You should've checked the fuse box to see if a circut breaker had tripped. The electrician probably fleeced you. There's barely anything that ever goes wrong with a switch. He's probably replaced it to use up time and just reset the circuit breaker.

Nowadays the charging the phone bit would be about clowns who want to charge their EV while they visit. Unreal. Apart from anything else, EVs are a fire hazard and you should not let them anywhere near your house.

I suspect the story might not be based on fact. Doesnt everyone know to check the rcb box when any appliance pops? And £25 an hour plus VAT? In London? And no minimum call out?

I am in Australia 🇦🇺 I returned last year after 20 years in uk eg London darford Oxford. As an owner and renter I found tradies so disappointing late expensive rude
