The comparsion would have been better if both setups used at least optimum tyre pressures. Since this is one of the key factors in ACC a lot of the delta should come from this only, not the setup itself. But interesting video idea, maybe a follow up?

On all sim racing games, I push myself to the limit without a setup and once I feel I've reached the limit, I then apply a setup and push from there. On WRC that's gotten me from ~60th on leaderboards to the World Record or top 5 several times. On ACC, it really just made the car more bearable and easier to drive which made me faster.
@stopmotionkid962 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly the right thing to do mate! Setups only “help” when you already know the track and the car’s behaviour.
@LtKatzeGP3 ай бұрын
I hate to disagree, but sometimes it is pointless running on the default setup since its quite limited on what you can achieve with it, as you will need a meta setup to be competitive, and most of the time the car will drive completily different with said setup, so you shouldnt get used to the default.

Thank you for making this video. I just got into League racing in ACC. I've been playing with a wheel for about a year. I won silver league for my first League on pc in actrollvision. Next season I start in gold. anyway to the point... I didn't even know you could do this with motec. I wish you could point us a little bit more in the right direction of setup but I understand why you're not showing your setup. I've been softening up the suspension a bunch and just trying to keep Tire temps in check. I have a G29 and the force feedback has been cutting out half way through my races. so I just ordered the new DD Pro and it'll be here in a couple days. I really wanted to get the load cell but it's not available. Im hoping that I can find another one and modify it. You're literally 2 seconds faster than me and I am super frustrated right now with the g29... I hope that the clarity of the direct-drive helps. I've done racing my whole life. I started at 16 volunteering at tracks and you're completely right.... without the setup you're nothing. you can have all the talent in the world but without the right side up and equipment.

@LucaTavernari2 жыл бұрын
Look at the motec, input is different otherwise you wouldn't lose that much time. If you want, you can start by comparing the replay (your replay and what James showed with his first attempt) You'll notice that you'll either be going too deep or too early on the brakes, or just taking different lines, too late on throttle (compared to him) and so on and so forth. 3 seconds per lap is 2 or 3 tenths per corner (on average) depending on the track, so you need to be looking really well at all the differences

General rule of thumb is per degree C hotter or colder adjust the pressures by 0.1 psi. What I do is save all my setups with the temperature at that time on track in the name so it is easy to adjust

May i suggest for future two things? 1) compare not vs 100% stock setup, but at very least with tire pressures done on it too, as even those, that drive stock setups, still always do tire pressure un fuel amount adjustments. ACC happens to be sim, where tire pressures being in optimal window matters a lot, and that single change may contribute half if not more speed delta and ease of handling of "100% stock" vs that of custom one 2) imho worth fine tuning setups in own multiplayer server, not in hotlap mode. Many reported seeing different physics/BOP/grip level/lap times in hotlap mode, and that their setups created there sometimes didn't work well or had handling artifacts when used in actual multiplayer qualy/race

I'll tell you right now, 1:50 with a controller is decent. On most public servers, 1:48.5 is competitive. Before the 1.8 patch, I could do 1:47.6X if I paid attention. why isnt a good idea to change every car to the same steering wheel ratio(on car setup)? i think, muscle memory works better if you do the same thing all the time, but i see every track and car gives you a different default in this part ot the setup
@theoopsdrivers2 жыл бұрын
Because some tracks you need more down force like Zandvoort, some tracks you need almost nothing like Monza. Some tracks are super flat and car bump isn't as much as an issue, and some tracks you got to soften the suspension way more or you would be flying towards a way on the first curb you hit. I think It's fun tweaking the setups, and specially when you start seeing results. Of course there is driving style as well. I am a noob when it comes to it still, but I was able to get almost 3 seconds faster at Zadrvoort with a setup I came up with, compared to the aggressive in which I was failing miserably.
