jack nicholson interview from canada.

two of the most intelligent people i've gotten to know in the 'entertainment business' are sean penn and jack nicholson. they are both independent thinkers, true to their code and brilliant beyond pretense. jack made himself available to me a number of times for radio interviews....at his home, in the studio or on the phone. he was in canada shooting 'the last detail' when we recorded this in the early 70's.

Love the interview Elliot. Jack is the greatest. He and you have a great rapport. At the end of the interview he talks about having a book about Napoleon . I wonder if that was for a possible Kubrick film that never got off the ground. i believe he went to the classic Chinatown' after this. The 70's Jack had classic after classic.

Wow. It is so hard to find interviews with Jack talking about "Carnal Knowledge". Or any of these early films! Or just about ANY interview with him! And there's three on this channel!!!! As an interviewer, you did a thing that drives me nuts when other interviewers DON'T. Jack starts talking about "Carnal Knowledge" - you interject a bit about "Easy Rider", and we do a quick detour. But then you make sure to get Jack back to the story he was about to tell! An interviewer who LISTENS....imagine that! This interview just made me want to rewatch "Marvin Gardens", which I haven't seen in years. I just happened to rewatch "Five Easy Pieces" over the weekend)....and I have always cited "Carnal Knowledge" as one of my absolute top favorite movies of all time. This interview is checking all the boxes for me, thanks so much.
