With 18mm plywood I made a circular saw track guide jig. fortunately it works perfectly. I'm pleased with that. But 18mm plywood was too thick to cut thicker boards. It sacrified too much thickness. So I re-made a sled with 12mm. I recommend you make the jig with thinner or same wood of 12mm. This video is original and hasn't been changed with modified one. Sorry about that and please forgive me.
Anyway I would like you to enjoy watching. Thanks a lot.

Great idea and so calming to watch. You have a special gift in teaching table saw safety by going slow and carefully planning all of your cuts. 👏

that didn’t look safe at all! with the blade spinning while his hand was reaching onto the table? He should have turned off the saw as soon as the cut was done.

This will work where a table saw will not in many cases, just like a track saw. I made one similar to this, but I used 1/2" ply for the track and a 1/4" base I had for my circular saw. It gives me two inches of cutting depth. Great for breaking down sheet goods or cutting the edge of a large piece like a table.

Hey J. What a great take on this tool. As always, bringing fresh insight, perspectives, and innovations to tried and trusted methods. I REALLY need to make one of these. I've neglected my handheld saw so badly that I haven't even changed the blade since the 90s...I'm just awful sometimes. It's a great saw too but I just hardly ever use the thing. But, if I'd make something like this, I'd get more use out of it because it would be better to use. Thanks for visiting this technique. Great video.

There are so many videos of similar jigs with this and I have another one which was made and uploaded before. But I hardly use it. It has a problem. I needed to make another. I hesitated making this video because I would bother my subscribers. Sorry about that. As I'm a KZbinr I am urged to upload periodically. My creativity isn't like wells. It sometimes runs out. Now I'm in the same situation. That's why you met the boring video. Thanks for your kind compliment as always. Take good care of you friend.

I have made a very simple one before but I need to be careful that the saw doesn't come to the right ans ruin the cut as it doesn't have anything to hold on place. Your design is much better. I tho k it is my favorite so far and I will one just like yours but maybe out of 12mm instead of 18mm. Awesome idea. I love it. Keep up the good work.

I built 2 (much simpler versions), 1 is 4' and the other is 8'. On both, I put anti-slip tape on the bottom so I don't have to clamp them down. I still will if I REALLY need to be extremely precise and get paranoid, but for all the jobs I've done so far, the tape works perfectly well as long as you don't put a lot of sideways pressure on the saw (which you shouldn't be doing anyway).

Very nice. I will make something similar in the near future. I wanted to ask if you have or plan to add an outfeed table for your table saw? I notice that when you make cuts that you hold the board down at the end of the cut and either turn the saw off or lower the blade. I used to do that then I added an outfeed table to support the wood. It was a way to make using the saw safer. You are very skilled and I enjoy watching your videos a great deal. If you have children or grandchildren you could teach them about wood working too. Thank you again for all you do. Stay safe and I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

J, why do you use both a miter groove and the fence? Can you just use the saw with the miter without the fence. Seems to me that the fence would do nothing when the miter slot is keeping the saw in line.

I like this, but I think that the piece of wood you are using as the shoe of the saw is too thick. It robs the blade of its maximum cutting depth. I think you could have used a piece of 5mm thick acrylic just as successfully. Thanks for sharing.

Ahem!!! There are two simple ways to make this jig. One way is to fix the wood strip to the moving panel, and cut a groove in the main board to accommodate the strip. Do not use the narrow board. Another way is to fix the narrow board onto the wide board and do not cut a groove in the main board, or fix a strip to the sliding panel.

Perfect for small projects. Not got a lot of power so if the wood starts to flex it stops the saw pretty easy. Use it for small tasks and you will be happy. Safety system Works great kzbin.infoUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c .lose your grip on the saw it shuts off and the sheath closes over exposed saw.

not bad, but you loose so much cutting depth by using a sole and a track that thick, all you can cut with it are sheet material, but then again that is mostly what you need a track saw for.
