It's sad but there has to be a reason he is being this way. Maybe something her mom did that ruined her chances of them having a relationship. But he shouldn't take it out on Tessa. She didn't ask to be born. It's not her fault. Or maybe he thinks she is not his. Wonder if there was a DNA test?

Jack had that situation where his mom was so young, her parents raised him as their own kid (so he later found his "big sister" was his mom). As a man of that long ago era he probably has a lot of psychological family issues that he just never dealt with.

Wait, so he is absolved of his responsibilities simply because of his wallet? Why is it on her to have a relationship with his other kids? She would be viewed as an interloper. It would be nice if he tried to bridge the gap and connect the kids. That is ridiculous. I am not saying he is evil or deadbeat or anything, but he's no saint in the situation either. Kevin Costner did the same thing, though in his comments, he only considered his kids with Cynthia were his true kids and didn't even want to acknowledge Liam Rooney. He gave some cash, but the Rooneys didn't need it anyway. He still doesn't really acknowledge his kid. He ran away from his current wife before they married because she was younger and wanted to have kids with him. He finally gave in and now has a truckload of kids with her too. Still doesn't give love to Liam, though. That is crappy and is basically the case here with Nicholson.

@@jbjacobs9514 all I was saying if he don't want a relationship she can't force it on him. I really hate how some parents treat their kids. That feeling stays with the kids for a life time. His other kids understands exactly what she is going through. If their father don't want to be there then they can be there for each other through the connection of their dad in spite of his neglect. This applies to both actors you speak of.

@@Forty_six_and_two It is an interesting question. You can see it is painful for the child, but she is probably better off without him. My best friend barely knew her dad. She tried to connect on a few different instances (mainly because I gently pushed her to try by saying, you will regret it if you don't try and at least if he turns out to be a continuing bleep, you did the right thing and knew). It was painful before and after, but she knew the truth in the end. Neither parent were worth it, really, in her case, but that is another story. Of course, we don't know all the facts really - maybe there is a reason (I doubt it). There have been a few cases where a man makes it VERY crystal clear that he wants no kids. She gets preggers on purpose or by accident. He warned you so don't act all surprised when he reacts in kind. Then again, some men have kids later in life after that and realize that it was time to have kids. It is still painful for the former kid to deal with that, no matter their age, circumstance, success.
