J started to hit on the point. When does recruiting catch up with Illinois' success? Coach B has done an amazing job finding diamonds in the rough and developing players, but when does Illinois start bringing higher-rated talent?

yah looking at our incoming class, we do have a decent amount of Top 1000 recruits. However we need to start getting *Some* Bluechip recruits.

I think NIL is the key here. All things being equal, if you’re going against your peers who are also successful and who also have a good relationship then what’s the tiebreaker? $$$

@ hopefully with this recent success, we will be bringing in more money

Iowa recruited in-state Illinois far better than Illinois did this year

You make your own luck. If the team quits, then that win doesn't happen. It would be nice if we were a little [a lot] more dominant so things are not quite so tight at the end, understatement, but it's SUPER nice we're coming out of these games on the right side. Lose in Lincoln, drop a close one at home, and lose this and we're 500 and people are grumbling about Coach B's job. It's scary to think about how important these wins are to turning around a program. Hats off to the staff and our student athletes. Absolutely amazing job out there. You can't say we aren't fun to watch.

Congratulations! Lunney/Altmyer learning 30+ points needed to win a Big10 game! Let’s hope they are prepared to strike early at Northwestern.

Q for Lunney - why are we so anemic in the 1st half? We looked so much better in the 2nd. Is it really conditioning? Or is it better play calling?

Did anyone ask BB what's going on with Terrance Brooks?

Teams in college football cannot call back-to-back timeouts in the same dead-ball period. This rule change was implemented in 2023. (6:45)

Who’s going to be that safety blanket for Luke next season?

I think Walters will be safe at Purdon't only because the AD is retiring (leaving) and no one wants him to make a new hire - nor does he, probably...

Not many programs especially Purdue, can afford to make a change and payoff Walters. He deserves another year anyway, he got left a pile of ......and on top of that this huge big 10 change.
@richardhunsaker61125 күн бұрын
He will not succeed because he refuses to acknowledge the problem among the Purdue folks. Also, unlike Brett Bielema, he is a divider not a uniter. He showed his true nature at Mizzou and Illinois. People (players and coaches) will not remain loyal to this guy.

Where are Illinois real pass rushers

I attended the Rutgers game and had seats about ten rows from the field. The size difference of the players is much more obvious in person than on TV. The Rutgers O Line was absolutely huge compared to Illini DL. Their left tackle in particular (# 72 Hollin Pierce who will probably be All Big Ten) had a physical look like a veteran NFL all pro. In my opinion, it was very difficult to get to Kaliakmanis because of that.
