I'm not in the music business, never been to a music school... I just explore Bach on my own time as an amateur enjoyer and keyboard player. I've heard this piece before, but sometimes it takes a particular recording to make a piece really jump out at me like it's new and makes me go "WOW!" and heighten my appreciation for it. Anthony Newman's recording of 582 on a pedal harpsichord blew my socks off recently. But you know what's funny? A few times now, I've gotten really into a Bach piece, and I say "I wonder if OrzoMondo covered it...?" and lo and behold, it's right there for me to enjoy! Hell yeah. Thanks again!

I completely understand what you are saying - to me it was Martha Argerich's recording of the Toccata in Cm BWV 911. Never noticed it before. Now I am obsessed :) I am happy to know that I provide some entertainment to Bach professionals and amateurs alike :)

Gorgeous visuals and wonderful synth tones. I think you struck a lovely balance between creating something new while still preserving all that has always been beautiful about Bach's composition.

Love love love this. Can I just say, repeat 6 totally captivates me. Something about it.
@OrzoMondo4 ай бұрын
Thank you! Could it be because repeat 6 is the first one where the bass ostinato is actually not played and only hinted by the broken phrasing? I agree with you that it is mesmerizing BTW.
@rishikesh67914 ай бұрын
Yes, definitely. It almost sounds like ‘baroque swing’ because of the breaks. Another note. The 15th and 16th repeats really sound so modern. It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that this was composed in the early 1700s. I was listening to this at work today to aid concentration but I just found myself staring blankly at the ceiling instead.😂
@OrzoMondo4 ай бұрын
@@rishikesh6791 Looks like Bach is doing *very* well with Chaconnes (this Passacaglia, apart from three repetitions where the bass is slightly variated, is in effect a Chaconne) - I often find myself equally mesmerised by the Violin Chaconne

Perfect, how do you choose what is the next piece to offer to our delight?
@OrzoMondo4 ай бұрын
I do not have a method. I have a 8-stage process (1: Score correctness and input, 2: Articulation and ornaments, 3: Sounds & Effects, 4: Tempo, 5: Levels, 6: Dynamics & Automation, 7: Mastering, 8: Video), and at any time I have multiple pieces in various stages. Every time I start working on my projects, I decide on what of the stages I want to work on, and then I select one of the pieces in that stage. I try not to work on one piece for more than 1-2 hours at a time, because I do not want to become fixated and start losing the big picture. So for example after an hour working on mastering a Cantata, I spend another hour programming the score of a concerto, and so on. Then when a piece gets to the last stage I post it :)

Thank you! As for the visuals, assuming you have the MIDI file (I just listened to your work "The King", congratulations for the feat, I imagine it's not easy to compose for such a large ensemble), you can use the same tool that I use: osdn.net/projects/miditrail/

Very serious OrzoMondo. You should publish a video on your theory of synthesizers. What could be more serious? Before the singularity takes us all over... tell us how to make good synth sound.
@OrzoMondo5 ай бұрын
You are right, time is limited, at the very least each one of us as a special singularity designed just for them coming closer year after year. Thank you for the encouragement, I have thought about something similar, like taking a piece and show how I do it from start to finish. The only thing I lack is time :/
