crossway for this video. I watched it today and perhaps almost a year after J. I. Packer's home-going. I thank God for raising men like Packer to inspire and encourage His Church. I agree with Packer, in that "truth is truth," and no matter how long ago a good book was written, if it is truth it is still worth reading even after decades and centuries. I have a feeling that as he re-read Pilgrim's Progress annually, I will read "Knowing God" annually as well.

Sometimes in life we have the honor of encountering people for whom the word saint can readily be applied. It would appear J.I. Packer was one of these, a model Christian life in many ways.

JI Packer, isn't this the guy who opposed RC Sproul & John MacArthur claiming that Catholicism had a saving Gospel? ECT was the document I believe.
@MaD-hp9hq4 жыл бұрын
Such error is the natural product of being an Anglican, half Catholic. Are you questioning his salvation here? He was by no means perfect in his decisions, but it is difficult to read his work and not come to the conclusion that he knew God.
@doctrinalwatchdog62684 жыл бұрын
@@MaD-hp9hq was J.I. Packer questioning the Reformation? For 400 years Protestants and Catholics understood and agreed they had a different Gospel. Packer can't have it both ways.

@@doctrinalwatchdog6268 Brother, please forgive me. The critique I had for you was me confusing you with another account on youtube that is pretty mean-spirited about a lot of genuine, reformed, lovers of Christ who preach his word. I love Packer, but your critique was actually fair, seeing that he did lock arms with Catholic men I believe in a compromising way. Deleting my comment, as it clearly wasn’t meant to go to you.
