@@SuperRonnit Actually Ajay & SRK were the 1st choice but Ajay wanted to play Arjun & SRK wanted to play Karan but Rakesh Roshan refused so both Ajay & SRK left the film, then the film was offered to Salman & Aamir, Salman was busy with Hum Aapke Hain Kaun & didn't wanted to do the film but Sooraj Barjatya told him to do the film, Aamir couldn't do the film, SRK came back & agreed to play Arjun this is why there was bad blood between Ajay & SRK for long time, Ajay believed when they mutually agreed to leave the film SRK shouldn't have went back

Reincarnation and revenge used to be a very common trope in Bollywood, so if anything, that English movie got the concept from India. There have been a lot of them before and after. And you are right about Salman's girl. She was included here just as a love interest, to dance around. Its kind of unacceptable for a Bollywood hero to not have a girl especially if the other hero has one. At least Kajol's role had a purpose of getting the two into the village.
