J.R. Smith's NBA Finals blunder deserves a deep rewind | Warriors vs Cavaliers 2018

The Cavaliers and Warriors battled in the NBA Finals four consecutive years. LeBron James versus Steph Curry and the Warriors just became an expected matchup to end the season. But the last Finals series between these two teams wasn't quite as close as we had come to expect and it left a sour taste in the mouths of Cavs fans. It all started with a Game one slugfest, ending in one of the many mistakes made by wild card two guard, J.R. Smith.

@@rllmgr6117 to be honest I remember how dog tired lebron was and give him a lot of credit because they should have won in regulation. As unfair as it is to compare him to Jordan, the truth is Jordan would have been able to mentally pull through for his team. I like LeBron, but it's moments like that ot that really make it obvious to me that he is not on the same tier as Jordan and Bird. Because LeBron self appoints himself as the greatest, I feel it is fair to hold him to Jordan's standard.

Bro give this man a break. No one had to carry as much load as he did He's was trying his hardest to win the game by scoring a ton and playmaking simultaneously against 4-5 all stars. He budgeted his energy for 4 quarters. He didn't expect his teammate to blow the game, nobody anticipates that. You can't expect a 33 year old to drop 51/8/8 and not be tired after dropping 35 and 46 in the previous two ECF games. Every star has these type of moments. But the one who rose to the occasion the most and deserves the greatest pass is LeBron. Only he had to face 4 HOFs with a lottery team. Context matters.

When that happened I said "give the refs a break: the whole basket/ball/hands/head area isn't where the action usually is". At the same time, one of the announcers destroyed my snark with a far better "My question is, if you're not looking at that, where are you looking?" That call was so bad I actually stopped watching the game. I didn't realize until now that the LBJ's famous "WTF, ref?" moment happened in the SAME game as his even more famous "WTF, JR?" moment.

@Seroxm13 5 жыл бұрын
No, the Warriors were the MVP for killing the Cavs in 4 games. JR was for 1 game if you want it like that. But Cavs had 3 more chances and did nothing. If Cavs won game 1, I'd be like the 2001 Lakers who went to the Finals with a record of 11-0 & lost game 1 in OT vs the Sixers, then won the next 4 games to defeat the Sixers 4-1 & win the championship. Anyone can win 1 game. Cavs vs Warriors game 2, 3 and 4, showed that the Cavs couldn't handle the Warriors greatness.
