Hi, what is the major difference between the original jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey and the jack Daniel’s rye?

It comes down to the Mash bill ( ingredients ) that they use to create this whiskey . In order for it to be a Rye Whiskey , at least 51 % of the ingredients use to make this whiskey must be rye grains . Standard Jack Daniels uses a Bourbon mash bill ( because it basically is bourbon ) . A bourbon mash bill must be at least 51 % corn to be a bourbon . That difference in ingredients changes the flavor . That said , this Rye tastes very similar to Old No. 7 from JD . I wasn't really a fan .

I am willing to bet that High West rye is better.. And also New Riff Rye... Both of which I really, really like.

Yeah, I'm not a big Jack Daniels fan - Tennessee Whiskey or Rye. I will drink Gentleman or Single Barrell if it's a good deal.
