Let me add, as a point of curiosity, going around most tracks in a real GT3, is the steering wheel jerking and twitching all over the place? I could see it a place like Sebring, but LMU FFB just feels .... Wild. The FFB in sims like RaceRoom, iRacing and ACC feels like it's focused more on tire load than jerking all over the place on every surface irregularity. I hate adding dampening and filtering to quiet things down, but I feel like I have to dampen the crap out of my DD wheel on LMU. You tell me? How crazy is wheel feedback on a real McLaren 720 GT3?
@InsertCleverUsername18 күн бұрын
It's interesting you mention braking pressure values, because the load cell in most sim-level pedals will also be reporting values (calibrated to some unit MPa, Bar, PSI, etc) which is then transformed to the floating point ranged value between 0.0 - 1.0. So for many pedal sets it's already possible to have a more accurate model of braking pressure but currently the main barriers are a lack of pedal driver support for handling pressure based brake values and then the sims themselves expecting to deal with the current values that the pedal drivers handle.

Regarding you feel about the weight of the car. From my experienc rF2 and LMU are both pretty sensetive to fuel load and how it affects FFB. Considering that we have only a limited amount of FFB signal generated by the forces on the steering rack - also the reason why curbs feel very severe in pMotor titles - it's pretty obvious why making the car feel heavier with a light vehicle isn't as straight forward if you want to avoid clipping once the tank is full. ;)

Love your videos and enjoyed watching this as well. However, I took the #59 for a spin yesterday and my goodness was it bad. Maybe there's something you can do with settings or setups and maybe my 8NM wheelbase limits the feeling a bit, but to me there was just zero feel in the FFB until you went past 240kmh or so. In the middle of the corner you can turn your wheel all over the place and it doesn't really impact the line as the car just floats around on its line. The feeling I got was the definition of a floaty sim. Linked to that lack of feel, the car also never seems to have any bite to the road. Maybe when you go below 50kmh, there is some but in actual driving scenario you never feel the tires biting like you do on ACC. On top of that you are spot on with the feeling of weight between the two sims. There is also absolutely zero tire noise when you are one the limit and the only time you hear it is when you've already lost it. I don't know how it is in real racing, but in sims the tire noise is an input that is used to compensate for the lack of physical feel when you are sitting in an actual moving vehicle so while it may be unrealistic to some extent, it absolutely provides you a crucial feedback that makes the driving feel more realistic. The ABS feedback is nice, while a bit weird being so strong on the wheel. Similar to the tire noise I can live with this lack of realism for the sake of providing input that you wouldn't otherwise have. All in all the McLaren at least feels simply awful for me, which is a huge disappointment as the LMDh cars felt ok. Even they are rather numb on low speeds, but maybe due to their faster average speeds you feel more on them throughout the lap. As a result, I'm unexpectedly not going to get the GT3 pack or drive them in any manner until there is a huge update on the tire model / physics.

The FFB in LMU has some weak spots. The FFB is over active in telling you the suspension but it doesn't really convey tire grip at the limit that well, especially at slow speeds. exactly it’s distorted on his gopro
@Jaaames28 күн бұрын
@@Civer505 it's not a gopro & the audio is pretty accurate. It does sound like that in actual car.
@ErwinLiszkowicz26 күн бұрын
@@Jaaamesit might feel as brutal, but your videos have an extremely distorted sound. Only the videos from the onboard system on the car itself have decent audio.

Can you please do a video where you compare LMU gt3s to ACC gt3s and is there big online races on LMU like the virtual 24h nürburgring and spa on ACC Can LMU gt3s driving translate to real world driving like acc can or am I better buying acc

so real cars feel like the Merc in every game over curbs?

I have the worlds best PC, 4090, 9800x3d, 64 gig and graphics are dogshit on LMU, all settings maxed out, what am I doing wrong?
@Jaaames28 күн бұрын
Hmmm, what FPS are you getting?

@ min 180 mate.. I run max setttings on iracing, ultra detail on everything, I run sharpening and HD, I use fxaa and the only setting not peaked is I run SMA on low rain only, my monitor is a 100 inch oled Samsung the FPS driving a sports car is about 160 min, 190 min driving a open wheeler and iracing graphics absolutely shit on everything I play. It’s like that sharpening and HD makes it unbeatable in terms of graphics

Not sure if James gave the GT3 mods from RSS in Assetto Corsa a go, but to me they are way better than any other GT3 I tried. Compared to iRacing, Automobilista and ACC, they sound spot on and drive remarkably well.

Have tried some, maybe not the latest ones. I'll have a look

Nice video ;) I'm always on ACC but one day I'll try LMU ;) Question : actually in LMU , is there a career mode or something similar ? Thanks

Regarding the car weight feeling: I think Raceroom currently does that best. And since they now have a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo (in the DTM 2024 class), I would be really interested in your thoughts on that implementation. I hope you can do a video on that.

This game is actually so good. After an unreasonable short term ban from iracing, I’ve been looking at other sims, and I am now obsessed with this. Thanks iracing! Appreciate you being absolute tossers and allowing me to dump your game :) If I’m honest, I’m over iracing. Their feel sucks, the immersion sucks, the sound sucks. The game needs to die. LMU has been so fun!

Sound is the underdog of games. Whilst gamers spend easily 1000 dollar on a GPU, sound must do it with the onboard MB sound chip. I play FS 2020 with the PMDG 737-800. The sounds are okay-ish but compared to the rattle and rumble from a real cockpit the sounds are very shallow. Same for all race games i own. Sad...

I feel like regarding sounds, obviously in real life the sound would be muffled a bit under your helmet, but few racing games simulate that
