I lost my (11 months younger brother), too suicide. He was HIV+ in the early 90s, when I became a Hospice nurse. He, sadly, committed suicide, due to stigma, (yes, he left letters). I'm very sensitive to this subject, but it needs more attention. Anyone out there, feeling alone, YOU ARE WORTHY. YOU ARE VALID. NEVER EVER FORGET THAT ONE THING.

My own experience with suicide is that those who “succeed” are not the one who are vocal about suicidal ideas. My bro succeeded at his first try. A great proffessional. A father and husband. A bro and son. But none of us were able to figure what was going in his brilliant brain and great heart till we found him hung in a tree. A lot of episodes of this podcast have helped me to deal with this kind of undeserved guilt. But the scar left is for life.

I am not the only one who doesn't do what they say for MS, I have remitting remission ms and I don't take medication I just continue me and do what I feel is good and right. It is frustrating to describe it. I love Jack's description of it. A good advocate for it

I have MS I, also, do do take any medication for the disease, only for the symptoms. I have had this disease for 26 years, I did take DMD, at the beginning, so glad I made the the decision to stop. As, MSer,s, we are experts of our own body, I think it’s wonderful, that you, do what feel good and right for yourself. ~ Risa

You're one of the few who agree. I was diagnosed at 27 in now 48. I know how to manage my fatigue. I find nothing helps with pain, I like to be natural so anything non drug. Gonna sound bad but for me alcohol numbs pain. Doesnt mean drink all the time nor drunk.

Never followed Jack at all. When he mentioned the shame thing, it opened this realization within myself that i want to work on. I have been lied to all my life. Especially from my parents. I want to be so open and honest to a fault. But that shame of the exact reasons he mentioned keep me strangled into hiding things. I dont share parts of me. I been tryi g to make music but i cant even bring myself to share it with my family. I dont want to hear anything negative. Its out there but i dont tell anyone. I just hope people stumble on it and like it. But I am now a big fan of Jack and want to dive into his stuff now. Thank you for the show. Needed it

Great podcast. I like the tail end. It might be really good to do an episode on how alcohol literally kills the brain. And how a doctor in the ER will give the last bed to an alcoholic in withdrawal vs a heroin addict. I had a friend who was pairing down by two shots a day. He was at a gallon of vodka a day. This was to aggressive of a pair down, suffering hallucinations and was having head pressure. We went to the ER and they had to put him into an induced coma to clear his system safely.

Im sorry about your friend. I’m a nurse, but used to be a float tech at a hospital and alcohol withdrawal is definitely the worst. One can easily die without medical supervision and there is a point they can’t be left alone and require 24/7 monitoring.

My brother died as a result of many years of alcoholism. He was sober because his poor health took over and it killed him. I miss him every day. I can see his picture from where I'm sitting. Im sober. My mind was broken. Still is. My addiction was a side effect of trauma.

Alcohol and benzos (xanax, valium, ativan ect) are the two things that can result in death if withdrawn cold turkey. Benzos are called alcohol in a pill as it effects the brain in the same way.

I've been cheering Jack on on Special Forces. I'm at awe at what he has been able to do as a person with MS. I guess now I know why. Unfortunately previews for next week's show indicates he may have to quit. But as a person with fibromyalgia and OA, I find myself so limited in what I can do (I'm also 61 years old LOL). I admire Jack's resilience and perseverence. He is a very smart man.

Have you checked out Mayim's interview with Alan Gordon and his book The Way Out? He expanded the work of Dr John Sarno (Sarno's books start out about back pain but later found it applied to any chronic pain) and Steve Ozanich's book The Great Pain Deception; also Nicole Sach's podcast is amazing. These are all people who had chronic pain, fatigue ect and recovered using the work of Dr Sarno; Nicole Sachs actually was a patient of his and after went in to work for him.

I felt my brother die. He was in another state and I hadn't spoken to him in several weeks. But I cried and cried out of nowhere at my boyfriend's parents house. I found out the next morning. He froze to death the evening before. When I was crying. My boyfriend's mom said she thought God was preparing me. I knew at the time it was happening that it was my brother or my mom. I had a similar experience about a year later. I woke from sleep suddenly and it was the same kind of feeling. I told my roommate as I sat on his bed. I went to work. I got a call. It was my dad. My step-brother had unalived himself a day or two before. I was feeling my dad finding out. He had just been found. In both cases, anytime I question those events, I remember that there were witnesses that saw my end of things. I dissociated a lot for weeks after each event. A few other less intense but still unexplainable things have happened to me. My mom and aunt experience similar things. ☺

I was diagnosed with MS 7 years ago and I knew Jack had it as well so I was excited to listen to this podcast I appreciate Jack for being so open about his diagnosis and life with MS. I know that for many it takes a while to get a diagnosis, I got lucky and was diagnosed pretty fast. I was already seeing a PA at a neurologist office for my migraines and she just happened to work in an office that had MS specialist, another area I was lucky in is that my dad has MS as well the more we talked about my symptoms the more we’re pretty sure that was what I had, from the time I saw the PA to the time I got my diagnosis was 4 months and much like Jack looking back I started showing symptoms probably about a year before, fatigue being the biggest thing, other symptoms I can now look back on were my migraines got worse after being under control for a number of years, nerve pain in my legs and lower back, it was so bad that one night after work I could not get my legs into the car I had to pick them up with my hands and put them in the car, don’t worry I was not driving, it was at that point that I knew I neeeded to get into see a doctor

When the Osbournes show came out, I was 17-18 and adored Jack. I felt we had so much in common. Now at age 39, it’s so wild to see how much we still have in common. Recovery, kids, the paranormal, a love of 2A & conspiracy theories. This interview was such a great trip for me.

Recovery fluid lol... I'm in a long-term M.A.T. program and I consider myself clean from the way I used to live. [from homeless to living a functional life again] So I guess I'm a "they" in recovery too 😊 Not to take the seriousness away from these topics... because addiction is a serious disease of the brain that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy...but mental health struggles are just as serious. Both are often misunderstood or not understood at all, even I dont understand. I have SUD. MDD, GAD, ADHD & CPTSD which have led me to have intrusive thoughts before and I've lost important people in my life to Suc*də. I am greatful to be alive and I feel like I needed to see this today....so I thank you both.

I remember him as a seemingly smug and entitled teen (although the explanation of being a teen addict puts things into new perspective) so seeing him as this kind of nice, easy going, very “Dad like” Dad is weird but cool. I definitely get him podcasting because he has a very podcast like voice/vibe. The only problem for me is I’m not interested in the Osbournes or the paranormal.
