Jack is like a son to John Farnham and toured with him many years ago. He is a great singer we don't hear enough of him

Jack Jones’ voice was often commented on about how it was similar to John’s.

I was early into my college when I first heard the song. I was captivated right there and then. It's just unbelievable how I am more into it four decades after.

Irwin was in John Farnham's band playing guitar - he can be seen in John's performance of Reasons that you've reacted to. He's the guitarist with really long hair in that video.

When this came I out I would have stand up arguments that this was John Farnham exactly like you said that quiver wave in his voice . He worked with John for so long maybe he picked up a few tricks . Love jack”Erwin”

You can definitely hear similar tonal qualities that sound like John.

@@kennethdodemaide8678 you can see in early videos that John really loved jack as well . Imagine getting your big break with John as a mentor . Totally wonderful .

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but watch the D Generation's comedy song 'Five In A Row', where they parody some famous Aussie singers (Kylie and Jimmy Barnes). John Farnham is the first one in the clip and Jack Jones, although he doesn't appear in the clip is singing the Farnham part.I think that is one of the first times we heard him sing. Then Southern Sons became famous and the rest is history 🙂

Yes Jack Jones sounds so much like our mate John Farnham infact about 30 years ago a group of Oz comedians called D Generation did a sketch/song called "5 in a row" and Jack did the voice for John.

I stumbled upon that clip only a few days ago and commented that it should have millions of views. I watched it about 5 times in a row and another few times yesterday. I was going to send a PayPal request but got beaten to it. He has an amazing voice and should be a massive international star.

Once I ran a big band clinic in Gippsland in country Australia around 1986 and guess who the Jazz guitarist was? This guy. And he asked for any tips. And I said what he was doing on guitar was superb. Because it was. And he is meticulous on guitar and gifted with his voice. Pure talent. And a heck of a gentleman aside from that.

Let’s just say from the outset, that I was never a follower of Southern Sons ….BUT… a few years ago I saw Jack/ Irwin in Concert…. And just sitting there, Listening you really appreciate what a singer and a Talent he is….. It was a wonderful night out ….someone that is under appreciated in this country…. And should be more widely acclaimed… Yes …. Close your eyes and parts of his voice are truly Farnham… I think he would welcome the compliment.

Beautiful writing, beautiful interpretation and delivery. I can hear similarities to JF but there is is a different quality to JJ/IW’s voice, a sweetness, when he delivers like this.

Of course he must have been influenced by JF. He played in his band and sang back up. He also has a very similar range. Jack/Irwin is still singing great as ever.

Love this song. Yes there are some similarities. He has a much softer tender voice and uses his falsetto more than John. I think he sounded more like John when he was younger and was in Johns band.
@andoletube2 жыл бұрын
I find it kind of irritating when people say "he sounds like John Farnham". I think that is only the case when people haven't spent enough time listening to him. I've listened to him a lot over the years - to the point where he sounds distinctly different to John Farnham, and I have to really concentrate to find similarities between them. I think it does both of them a disservice to keep comparing them.

Wow. I didn't much like Southern Sons when they were big but this vocal is exceptional 👏 I don't completely agree that Jack/Irwin's voice is like Farnham's though. They're similar in pitch but Jack's voice is lighter whereas Farnham's is richer.
