What's impressive is that this movie was made entirely by a group of men; the writers , director and producers were all men..the producer and writer Shoojit Sircar even said that this movie was made not for women but for boys and men and i think he was absolutely correct and writer Ritesh Shah had said this movie was inspired from anecdotes from his female friends...this just goes on to prove that men can write great stories for women and women can write great stories for men...like Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti wrote Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara which showcased one of the best portrayal male friendships in Bollywood and Gully Boy too...recently the movie caught flak when Amitabh Bachchan shared a photo of the movie's behind the scenes team and it was all men and people were shocked that there wasnt a single woman in the photo because all men worked in this movie and they were offended, but i thought it was impressive and really good that these men know and understand the female experience in our country and doing something about it

I had a senior in my PG college who I used to idolize because his work station was beside me and he taught me so much over 2 years. I became a very good Prosthodontist because of him. Then came the last day of college. At the party, he began discussing about this movie. He was taking the side of the guys. I was disgusted but I still didn't think much into it... until.. when there was no one around us, he started to grope me!! I was beyond disgusted now. I was shocked because I always thought of him as an older brother, a mentor, and a teacher with very much respect. The previous 2 years felt like a lie to me. This shows what kind of people take the side of the boys in this movie. Be careful who you associate with. I wanted to report him so that he doesn't get his upcoming prestigious job. But I was too shocked for many days. He left for his hometown the same day and I later came to know that he destroyed his own life, job , and new marriage by drinking. Karma did the work.

It's one thing to be vocal about abuse against women but when the same violence happens with us, it's hard to come to terms with the reality that yes, we ourselves have been subjected to the same thing we used to speak against. Recently, i read that in the courtroom sequences, the director refused to say CUT and let the performances run until the camera memory sticks were full! So each take was 15-20 mins long, shot by multiple camera angles! Only very seasoned actors could pull off such long performances without mistakes!

This movie brought up a very important topic about consent in India like never before. All the court proceedings felt so real as Character assasination of women is real. An independent party goer girl is thought to be easy and character less but guys like that are considered studs. Sheer hypocrisy of the society. On top of that male ego is so much that they cannot understand No. It's so difficult for women to trust men and feel safe that's why. This was a thought provoking scary movie which hopefully would make the concept of consent clear.

True but also vice-versa is there which no one cares…sometimes girls don’t take no as no and keep pushing and forcing…with all the weapons they have and the shelter provided by unfair ,biased law ,girls do crime and evil things….getting shunned by society is devastating for girls but imagine being jailed for several year for being innocent and for the crime u never did…Ask any handsome or good looking guy,he will tell about a woman’s ego…women will go to any extent if it comes to their ego, after 100 NOs ,u r still being forced, touched and ur personal space being invaded, whatever u do,raise ur voice or anything will be used as u harassing her…I don’t want to make this man vs woman thing,we need each other but don’t mention things like a man s ego this n that n he doesn’t take no for no n women are all good n cutie😂😂😂…No means no…man or woman or any other gender ,all should respect it

Just FYI: 1. The older guy is Falak's boyfriend, not her dad. 2. She "admits" that they took money to move past that argument because the prosecution's argument was just based on the assumption that they were sex workers. Falak didn't take any money, but admitted to it to make the point that even if money was exchanged, consent is more important and that Minal withdrew hers, and that should be the key takeaway and nothing else.

For the real rape case which was the most brutal one - Nirbhaya, it took 10 years to give the verdict of hanging the criminals whereas another side on the false rape case, the innocent guy had to spend 25 years in jail. Atleast these were the recorded cases that were also shown on news. Do you know how many cases that are not recorded are just dumped like that? I know I'm late to this, but I absolutely loved your reactions to this movie!! Steph and Andrew are definitely one of my favorite pairs for Bollywood movies. To clear up the confusion, Minal and the other girls never took money from the guys or asked them for it. The prosecutor kept on pressuring them to say exactly what he wanted them to say, which was that they forced the guys to pay them. I honestly don't know if that's allowed in real life or if that was just for the movie, but it made me so mad how he kept forcing Falak to "admit" that they took the money. Falak was so emotionally drained from this and everything else that she decided to say yes in order to shut him up because she thought it wouldn't make a difference if they said otherwise because nobody would believe them. I cannot express how well Amitabh acted in this movie... His passion, his delivery, his emotions, everything was just absolutely perfect. Every single court scene of his was amazing, but that last closing statement is just something else. "No means no" and the girl's safety manual concept is something that every single guy out there should know because it is just sick how some guys can just think that doing those things to a girl is acceptable... I wish this movie was more popular in the US and around the world in general because this is truly a movie that everyone should see.

i like this movie very much. Its one of the best movies out there and i agree 100% with this movie. The issue comes when women abuse law and use it against men, Till date in the constitution when they talk about sexual assault or Grape they define it with women and their parts, no where does the constitution define grape for men. It means if a man is grapped by a woman then the woman may not even be charged, that is what scares me. On top of that a woman can accuse a man and ruin his career. I am happy that Pink talks about such tops for women and it should shed light but because the pendulum has swung so far men now are staying away from women because they can not only put them behind bars but also put the entire family of the man behind bars. The law should be there to protect people not weaponize it. We have come far as an Indian Society but we need to still rewrite certain laws to be gender neutral so it's not weaponized by either gender.

If you enjoy courtroom scenes, please watch" Sirf ek baanda kafi hai" starring Manoj Bajpayee. It's about a famous case against a Godman accused of molesting a minor girl. Manoj Bajpayee is an absolute Boss in this movie and his monologue in the climax scene is just WOOH.

One may not believe it but this film has created a great impression in the minds of Indian women.Because the cinema or any film shows an impact in the society. This type of film inspires women to fight. Earlier many times women used to compromise that it is okay let it go. But Not Now she knows that tolerating even a slap is wrong. This type of film should be made on every single issue no matter what issue shares the wrong way of things in this society. Nowadays when a girl claims to be a feminist, people misunderstand her. Being a feminist is great. If anyone knows the exact definition of that. It means this. A woman who recognizes her power and knows that what is her existence. I am also a feminist. Me being a feminist doesn't mean I don't want to cook for my husband. I don't want to support my family or I don't want to do my housework. I go for everything, but at the same time want respect. I don't want to make any kind of compromise. for something. But if a boy is not compromising and I am being told that you compromise. I would love to be a feminist in those times. I really liked two films of Taapsee Pannu. One is Pink and another movie. Thappad Both the films have taught me a lot and I thank you very much. Thanks to all the actors and actresses who act in such films and also to those who make the film.

Did anyone notice, what Amitabh sir means and the reason behind he said, no means no weather a sex worker or wife. And you seen that scene when he is talking to his wife or lady in hospital. Are those scenes connected, I think so. He did handle a case like that before that's why he said, he can't take one more case, but later he did take it.

Fact : When the proceedings started it said State vs. Minal Arora. It was the case of Police vs Minal and friends. I reality, Court can just convict or acquit them with the charges. For Rajvir and friends to be held guilty, a different police complaint or case need to be filed, and proceedings to be done under a different case number.

Almost every girl in India will have such a story of catcalling or groping or molestation to tell! Many stories are untold and when such stories are told men too come out and support them. But there are many men too who think they are supporting the women when watching such a movie but out on the road when they see a woman walk in a dress that is a few inches short by their standard they too look at the woman like Rajvir did. They may or may not act like Rajvir but they do think like him.

it's a very small point.." consent " but Indians are very good at elaborating things..but screenplay, suspense, addressing the mindsets of society towards women with changing times ... though we feel like this is being stretched,it's worthy.
