It's surprising that CHEK would give the Conservative party of BC a platform. All other Vancouver/ Victoria news sources have studiously ignored the BC Conservative party. JJ seemed to have no idea there was anything outside of Vancouver. Good on CHEK for expanding it's horizons 👍

Of course. NDP is a disaster to BC, highest crime rate, highest drug overdose and nonsense discriminate hard drugs, free hard drugs to ppl and make drug dealers earn more profit? What is the point to support NDP. It is a time to make a right decision to vote him out.

@@nuxkamina. I think the Trudeau picture is there as a mark of respect towards the current head of government, the same way any government building would have one hanging in their hallway. At least, I _suspect_ this is the case, because I know JJ isn't the biggest fan of Trudeau.

Thank you for at least interviewing John Rustad. As someone who moved to BC within the last 5 years, it has become painfully clear to me that most of rural BC (which may not be the majority of the population, but certainly is the majority of communities) gets either ignored or mismanaged at a provincial level. The majority of the population is left leaning simply because the majority of the population lives in Vancouver, and gives little thought to rural BC, as was admitted in this discussion. Rural BC is conservative, and it is typically other conservatives who understand the needs and challenges of rural communities. There is a very similar divide and misunderstanding throughout the entire country, but I have most felt it here, living in rural BC. We are very much without a proper voice (at least in the last 5 years). It becomes painfully evident when the people in charge of regulating certain sectors clearly have no knowledge or experience in them, and yet they make decisions with little or no regards for the consequences, and speak to you as if you are the problem for pointing out the consequences that are directly affecting you. Very disheartening as it is now, and I very much look forward to having a stronger conservative voice in the legislature. At the very least, conservative constituencies need conservative representation. So I am happy to see a conservative party in BC seeking to appropriately represent rural BC.

As someone who's family has lived in rural BC for 4 generations no we are not conservative..... We vote several ways, in the late 70's early 80's we went NDP. Then we had various independent MLA's, When Alex Fraser was in the Conservatives then believed in strong government, BC highways run by Provincial government. Now they are an American off shoot wanting to sell it all off, Rail is gone and was deemed an illegal sale. Did they pay for selling it off, no. We lose 14 million a day from that stupid deal. They sold off the port in Rupert as well as sucked the funds from ICBC to balance their fake budget..... We in the Cariboo remember what shite they did. You just weren't living here yet to know what crap they did.

I have talked to several people who said they were liberal and ndp supporters and will no longer vote for these parties. Obviously people are from all political stripes are disenfranchised and dont like the direction our province and country are headed. I think the BC cons will surprise alot of people in October

BC strikes me as a little bit left wing, but with a real libertarian streak. You can have right wing candidates elected in core urban ridings in a way that you don't see in Toronto or Montreal.

I think BC is the most diverse political landscape in the entire country. 30% conservative, liberal, ndp, and 10% green. And I love that BC has such an even split across the spectrum because you get to interact with all these sorts of people on a daily basis and share different ideas on different topics. In the most left wing ridings out there, you still have a huge conservative base. For example, on Vancouver Island, despite not winning a seat in 2021, the conservatives were the second place party in 4 of the 6 ridings, including only being 2% behind the NDP in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith riding. In the Saanich riding, it was the Green party first, and conservatives second...the parties on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Ummmm, No.... I mean FUCK NO. Vancouver, Victoria and cities around Vancouver are definitely left leaning but the rest of BC is very much Conservative. Unfortunately the population of Vancouver/Victoria/Burnaby/ ect is equal to the population of almost the rest of BC

BC has a large oil and gas/mining/forestry industry and has had 'conservative' parties throughout history more than anything else. But we also have a very multicultural province and generally not as into the social conservativism of Albertans.

BC is what I would define as a very "granola" province politically. If you are on the Left or Right being seen as an organic anti-establishment, blue collar, figure is important. Whereas somewhere like Ontario being a very button-down and "experienced" feeling statesman becomes very important.

I don’t agree with JJ, who is he, I think John Rustad did very well with his interview. Who wants a grinning, charismatic premier, lying through its teeth like Trudeau! John Rustad sounds very real, honest, common sense and I identify with him and will vote for him to get rid of the carbon tax!!!

This is why so many of the BC voters in rural BC would rather just create a new province. SW BC is so disconnected with the rest of the province. They like the tax money that comes in for their bridges and highways but they don't really care what they think.

I think that many people are centrist, they can align to some left leaning ideas and right leaning ideas. This whole idea of its either left or right is what's keeping us from moving forward. BC is very sociastic. (If that's a word.) But the NDP, which is very socialist. But that is waning, many socialist parties are moving more towards the far left and that is not sitting well with many people.

❤Absolutely loved this interview as well, having seen the one with John Rustad first. I signed up for provincial politics with bc liberals and soon lost all taste for it. In submitting new names for that party, i suggested "the Western Shield party" as a name because i felt our fed pm was decimating the true beauty of Canada : it's messy, peaceful, creatively equipped people! Yes, i am conservative and care deeply that people be well-cared for. I don't begrudge entrpreneurs from becoming rich, nor do i resent politician's increasing paychecks...but I ABHOR the choices of those who porkbelly their OWN circumstances at the expense of others, ESPECIALLY those who need extra instruction to understand how to lay hold of a better and more stable life. We all have a lot of unique smarts and stupids we bring to the table. We all need to eat a wee bit of "crow" at times. The soup we all need to have portions of from this pandemichorror we have just passed through is...vomitous. Western Shield was a party name that, to me, meant we need to shield ourselves, shield others, and shield our Canada from every "Less Than" ideology that is trying to eat our lunch!! We are better than this crap! This is Easter. GOD thought we were worth dying for! For cryin' out loud, let's stop talking about a kindness that was anything but during this past pandemic, and pull together. There is more crap still coming down the pike. Canada IS special... or do we no longer dream? Nightmares? Moms and Dads hug us thru those. Courage is the call. Trudeau DID example One Good Thing: the HUG! Now, let's do it with...a pure and sincere heart.
