I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. Disney has been my guiding light since childhood. In 1993, I applied to Disney in Germany as an illustrator but received a rejection. I still have that letter in my archive and told myself, "One day, I will make it." Now, 31 years later, I am establishing my own cartoon company and working on the fourth volume of a children's book series. Disney remains a role model for me. Thank you, Walt Disney.

LOL speaking as an animation student, “contractually obligated” is nooot the reason. Any given Disney character has their own fandom even in the general public, and you don’t become a professional artist if you don’t live and breathe that obsession in some form. It’s the only good reason to stick around, because it’s not the salary! Especially with the industry being so competitive right now, there are **plenty** who would kill for the chance to work with a lot of these characters. Plus this seems like a pretty candid interview given that light dig about no one caring to work on the dinosaur.

I've done animation myself. From 2D to 3D. But even though I understand how everything is done, I will never stop be amazed at how magical these creations are. These aren't just characters, they're friends we've all grown up with. All the artists, (2D, 3D, animators, clean up artists, colorers, modelers, lighting, visual FX, voice actors, post production, etc.) are all wizards making magic. Thank you all for the memories.

I screamed HORRIBLY at the way Dinosaur was not only mentioned in passing but fully drawn attention to; that movie is so nostalgic for me, it's perhaps my biggest comfort movie ever, and seeing that it's remembered at all makes me so unreasonably happy because it's rarely ever mentioned these days. That's so amazing that not only is Aladar's original animator still at Disney but that he was so eager to work on the characters again... it just warms my heart to know that they haven't been completely forgotten :'D Amazing video all around, thank you for sharing it! I loved Once Upon a Studio, so it's so absolutely fascinating to see all the behind-the-scenes on it. One of my (many!) favourite things about that short is the way they were able to use archival recordings of Robin Williams that hadn't made it into the movie to give Genie new dialogue, so it made me really happy that you drew attention to that too!

Great video. I visited the studio in 2011, before the massive renovation that went through - It was one of the most beautiful days of my life. The studio building is called the "Roy E. Disney Animation Building" and its construction was completed in 1994. The production of the film 'Pocahontas' in 1995 was already done there, the animators returned from Glendale directly there. In recent years, the studio has undergone a facelift and a particularly refreshing change.

The Walt Disney Animation Studio truly feels like a magical place! I believe Osamu Tezuka's 'Astro Boy (= Mighty Atom)' series aligns perfectly with Disney's philosophy and style. In the future, after the copyright expires, it would be incredible if Disney could produce a 3D classic animation of 'Astro Boy (= Mighty Atom).' Combining Disney's charm with Astro's story could create a deeply moving experience for audiences worldwide!

The work environment at Walt Disney Animation Studios looks so fascinating! I hope that Disney will create animated versions of Korean fairy tales in the future. There is so much potential in reimagining traditional Korean stories in the Disney style. For example, "Heungbu and Nolbu", "The Fairy and the Woodcutter", "The Tortoise and the Hare", "The Dangun Myth", "The Golden Axe and the Silver Axe", "The Snake in the Story", "The Tiger and the Dried Persimmon", "The Beast of Busan (Tiger or Snake)", "Shim Cheong (The Faithful Daughter)", "The Story of Dongbangsak", "The Sun and the Moon", and many more could all blend perfectly with Disney’s magical touch. I’m really excited to see how these Korean fairy tales might be reimagined at Disney!
