Jack & Kate // Their Story

This year LOST celebrated its 10 years anniversary since The End. I've recently rewatched all the seasons and what a journey it was. Such a great show. I maybe even appreciate it even more than back in the day. (With the exception of the last season because some stuff felt a bit too OCC for me).
BUT THESE TWO. Fuuuuckk. The heartbreak. I almost make a - their journey/parallels - video of all my otps to these songs so hey, why not do it to my favourite pairing since the start. Once I started the video I realised that this would be a LONG one haha. Like - this could be short documentary. So "excuse me" for the length BUT I have a reason for this, the video is 23 minutes and 51 seconds. 23 being Jack's number and 51 being Kate's. So there's good reasoning behind the length even tho' i only came up with this excuse whilst passing the 18 minute mark during the edit.
I wanted to make a video showing their entire story, showing the parallels and showing some references from other characters that actually apply to their story as well. Also making all quotes that bitch Cassidy made who understood nothing about the relationship Kate had with either men and turn them into Jate related quotes. Wooops.
I hope some of my Jack&Kate peeps are still out there and enjoy this video.

Jack is such a powerful character, so true, so broken and lonenly, and yet unbelievably strong. he is not like any other, that makes him who he is but it also makes him so damn outcast and hence aggressive. Just like Thai girl says, he is a leader, a great man, and that makes him lonely and angry. He is so emotinal, so rust in showing them and him trying to hide his emotions and have self-control makes his emotions even more vivid and powerful. Jack is an iconic character, remarkable and unforgetable, left by everyone in the end, even by Kate, left to die alone.

Jack was an unrealistic character, he was way too good at way too many things. Being a surgeon, fist-fighting, poker, shooting guns, swimming, leading people, keeping "rockstar stubble" all the time even though he's trapped on an island........yep, Jack's awesome at all of those things! Unrealistic.

No couple, not a single one comes any closer to what Jate had. It's unspeakable yet so real and vivid. You can feel their emotions, their chemistry, the pain. All of them. They are hands down one of the most iconic couples of entertainment world. Jate truly is Fate.

I finished Lost for the very first time yesterday. What an amazing show. I have shipped Jate since the pilot, and when he first protected her on the plane. The whole show, they were always protecting each other. The smiles they share, the "you okay?"s and every look they give still gives me chills. What an amazing video and couple. Yess I love this, could watch the entire story of Jack and Kate over and over again and never be bored. Seriously the effort you've put into this is amazing, and you deserve all the credit for keeping Jaters afloat during these difficult times. I'm an old guy in my 60s, but still a romantic at heart. LOST was the first TV show I had watched from beginning to end in many years. (Battlestar Galactica was the second). So fortunate that both programs were on at the same time. But, while it had so many memorable characters and storylines, BSG never had a romantic couple to rival JATE. It was the Jack/Kate romantic storyline that kept me watching LOST. The show itself was great, despite so many unresolved questions and storylines. My only disappointment was that Jack and Kate never became Mr. and Mrs. Shephard and never got to have a houseful of kids. That said, OH how I wish we could see Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly together once again. Even now, almost 20 years later I'm sure they could light up the screen with that chemistry...

These two just break my heart 💔 I've just finished watching the show for the first time, and I was rooting so hard for them to be together since the pilot. I was waiting the whole series to see them get together and live happy with each other, but that never came to be. Even the moments where they were living as a couple were so short and followed by hurt. And it just breaks my heart that there were so few moments of intimacy and happiness between them. And I don't mean intimacy just on a sexual way, but also intimacy of sharing how they felt and coming clean with their emotions. Instead, there were so many moments where they were together on screen but they were covering their feelings and not adressing them and just talking about anything else but that. And it hurts me that it had to be that way, because I really wanted to see their relationship more in depth, not just being most of the time in that surface of sexual tension. And it also breaks my heart that they couldn't live a happy life together here on Earth after everything on the island. They deserved it. And they had so few moments were they showed their true love to each other. I'm very happy that they reunite and get together in the afterlife, but still. I wanted to see so much more of them 💔💔💔😭 Their chemistry is amazing btw

Completely agree with absolutely everything you said there. My feelings exactly. Was incredibly painful to watch, and I'll alway wish the writers had written things differently between them, because the actors and those two characters had something very special between them. The writers could have shown a representation of true love and healing but instead they never truly came together and opened up and healed together as you say. They didn't deserve the ending they got; and I didn't like the way Jack turned away from her towards the end to essentially give up on life and commit suicide. Will always break my heart. Ah well.

And oh yes, it would've been so beautiful if the writers had shown a representation of true love and intimacy and healing by them really opening up to each other. That would've been so beautiful! And the way they separate from each other at the end is a little todo cold for me. I understand why Jack decides to stay on the island, but the way he walks away so easily after a short kiss feels too cold. And also, when they are in the church in the afterlife and Jack finally remembers everything, it really bothered me that they didn't even kiss or anything, they just hold hands and smile at each other. Like c'mon, that's too cold after you've been away from each other for so long. The other couples shared really passionate and even desperate kisses when they remember each other, but them, the couple that I wanted to see it the most from, just hold hands and smile. C'mon! Anyways, just some complaints

I watched the series a few years ago now but the tragedy of their relationship, the feeling I had that they never quite met, never quite grew into true love together, the dissatisfaction I had with things like as you say, the coldness between them towards the end and yes even in the finale/afterlife, just broke my heart. I've cried more than a few tears for them aha. Ah, humans are funny sometimes, but I've always been sensitive and a hopeless romantic, and I think I saw myself a lot in both of them, so it just really hit me. Really glad to see someone else who feels the same, as you say. I think both the actors should be very proud of how they portrayed them and that relationship. Quite archetypal, I think.
