I've been listening to Springsteen, as well as Dylan and co, since I was a little kid. My parents listened to a lot of music and it's the same for me now. I play music myself, but a few strokes of fate meant that I couldn't listen to or play music for years. I removed everything from my life that could evoke emotions. It was only my 5-year-old son who brought me back to music when my father died in 2022. My mother then died in 2023 and music is all that remains of them. Not a day goes by where I don't listen to music by the hour. I never had access to this song by Springsteen. The way you play it, it should have been written! You don't know what a gift you have given me my friend. I don't know how many times I have cried to your song. Thank you from the bottom of my heart brother Dear ❤️

This is the 2nd time in recent years that I have heard a cover of a song that is even better than the original. The first one for me was the Sound of Silence by Disturbed, and now this one. I saw Jorgen's audition by pure chance on KZbin, singing this song. He has taken Dancing in the Dark to another level, and I prefer this so much more the original. A very rare achievement. Jorgen's voice is exceptional.

The reason this comes across as 'better than the original' is because the maning of the song is more congruent with the speed, tone and emotion. The song was written about the dispair/lonliness Bruce felt after success of his album 'The River'. His struggles to write a hit song just exasperated the existential pain.
