My favorite theory I've seen explaining that is that Molly saw a lost-looking child obviously on his way to Hogwarts but didn't want to scare him. (And probably knew it was Harry, and maybe Dumbledore had asked her to keep an eye out for him.) So she brought her kids within earshot and said loudly, "Oh my, where is the entrance for the train to the magic school? Which one is it again? Oh that's right it's THIS ONE!"

The Easter Holiday thing is pretty funny, that Ben says “That’s why Draco won’t be here, he went home for Easter” because I’m fairly certain the one time Draco went home for Easter is actually in Deathly Hallows and is the reason why he IS there for Harry, Ron and Hermione to see at Malfoy Manor

Knowing that the train from Platform 9 3/4 leads to Hogsmead (the only wizard exclusively village) I would have thought that it is actually used throughout the entire year.

I wouldn't actually due to all the magical methods of travel. But yeah at least occasional extra use for certain events (for instance at Hogsmead) you'd expect the train could serve a similar prepare as for thee Hogwarts rides! Similarly to the alternative travel method for the quidditch world cup.

We know from HBP that the train goes back after reaching Hogsmead station and letting everyone (except Harry in that case) of the train. Than again maybe the train driver driving the train to storage doesn't really count, but who knows maybe it does?

4:40 - omg my English teacher in 10th grade actually did take into account our arguments! After every reading quiz we'd have, we were given time to come up to her and argue why our answer was correct and deserved points. If we convinced her of our viewpoint, she'd give them back. Sometimes she'd be like 'that's a stretch" when we were clearly just trying to get points when we didn't know what the answer was, but most of the time she'd give us at least partial credit back. Loved her so much, one of the best English teachers I ever had.

So speaking of the living near Hogwarts thing and then having to drive to London only to take the train back up towards Scotland, I heard a theory once that there are actually many different barriers throughout Great Britain that lead to Platform 9-3/4. The theory was that the student would go to their closest barrier and when passing through it would magically transport them to the actual Platform 9-3/4 so they can take the train with the rest of the students! I loved this theory because it always felt incredibly odd and unfair for those students who lived up north who had to have their parents drive them all the way down to London. I mean Hogwarts doesn't always do things that make the most sense but in this case, I like to think this was true!

Something that has always bothered me about the king's cross sequences is the only people you ever see make the journey through the barrier is Harry and people associated with Harry. There's never a moment where Harry and gang gets to the barrier and there's another group going through...every single time everybody is already inside the platform.

I actually went to King’s Cross on epilogue day, September 1st 2017. It was packed! People wearing everything from merch to full on cosplay! Some of the cast were there too although I was too far back to see them. I got some stuff from the 9 3/4 shop, it was amazing!

I was on King's Cross on 31st August 2017. I went from London to Edinburgh. I didn't realise at all what was on the next day since I'm not such a fan of HP. In terms of the house color ties and badges, I like to imagine that when you get your hogwarts robes you also get blank ties and badges that magically change color once you're sorted, because they're considered a part of the school uniform. Any other paraphernalia (scarves, socks, jumpers) would probably be something you can buy to show house pride once you actually have time to develop house pride

Ginny and Draco are home for the holidays in Deathley Hallows. But it's unclear if you use the train. In book 5 they use the Knight Bus and in 6 (iirc) floo powder but Luna was kidnapped from the train in 7. So yeah, it's hard to know for sure

About the giftshop: correct me if I am wrong, but in the books it is never mentioned that the different houses wear different ties and stuff. For example in the second book when Harry and Ron turn into Crabbe and Goyle, they have to use different robes because their own are too small. It is never mentioned they would look like gryffindors. So it is not necessary to have a gift shop at Hogwarts except maybe if you want to support your house in quidditch matches

Maybe its just supplied to them? It may be a movie only thing but the scene we see of Harry sitting by the window with Hedwig, the chairs all have house stuff on them. I assume they would just be supplied stuff. I don't think their shirts have a crest, so the cloaks probably are one size (maybe just different lengths) and winter time they are given scarves and hats.

I had a teacher that honored my "wrong" answer to a bonus question once. It was a riddle that was something like, "I'm full of holes, but still hold water, what am I?" My answer I came up with during the test time was a washing machine lol. The inside of a top load washing machine, if you look inside, has tons of holes... lol. The real answer was a sponge haha. Love these videos! I remember trivia from them. I work with animals and take them to schools etc doing education. This week I visited a holiday camp called 'Camp Hogwarts' honestly was kinda jealous of the kids. I took a tarantula to show them and the leader asked the kids who could name hagrids giant spider. They got it then I asked if anyone know aragogs wife's name (a question on a couple of these quizzes) no one got it. Told them it was Mosag and they were amazed. Never felt so cool in my life before 😂 Also acromantula are said to be giant spiders, not giant tarantulas. Tarantulas are actually NOT big spiders they're different! And the Basilisk has eyelids so is technically a legless lizard, snakes don't have eyelids! That's my animal wisdom to add to your Harry Potter knowledge 😂

I have to call shenanigans on 9 3/4 used only 6 times. The ride is an Express ride - meaning non-stop. There is nothing to say that there are many runs that have multiple stops along the way. So, the Express (non-stop) occurs 6 times a year but platform 9 3/4 is likely used multiple times a day (trains coming/going from different locations.

OotP would be my second guess, same reason, but I think they just skip past it there. 9:37 “I was like, ‘Ben, donʼt be an idiot; itʼs definitely not going to be not a round time’.” These are wizards weʼre talking about. They are leaving from platform 9¾, to go on a train where they can buy sweets with prime-denomination currency. Now that you mention it Iʼm surprised itʼs 11, not 11:37:27 Quizmaster 2: 6; I saw J write it before I got a chance to pause and try to answer it myself but Iʼd have come up with the same number. The books do mention a candy shop in the school. End of book one all Harry’s gifts exact quote “what looked like half the candy shop”. Plus Ron and Hermione buy Harry sweets for Christmas before they are able to go to Hogsmeade. I think the ties are magically changed to match their houses, scarves as well. They start out all black and are magically changed when they are sorted.

My school district always had us start on a Thursday so that we could go over school rules and class syllabus and get the school layout (you weren't punished if you were late or got the wrong room for those first 2 days) before classes actually start on the following Monday. There were 2 times the Bros inadvertently referred to the Harry Potter books in this Quiz. 1) J talked about your pocket not being a great place to keep cake (which was weirdly captioned over with 'muffled dialogue'), and Hagrid kept Harry's b-day cake in his pocket in the 1st book; 2) [this is less direct] Ben had a line of someone saying "___ our Geraldine" going through his mind for the Victoire question, now there is a line in the "Vicar of Dibly" when someone referred to "our Geraldine" & the Vicar's full name is Geraldine Granger, which (aside from the HP series) is the only other time I've heard a character's last name be "Granger"; Bit random & not necessarily relevant to this video/channel, but I couldn't stop thinking about the fact each brother had a reference to the books without actually intending to, so I wanted to post it for the wider internet community to potentially read [:)]

I'm still convinced that the hogwarts express is used regularily over the year as it connects london to hogsmeade. I'd say some of the villagers would want to take the train to london or vice versa and on these 6 days (before and after summer holidays, christmas and easter) it's just reserved for the pupils of hogwarts.
